  1. http://www.conwaycountryclub.com/ Soon to be my home course. Waiting for my membership paperwork to go through.
  2. You hit the nail on the head. "Fuzzy focus"
  3. #1 Center of the green on a 384 yard par 4. Two putted for birdie. #2 Not sure of the distance but I hit the ball over the cart path behind the green on a 366 yard par 4.
  4. -#1 goal for 2009 is to break 80. I shot an 80 twice last year and had at least 10 rounds in the lower 80s last year. -Be more consistent. I have a problem with having lobsided front and back 9s. For example I played last weekend and shot 56 on the front, 42 on the back. Then the next day I shot 45 on the front, and I stopped counting on the back. -Perfect practice daily. I don't care what it is or how short it may be, but I want to practice something in my game at least once a day and do it the right way. -Get my handicap below 12. I know it's possible despite what my current handicap says. -Look like a good golfer. My swing and mannerisms on the course make me look like a hacker. I want to become a true player of the game. -Learn as much as possible about the game of golf. From reading books to talking to PGA pros and other players, I want this to be a year of learning. -Get a hole in one. I know this sounds like an absurd goal, but I like setting challenges for myself and what better challenge than the elusive hole in one. And who doesn't want to be a pin seeker on par 3s?
  5. Maybe we have cheap private clubs and expensive public courses here in central Arkansas but it seems to me over time it would be cheaper to be a member of a club if you play a lot. The most expensive club in town has a $2000 membership fee and is $180 a month in dues. Now this is a Lindsey Management course and once you join one you have access to all of their courses. I don't know how many that is but I know there is quite a few of them in AR and the surrounding states. I would estimate that I spend up to $100 a week in greens fees at public courses from March to October (8 months) which comes out to being $3200 a year. The private price I mentioned earlier would be $4160 the first year and then $2160 dollars a year after that if dues don't go up. Long story short, I could save $1000 a year if I would just man up and join the private club. I'm not a member anywhere and I may be leaving some other expenses out but correct me if my math is wrong. To touch on your other point PiKapp, it can be boring to play the same course over and over but my buddies just play different tee boxes each round and that will change the course up dramatically.
  6. I'm in Conway.
  7. First a little about me: I'm 6' 4" tall, wrist to floor of 38", been playing golf on and off since I was 8 (about 17 years ago), and I'm a very inconsistent golfer (shot as low as 80 but as high as 110). So I went down to the local driving range and their guy had me swing on the lie board today with my clubs. My main goal was to see if the clubs I bought last summer need to be changed to fit my swing. No one had told me about getting your clubs "fit." After reading through this forum it opened my eyes to the world of golf club fitting. Anyways, I've only played one round of golf this year and I shot a 95 with me spraying the ball all over the course. I figured I need to get my clubs adjusted since I'm tall and I've read most tall players get some type of adjustment made to their clubs. The weirdest thing happened today, I was swinging the golf club today like a possessed man. I usually fade/slice everything with the ball flight being very high. Today, everything I hit was pure and straight. I was even drawing the ball a little when I wanted to! So the guy puts the tape on my club and I hit a few. Contact with the lie board is dead center on the bottom of the club and the ball is hitting towards the heel on the face of the club. He even let me swing some higher end clubs like the Callaway X-22's and the Titleist AP1 & AP2. I was hitting those pretty darn good too with the same contact spots using the tape and lie board. So I have a question. He recommended that I don't need to adjust the clubs since I was hitting them so good, maybe add 1 inch to the length. But, was that because I was having a "good" day? He put a +1 length 2 degree upright in my hand and I was hitting that club good but with the benefit of better posture at address. Is it worth the cost of changing the clubs? Should I go pay the $50 again another day to see if my swing is still the same? Help!
  8. My best shot was a drive I had on a 384 yard slight dogleg right par 4. The wind was swirling but was predominately at our backs. My cousin already smashed his drive (which we didn't know where it went) so he was sitting in the golf cart. I stepped up, gripped and ripped, but didn't see where the ball went. My cousin asked where it went and I just said I thought it felt good and long so we took off hoping it landed in the fairway. About 150 yards from the green I saw a ball sitting about 8 feet from the pin on the green. I jumped out of the moving cart and sprinted up to the green. Sure enough, it was my Pro-v1 X-out. I was freaking out that I just hit a 380 yard drive onto a par 4. So excited I missed the eagle putt but I tapped in the birdie. BTW, my cousin's ball was 5 yards further than mine but was about 10 yards to the right of the green.
  9. What's the name of the app you downloaded? I had a golf GPS app once but I never got the GPS to work right. It would always tell me the distance to the north pole. Needless to say I deleted it and have been wanting a good golf GPS app.
  10. Same here. I don't have a "home" course but all of my buddies are members at the local clubs so I get to bounce from course to course.
