  1. he also had this really cool Scotty Cameron Driver Head Cover which I kind of want hahaha
  2. I understand that the Project X shafts are considerably lighter than True Temper shafts, but is there a difference in distance? I found that with Project X my distance was longer but is this just me or do Project X's play longer than their true temper counterparts? If anyone has any insight I would really appreciate it.
  3. I just can no longer hit my irons. I bought irons that are probably too advanced for me (MP-52) and I just have been having a ton of trouble hitting them with any consistency/distance. My 5-iron goes anywhere from 140-175.. I assume this means my ball striking is horribly inconsistent. I am working with a pro, but part of me regrets not getting the Project-X shafts just because of how much lighter they are (my irons feel extremely heavy when I swing them). So would it be pointless to go take advantage of Golfsmith sales or buy a used cheap set of the Callaway X-20 tours or X-20's or X-22s? I like the way the ball comes of the face and I feel at this point it is almost mental with my irons.. Any advice out there I would really appreciate anything and everything. Thanks so much.
  4. Not to be a troll but anyone else ahve any input?
  5. Not to be rude, because we have similar handicaps, but you dont feel that the club is too difficult to hit solidly? I have heard it is for single-digit handicaps and I dont want to make this game any harder than it is, but if there is any chance it could help my game I would be very interested in checking it out.
  6. So recently I have moved from the stock regular flex shaft in my Taylormade R7 Superquad driver to a stiffer Aldila shaft. However my driver has a loft of 10.5 and I am getting incredibly high ball flight, something that I really am not enjoying. So I have been wondering if it is possible to buy a new driver head but keep the shaft, since I just bought it and all.. Also I am interested in the Titleist 909 series, but I am afraid that they may be a little too advanced for me. My other option would be the Taylormade R9, but that seems to be a far more expensive option at the time. I would like a little more distance out of my driver and I would love it if someone with experience with the 909 series could help explain the differences between the 3 clubs.
  7. This is not my story, I was golfing with my grandfather on a public course last week and we were paired with two older gentlemen. One of the two men had an eyepatch on. As the round went on we began to talk and he told me that his injury was golf related. Apparently he was sitting in his golf cart with the plastic wind protector up. Someone hit a 3-iron and shanked it, never yelled fore and took this mans eye out. Not only did he give a half-hearted apology he never offered to help with the medical bills or anything. Had the golfer who hit the ball known what he did i very much doubt he would have even come to apologize at all. This man with the eye patch was still a single digit handicap, and the day we played he was playing with borrowed clubs because his clubs had been stolen out of his trunk a few days before. Crazy game we play huh?
  8. I too caddy at a high class course, and yes we only work for tips, there is no salary. So if a caddie gets out once thats it, if he gets out twice hes lucky depending on the course. Some courses I ahve heard of requiring a caddie fee for experienced or "A" caddies.
  9. I am currently using a Taylormade R7 Superquad driver with the regular flex stock shaft. I bought the club used last year when I was new to the game and my swing needed a regular flex shaft. However as I have improved my swing speed is now around 112-120. A few weeks ago I would hit my driver and the ball was ballooning up in the air like 8x the normal height one expects on the ball flight. And the distance was suffering as well. I figured perhaps it is the shaft maybe I should get the club reshafted because I think I am a stiff flex shaft anyway. I decide to wait until my birthday to get it re-shafted. Yet a week before my birthday I start hitting the driver well again with no ballooning at all. So I decided not to mess with a good thing and just let whatever was working alone. So then the other day on the course randomly my drives start ballooning again. Does anyone have any ideas why this may be happening?
  10. I have a Taylormade R7 Superquad driver with a Regular Flex stock shaft. I bought the club used when I was starting out and when my swing speed was that of a regular flex shaft in the mid 80's. Now I swing 108-115ish. I went to golfsmith and they told me that they would advise I re-shaft my driver. My only problem is that I am hitting my driver really well right now, I am getting a huge arc in my ball flight which I am told is a result of the shaft being regular flex not stiff. I am a little superstitious and I am about to start playing Varsity Golf and I dont want to change the shaft and then realize I cant hit as well with it. I need advice.. what do you people think I should do in this situation? Replace the shaft or keep doing what I am doing until the shaft snaps?
  11. Dub- As a 17.5 handicap do you feel that the 52's were a little advanced for your game? I fell in love with them and hitting them was so pure haha. But I was told they were for single digit handicappers. Also Miller72 the 57's are less forgiving than the 52's in my opinion.
  12. jcrob902- Do you really feel that the 52's are game improvement irons? I have heard they are somewhere between players irons and Game improvements, but isnt that for people with a 10 or lower handicap?
  13. If I had perfect golf skill to play any set of clubs I think Id go with whatever is in Tiger Woods' bag, seems to work just fine for him haha ;)
  14. I do not mean to steal your thread here, but my question is on a similar topic so I decided it was best to add on rather than start a new thread. I have been debating back and forth whether or not to get the 52's (I prefer them over the 57's) And I have noticed a small loss of distance with them. Now I have not hit them on a course, just at the range and in Golfsmith. However I have been playing with Full Cavity Ignites and I have never owned any Blades or anything similar and I was wondering if the loss of yardage is normal with blades or if I am not hitting the ball squarely... my shots are on target so that is not an issue.
  15. PiKapp23- The fitter I would go to would be a store a couple of miles from me called The Complete Golfer. The site is http://completegolfer.us/ They seem pretty indepth, and I figure I will give them a call to get a feel for what they can offer me. Let me know what you think.
