  1. I agree - It's just easier. Plus you get multiple readings at the same time on the same screen (front, middle, back).
  2. I'd go somewhere and get fit. You'd probably be surprised at what driver/shaft/loft specs you'd end up with. I got fit and didn't get the recomendation I expected, but I bought the driver and my drives are significantly better for it.
  3. I choose Callaway because I believe they make the best range of equipment for many skill levels, which means they grow more easily with players as they get better. However, if I were close to scratch, I'd play all Titliest.
  4. I had a chance to use my SG4 on Tuesday this week. My plan was to get a uPro, but my wife got me the SG4 (half the price) for our anniversary. So I took it out on Tuesday and here are my thoughts: Pros easy to use Synced Quickly On the course it connected quickly and was able to figure out what hole I was on Distances seemed right on Cons Hate the proprietary connector used on the back it's a little bulky - won't fit in pocket no way to pick point on fairway for layup so those are some standard pros and cons. The one thing I'll add though is that while I wanted the uPro and all of the cool features it has, while using the SG4 I realized if I was playing a course I had played before I wouldn't use many of the features. The only feature the SkyCaddie didn't have that would have been nice exactly 1 time in the round was the ability for me to pick a layup spot on the fairway and check the yardage to it. To be perfectly honest all I really needed/cared about, was the ability to see the front and back of the green as well as the ability move the cursor to the actual pin position. I didn't even really look at or use the carry distance or layup distance features that much. So I guess my point is that for me, I could probably get by with the cheapest GPS unit on courses I've played before. I could see something more advanced being useful on new courses, but after playing once or twice, I'm not sure how much it would actually matter.
  5. the bigger hassel for me is that I always forget to switch at least one thing. Last week it was a bandaid, which I actually ended up needing on the course. I have the same problem with cars. If I drive my wifes car I always end up leaving my sunglasses or phone or something in her car. I'm just forgetful I guess.
  6. Take a look at used equipment. For what you are looking to spend you could pick up some decent stuff that's a couple years old.
  7. For many players they are, and I'd argue that most pros think they are the best. However, no single ball is the best for everyone. For instance, if you can't control spin properly or tend to put unintended side spin on the ball, the Pro V1 is the wrong ball for you. If you don't swing with a pretty high swing speed, then the Pro V1x is probably not the best ball for you. Also, if you lose a lot of balls out of bounds, neither is probably the best for you
  8. I take mine off as soon as I see my ball on the green. Goes back on as I'm walking up to the next tee.
  9. funny, I don't care for BOL. I actually have quite a bit of time for podcasts. I listen to at least 1.5 hours every morning while I work out, then whenever I'm in my car, and sometimes throughout the day during work. So, I guess that's why I like long podcasts. I have time to listen to them
  10. I'm a bit embarrassed to say I've never tried that... That would fix one of my complaints.
  11. I didn't give up anything. I've never had a hybrid, 5 wood, 7 wood, or anything else that would have taken that 14th spot. I've been playing four wedges since the day I added the 14th club.
  12. I love the TWIT podcasts I find that half of the most interesting information comes from ratholes.
  13. You have skiing though right?
  14. I don't like using my carry bag on a cart. I have a nice, if old, sun mountain bag that has been on a cart enough to scrape up the legs. I don't like that, or the fact that the pockets don't seem to be in the right place or the fact that putting the bag in with the bottom side in the back, makes it so that the driver and 3 wood block the rest of hte clubs. In other words, the carry bag is designed in the exact opposite way of what I want for a cart bag. So do you ride with your carry bag, and if so, what do you do to make it easier to deal with - or should I just suck it up and deal with it. BTW, I have a nice cart bag which I use primarily. It's a pain to switch back and forth and it discourages me from walking because I'll NEVER carry it around the course - it's a monster.
  15. I've actually been considering losing the glove myself.
  16. How often do you buy a new glove? I have used footjoy gloves for as long as I can remember and I'm sick and tired of them falling apart so quickly. It seems like about 2 rounds in and I could use a new glove. I often find myself playing with a glove with holes in it. Yesterday I played a whole round with a hole in the palm. I think part of the problem may have been that until recently I used full cord grips, which are very rough, but I've since switched to tour velvet and I'm wondering how that will affect the life of the glove. Are footjoy gloves as tough as the rest, or should I look to another brand?
  17. I played today as well here in Illinois. The wind was brutal, and I left several shots short thinking 1 or even 2 extra clubs was enough. The greens were pretty bad, with balls bouncing all over the place, and playing about as fast as my living room carpet, but I had a great time. The fact that I got to hit real golf balls on a real course in February within 10 min of my house was amazing. The only other bad part was cartpath only. Round took about 4 hours just because we had to walk across the course quite a bit. I can't wait to get out on a more regular basis. P.S. Shot of the day was a 170 yard par 3 with water in front that my father in law came up short on. Lucky for him, parts of the pond were still frozen over. His ball actually bounced off the ice and up to safety right in front of the green - Oh, and he holed out a 30 yard shot for birdie on a par 3 that he came up 30 yards short on. Today was his lucky day.
  18. Alright, I was wrong. My wife bought me a SkyCaddie for our anniversary. May be the best gift she's ever given me. Now I can't wait to use it!
  19. Are you using your hybrid to replace your 3 iron or to fill the gap between your 3 iron and 3 wood?
  20. Grips and Balls which always kick off the season. After that I haven't decided between: uPro Spin Milled Vokey 54 and possibly a 58 Hybrid
  21. here's and article on doing custom paintfill http://www.*********.com/paint-fill-putters-refinish/ oops, looks like I can't post links. fill in the stars with *********. ok, so nevermind - do a search :)
  22. WHAT!?!?!?! What days were you able to play? Did you travel to play?
  23. I assume you mean you don't have enough space for the ball to fly? My yard isn't big enough, but I hit balls into a net in the basement, which is ok, although not seeing the ball flight kind of sucks. I have this fear that I'm developing a wicked hook without even knowing it.
  24. Then you only give them "upper back, neck and shoulder pain"
  25. I agree with this. The course I play most often has a 90 degree rule every time a cloud shows up in the sky, so it takes forever to drive around the course. Especially when my partner and I tend to hit the ball in very different locations on the course.
