  1. Gamed a horrendous 95 on Sunday at Butternut Farm in Stowe, MA. The worst round of the season by far. Started off well with a 30 foot putt for par from the fringe but downhill from there. However, I just got fit for a set of TM P790's from Club Champion and I felt the benefits immeditiately. Par 3's have been my lifelong downfall and I faced a few longer holes (171 , 185) where I was able to play that distance without feeling like I had to kill the ball. I went from D5 swingweight irons with S300 stiff shafts to D0 with steel fiber i95 regular shafts. However, as the round went on a bunch of stupid crap bothered me. There were some loud golfers out there, screaming when a putt buzzed by a hole etc, the grounds crew just mows no matter what you are doing, how close you are, a number of random tree branches hanging right at the best place off a tee box, and all that jazz just made me angry. I ended up shanking two shots which I haven't done in years. I was fuming. It's all between the ears.
  2. Is the asking price too high? It's been a while since I've sold clubs. I'll entertain offers.

  4. I wish every round was boring!

  6. In great shape with only normal bag chatter. No face burns, they were never gamed by a low handicapper. DG s300 stiff - 5-PW have multicompound plus 4 grips new, 3-4 have midsize older grips. 2 degrees flat otherwise all standard. Asking 275 USD
  7. Yeah, I mean to the point where the ball is noticeably below my feet when I’m teeing off.
  8. wow, that's cool! Thanks!
  9. Hey all, wanted to start a new thread to get some first hand accounts from people who faced the decision to join a club. I am 33 years old and I have a few years (likely 2-3) to decide on a club and take advantage of young professional programs. Several clubs near me do not require the remaining initiation balance to be paid when I hit 40, while some clubs cap that age at 36 or 37. The club I am thinking of is member owned, has a low initiation fee, and a yearly dues (everything included) for roughly 5K. The local public tracks that are worth joining are 3,000(ish). I am interested in a perceived brotherhood that exists in a members club, potential friendships, and being part of a community. I fear the fiscal dangers of a member owned club when things go wrong and members have to pony up cash to cover a new back nine irrigation systems, etc. Financially speaking the 5,000 would be my limit. I also fear being bored of the same track. However, with all that said I am trying to ground myself constantly. Public courses here, even those that run 100 bucks a loop, have issues that just irk me. 1.) grounds grew that mow 40 feet away while you're teeing off. 2.) tee boxes that are all slanted. 3.) people who never fix divots and ball marks. 4.) slow slow slow pace of play. Am I being too ridiculous to let this stuff bother me?
  10. I'd also like to apologize to some people... I am sure I was a real piece of work and was banned at some point. I am more mellow, life is too short!
  11. I'd say the art to breaking 80 and doing it consistently means playing "boring golf". I just played with an older fella, likely early 60's, who wiped the floor with me and shot 76. He literally just hit every drive 240 right down the middle, hit middle of the greens and made two putts. His bogeys came on the longer holes where he played 450 yard 4 as a realistic 5. I hit better shots than him, was longer, had more spin, held more pins, but its those 4 or 5 errant drives that just sink the ship. The concept of breaking 80 has stressed me out a ton because in my early and mid 20's, being single and having more time for the game, I found myself breaking 80 consistently. Unfortunately I took a few years off due to a hand injury and now that I am playing 100% again I am always reminding myself of the "good old days" and its brutal on the psyche.
  12. Hey all, back at it... playing more, practicing more, just loving the resurgence in my game. I used to belong here a LONG time ago but no longer have access to whatever email I used to register. Figured it's time for a new start. Outside of Boston, living in the burbs. I'm at a point where I want to get my game to where it used to be. At my best, I played off a 6. I'm probably a 12-14 but haven't kept a GHIN in a while. Right now I am between signing up for a year at a local public track or joining a private club. I am 33 so there are quite a few young professional deals floating out there. It's still some cake though, so I am torn regarding the right move for me.

  14. well, you never know... they have the safety net of the media... look at Biden the last couple of days with his interviews, he was caught off guard because he's so used to catered interviews that station will now be blackballed by the Obama team
  15. I'm not saying I'm not going to vote for Obama because he isn't American but he can't produce a legal US birth certificate. His family in Kenya claims he was born there, which I do not believe is true but until he produces the legal document everything is fair game. This isn't a political issue... you catch someone on the border and they tell you they're American... "oh sorry, well if you say so then I trust you... go ahead"
  16. until he provides the media and the public with a legal US birth certificate he is not an American and therefore not eligible to run for of the office of commander in chief. this is a pretty simple issue, a person with that kind of political power would not have to work hard to provide the document. I was a US citizen born abroad in Caracas, Venezuela. Being born on US territory in the city of Caracas I am eligible to run for president but I have legal documenation showing my birth status. I have the original document and if I need a replacement I have to go through the state department in washington. it wouldnt take me long to furnish a copy and I am a nobody. Why wont he produce the document?
  17. 4th hole, uphill par 5... 500 plus yards, 30mph wind dead into the face. the hardest hole I have ever played. Driver, 3 wood, 3 wood, sand wedge, 2 putt, bogey
  18. Had the pleasure of playing Sankaty Head Golf Club yesterday and I must say I was very impressed. I shot 99... course plays 6700 yards with 12-13 holes dead into the wind or coming HARD off the left. We saw 30MPH all day and it was some of the hardest golf I have ever played. It really kicked my ass. This course is an exclusive private club on Nantucket and is an adventure getting to. I read about this club in a small segment in golf digest about great one day golf adventures. They open the club to the public from the 3rd weekend in October until closing (not sure the exact date). 135 green fees and the total day trip comes out to around 180 for the ferry and green fees. Excellent lay out, excellent conditions and overall a very friendly staff. It's just beautiful out there.
  19. I will always consider myself a true conservative republican. With that in mind I will be the first person who will criticize John McCain. Personally, I really admired the John McCain of eight years ago. I feel that throughout this election his main concern was to do whatever it took get elected. There are aspects of McCain that I disagree with and aspects that I admire. There is far to much ignorance on both sides. If you want to support someone you should have concrete reasons behind your support. To many people will follow party lines and each candidate is flirting with the boundaries of the extremes of his party. I ask the vast majority of Obama supporters that I know for the reasoning behind their support and 90% of the time I hear the same answer. The grandiose statement of change... that doesn't cut it to me. You will also here the "President Bush has made so many mistakes, gas prices, the economy, the war... McCain is just another bush" That statement may be the stupidest thing I have ever heard anyone say. People try to break down everything in such simplistic terms. Gas Prices ... liberals will talk about alternative energy. Apparently they havent heard of OPEC and their control of a vast majority of the worlds oil resources. Alternative Energy ... a true quagmeyer. Guess who holds a majority of the patents for such technology... oil corporations. But, we must uphold our capitalist tradition and we cannot force those patents to be released for the "common good" The Economy ... this is the real juicy one. "well under Clinton..." can someone name a substantional economic initiative Clinton pushed through that impacted the economy? You'll be hard pressed to find one. Economic and business cycles are a reality in a capitalist economy. Likewise... "Bush just ruined our economy...". Again, explain with concrete evidence how his policies created the situation we are in now. Alan Greenspan ... many will point to his latest testimoney, the argument of regulation versus deregulation. I will listen to this one, but it is certainly not the cause of our current economic crisis. The War ... ok, I will give you this one. Most conservatives wont touch this but this is a mess. The first politically correct war this world has seen. "Shock and Awe"... most of you will think I am sick for saying this, but that was hardly "shock and awe"
  20. haha oh yeah... just pick up a beat to shit cameron on ebay, one where someone never used the headcover and just send it back, couple hundred bucks and you have a brand new putter personally I think the scotty custom shop is a joke, thats just me though there are better resources out there and in many cases somewhat cheaper
  21. good luck getting a custom scotty, its just not going to happen. a custom would include a full fitting, maybe a custom neck weld, metal selection, finish selection, handstamps I'd have newport II, a naked sole, sound slot, weight on bumper, SCAM w/ a circle T in the cavity with snow 355 grams, aggressive milled face, 33.5inches, tour weight shaft, copper billet construction, TEI3 insert
  22. haha we need some more detail than that... three weeks? a month? 100 bucks?
  23. I guess some people NEVER walk so the shoes would stay pretty nice...
  24. golf is MASSIVE in Japan! it also happens to be an extreme elite game, green fees, equipment, etc etc... everything is through the roof
  25. gator!!!!! pretty sweat but how do you wear those without constantly thinking "damn, these were expensive"
