  1. Right.
  2. And so, the American Majors drought continues..Son of a B....! I'm sick of this. Oh bloody good show Phil and DJ, well bloody done...what? I know these guys don't plan to loose, but dammit, maybe they shlould see the opening scene of Patton, "... Americans love a winner and will not tolerate a loser . Americans play to win all the time..." So win!

    GolfWits

I was pretty excited about golfwits when I first hit the site, but now, I'm not so hot on it. I do use their free eyardage book that you can printout, but I'd never buy their download products, and here's why. I've noticed that too many of their maps are off, or wrong completely. Bunkers not shown, water in the wrong spot, and worse yet, the map is not the right course at all. Now I wouldn't be so negative, but when I emailed them about a couse map being completely wrong, the response I got back was..can you send us the score card and course layout. OK, I did, and they still haven't fixed it online. I thought to myself...man, don't you have a research team that contacts all of the courses you map, make sure they're accurate, up to date etc..., or do you just ask folks to send you the info? So bottom line is that I'm not so certain what you get is worth the price. I mean it's reasobaly priced, but you should have confidence in the accuracy of the product.
  4. OK, I'm sure this one has already made the rounds but what the heck. Please name any other three Pro's, Amateurs, Celebs (dead or alive), you'd like to include in a 4-some, why, and on what course. For me: 1. Gary Player (just seems like it would be a lot of fun) 2. Lee Trevino (again...good fun, never a dull moment) 3. Fred Couples (Just a cool, easy going guy) Course: Augusta National And you?
  5. I mark with a Green or Red dot (depends on mood) above manufacturer's name. Lately I started marking a putting line using the ole' Gatorade cap ring trick...works well...I can't bring myself to paying $5 to $6 on the plastic marking template and won't spend over $20+ on the gyro cyclotron super whamadyne ball marking contraption.
  6. I've just started using Titleist NXT Tour at $24/dz. purchased at International Golf Discount in VA Beach, VA. Very happy with them.
  7. Yeah...very good point...especially about Doyle. So where does all that power come from, hips, legs, core muscles, and mechanics....all of the above? And how do the ladies whack it out there 270+???? I attended the Michelob Ultra Open this year, and these ladies didn't seem to be either especially muscular (ripped), or swinging violently to get the club head speed up.
  8. Totally understandable...you're only human. I think you'd feel better finding out how this guy scores an average round...may find his distance is as high as his score. I guess the best advice I might offer is to just think of your post here every time a long hitter has you thinking yourself inadequate off the tee. I'm in the 230 to 250 range off the tee, and for some reason I think I should be 265-280, just like the Tour guys, and some gals for that matter, right? So why can't I get it out there? Well, because I'm not a tour guy, or gal, that's why. Looking at video of long hitters like Daly or Bubba Watson, etc... I don't see a nice, compact, together back swing to the parallel, etc...Hell they're winding way back there, club head soaring past the horizontal and well inside, and then huge movements to bring that sucker around at Mach 5. How, I wonder, can they possibly square their clubface at impact, well they can, that's all. They have enough control and natural talent to bring everything under control at just the right moment while carrying all that club head speed; it doesn't hurt to have forgiving, custom fitted, company tweaked clubs either. I think your routine at the range is the superior approach, stick with it and go with improved technique and scoring shots and let the bombers just bomb away. Good luck in the tourney!
  9. I've become a Golf Channel junky, but I've lately become a little annoyed by the programming, specifically the golf gadget-mercials to improve your game. OK, OK, I know that's been part of the golfing culture wellllll forever I suppose, but man I groan-out-loud when I channel jump to the Golf Channel and have nothing offered but the Medicus, The Swingsetter, this DVD and that DVD touting the real secret to lowering your score, etc... Yes I know, its how they pay the bills, but man...what if they had such a great line-up of programs outside of tour events, that draws in so many viewers that advertising sales bring them earnings. I’d rather see more Classics, more here’s how to improve your game, here’s the history of the game, here’s Tour tips that can make your game better or more challenging, or anything other than, the new fix your swing in seconds club, with DVD. What do you all think?

    Cheers!

Well. I'm back from my Saturday round with the new Odyssey 2-ball and loved it. Line-up was so much easier and gave me greater confidence in striking the ball and going fro the cup. Unfortunately, the golfer wasn't so good, shot a 99..not the putter's fault. Yep, I guess I'll keep her.
  11. Had to vote NO. Easy enough to look at, but not a head-turner. Can't get used to that deeper-than-should-be, baritone voice of hers. Hey, whatever happened to that European blonde who co-hosted BIG Break V, I think?

Hey bzotta: Lately it's been Honey Bee, Sewell's Point, and now Bide-a-Wee. I'm really impressed with Bide-a-Wee and am planning to join the association out there. Haven't been to TPC yet, have you?
  13. I had a similar problem with my driver too. Tried reading about how to fix it, videos, used a few swing aids, like the Ledbetter Swing Setter, and finally went to see a Teaching Pro... the Pro did the trick using video analysis . There were several problems with my swing from set up to take-away, posture to release, follow through and finish born from years of self-instruction. In my case, I was crunched over the ball, all tucked in and restricted. I rolled my hands back almost right from the start of the takeaway. This opened the club face immediately, and though I tried to compensate with shoulder turn, the face remained open at impact and off she went to the right. Set up is also key. Your head needs to be behind the ball and remain that way throughout the swing to a full follow through. But in all honesty...I don't think any of the well meaning fixes suggested will do help. Seek a PGA Teaching Pro and just do one lesson to correct your swing...if he/she uses video analysis all the better. In my case, it was worth the $20. Cheers!
  14. Diggitydog: I go to the USGA website for all my rules questions. They have an animated rules and etiquette section that hits almost every one of your questions on the numbers. Cheers, JRC
