  1. Never tried these guys but have heard good stories about them: http://www.ironfinder.com/ Happy hunting (hopefully) :) Binh.
  2. Hmmm.... been wondering about these two shafts of late. Does that mean those both play similarly (I currently have a NV-105 in my Cleveland LDI which I really like and was wondering whether the Proforce 'Classic' or Proforce V2 could be used as replacements in my woods). Thanks, Binh.
  3. This guy is just freaking me out at the moment. I just wanted to know whether other people believe think he can actually 'ascend' to another level. Thanks, Binh.
  4. http://www.golfcomponents.com.au/components/default.asp http://www.dynacraftgolf.com/ Just look down the left hand side of the page Binh.
  5. http://www.sccgolfinc.com/product_p/smtgg01.htm Forgot to post a link. Binh.
  6. Maybe you could try the SMT 100% Lifetime Warranty Glove? I realise it may not be the longest lasting (never tried it) but what the heck you're getting a free glove every time you wear the old one out Binh.
  7. Once upon a time I had such a problem. Then I just bought my own three pack of rubber tees and take it whenever I head to the range (heck, spending $5 is better than going nuts every time you go to practice). My range currently has plastic mats but these aren't exactly your run of the mill mats. They're sort of like bristles which look kind of like a broom head turned upside down (green of course ). We also experimented with some mats that you could insert real tees into but they weren't particularly successful because the surface was too hard to hits irons off of while another part of the range has a type of synthetic turf which you can insert real tees into. Personally they're still too hard for me (because the surface underneath is concrete) to hit irons off of though so I only use it to drive off of. Binh.
  8. There's also a book about this whole issue with an article on the Golf Digest website: http://www.golfdigest.com/instructio...ingplane2.html To be honest with you though some aspects of the theories seemed kind of strange to me especially the part about the one plane swing commencing with an over-the-top move.... Binh.
  9. You could try using an elastic band with a ruler shoved underneath to feel when/where your wrists are starting to break down (yes, this could be painful if you try to do it too quickly). You could also try this the 'Tac-Tic', http://www.4golftraining.com/? I've never seen one though so I'm not entirely sure whether it works.... Binh.
  10. I now know that HE comes every Wednesday and Thursday evening. Hopefully, I will have a recording next week for you guys to 'admire' I actually got a closer look at the thing and it looks as though its either a Titliest or a Cobra. Never heard a loud Titliest though so I'm fairly certain that its a Cobra. Honestly though, on cold winter nights that thing 'shivers me timbers' The resonance is just incredible. Binh.
  11. Here's a toughie. Who is more gifted (mentally), Michelle Wie or Sergio Garcia? This includes both on and off the golf course. :) I honestly can't tell at the moment. Binh.
  12. Seem to be part of the next generation of young players who have yet to win a major? Who's better though and who will break through first? Binh.
  13. In light of his recent performance at the Open I'm starting to wonder when this guy will win a major. He seems to have the talent but when will the mind come? 1-2 Years 2-5 Years 5-10 Years Never Binh.
  14. Just wondering whether anyone here has tried the Cleveland 588 DSG (Dynamic Sole Grind, http://www.golfdiscount.com/clevelan...wedges/588dsg) . Does it actually work (the Dynamic Sole Grind, that is)? Thanks, Binh.
  15. Depends on how much you want to spend :) Beltronics do a hand held swing speed analyser which is reasonably accurate in terms of swing speed (not sure about distance though) for a few hundred dollars. At the other end is the 'AccuSport Vector Launch System' (sounds like a rocket of some sort, huh) which is a few thousand dollars and you may find at the local golf retailer. Otherwise, there are the traditional monocular scopes (about twenty bucks but useless if you aren't targeting a flagstick) and the laser distance finders (for example, Bushnell Pinseeker which is a few hundred dollars) which seem to be all the rage these days.... Binh.
  16. I normally use the bottom groove to align but I like to take a good look at everything before taking a shot. I guess its something of an optical illusion (for me anyhow). That's why I recently ditched my old wood style hybrid (Precept ECU) for a iron style hybrid (Cleveland LDI). Don't even get me started on the Hi-Bore. That thing REALLY threw me off. I probably hit one out of ten where I wanted when I demoed it. It was about as straight as a banana (probably didn't help that they didn't have any proper stiff shafts though). Binh.
  17. I watched his third round and the way he seems to be going about his golf reminds me a lot of Ben Hogan (although I've never watched 'The Hawk' play I've read a lot about him). He just seems to be doing 'enough' to win. When he needs a putt to go in, or to land a bunker shot to within tapp-in range it just seems be a forgone conclusion. He doesn't seem to be in the kind of mood necessary to blow away a field. When's he's like this I wonder whether or not I should even bother watching the guy.... Binh.
  18. Really sweet feeling shaft whether that be in S or X flex. At first (like the Diamana) it may actually feel like you're using a rubber band for a shaft (that's how it felt to me) but I think you'll find the accuracy to be quite good. The way the ball seems to flatten out and penetrate at the top of its apex is absolutely gorgeous and 'inspiring' when I compared it with my previous equipment (which tended to either go straight up or quick left). Based on your swing speed (and Fujikura's fitting guide) you're an X but then again I'm not too sure since you may have a very odd tempo, early/late release, etc.... The only way to be sure (and the least expensive option in the long run) is to get fitted. Binh.
  19. I've also found that they're also significantly easier to hit off tight lies due to their reduced bounce and reduced sole width (which means that they're more likely to dig into the ground than bounce off of it if you mishit :() Another thing you may consider is alignment. I find it much easier to align a thin top line than a thick top one. For some strange reason, I find it incredibly difficult to align newer Callaway style irons and new fangled 460cc, honky-tonk drivers. Binh.
  20. This is in reference to - http://thesandtrap.com/archives/podc...pisode_018.php Dear SandTrap, I recently came across HIM again and attempted to put your suggestion into action (putting his driver where the sun don't shine). I found this to be rather difficult proposition though, seeing as though he already had other objects up there as well. Funnily enough, the largest of the objects up there was his head (hence, therein lay the reason why he was unable to hear his driver). Removal of his head proved to be extraordinarily difficult. Nonethless, by using my sand wedge (placing my weight forward, and gripping down for extra control) I was able to extricate it by using it as a kind of pick (I have since purchased a new sand wedge). Needless to say (and as you predicted), the sound of his driver going up his rear orifice was quite different from the one produced by it hitting a golf ball. Although putting your suggestion into action wasn't at all pleasant, it has proven to be a boon for lovers of tranquil golf courses and driving ranges in my area. Many a owner of a loud driver can now be seen walking with protrusions from their rear ends with all of them expounding the virtues of a peaceful game of golf. Here's looking forward to your future insightful suggestions and pieces of wisdom, :) Binh. (President of the International Anti-Loud Driver Association) PS - I've heard the MacTec NVG and it is nothing like what I heard from this guy. This was an extremely high pitch 'ping' that resonated. If I can, I'll get a recording and you'll see what I mean.
  21. Recently went to a course where the greens were more 'challenging' (turtle backed greens with some nifty ridge running through the centre). Anyhow, does anyone have any tips on how to better read these greens on longer putts. Does it just come down to experience or do you just ram the thing and hope it ends up close?
  22. Just wanted to know how important it was to have matching clubs (ie. clubs that have the same grip, shaft, flex, etc....) Reason why I'm asking is because I recently brought a new lob wedge and was shanking about half of my shots (did not occur with any other club though). Change of grip and all was fine and dandy
