I agree with rtbuckshot. If you are hitting the blades well enough, stick with them. However if you really want to get new clubs, get fitted and take a look at the MP-57, or even the 52's. Great thing about Mizuno is that you can "design your own set". You could have 57 for long irons, 52 for mid and 62 for scoring irons. I just got my MP 52's on Thursday....and man I love the feel! Now I just need to spend time at the range and get my groove set! :)

Of course the other golf cliches would be: The Back 9 (with a motto of "Where we grip it 'n rip it) Handicap's In Regulation (who doesn't want to play there?) The Tips Now, for staff attire....you could have the waitress' in red golf polo's, Bartenders in White and Management in Black. (Ladies Tees, Men's Tees, The Tips....)

I agree with that! When you plan on getting new irons, then save the extra to get the Wedge set you want. IMHO it makes a big difference. Once you get new irons, you have to get used to their feel, so learning the feel of new wedges isn't too far off.

Yeah, if that is the case a GW is the way to go. Some people are able to alter grip/swing enogh to "close the gap" but others can't (like me).

Well, what's your age range, play availability schedule, temprement? lol I only ask the last part because my dad is recently without his golf group. There was some unncessary rudeness and he has chosen not to play with them anymore. That and he can be...entertaining to play golf with! lol So...hey, if nothing else, I will be in Phoenix next weekend for a month.

That is a huge gap between clubs, but what about your distances? Are you finding an area you that choking down on the PW or strong arming the SW a lot? I filled my gap or 47 to 56 with a 51 and it has worked out GREAT!

Still saving up for the Fiancee?! lol

The other thing to consider is what days do they allow cameras to be brought in. When I went to the Pro-Am here in Monterey, they didn't let me bring my camera in because it was during the round. I was working the days of the Practice/Pro-Am (Tues-Thur). I went on that Friday. I wasn't dissapointed with the day, just that I don't have photos! lol

I am playing Black Horse on Sat and trying to decide which course for Sunday. I am thinking Laguna, Rancho, or PG. It's my last weekend to play before leaving Monterey!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the X-14's are cast right? From what I have been told by all the golf store's I've asked is that Cast can't be adjusted once set.

LOL Nice!

Something to consider is how you hit every club. I know that for the longest time I never used my driver while playing because controlling it was near disasterous. I teed off with a 2i because I could get it in the fairway at a decent distance (220yrds). If you have control of your irons and pretty consistant distances, give that a go while you work on your driver at the range. I totally agree with umpiremark. You really need to focus on the bad areas and prioritize them. Since the driver is a very difficult club to hit, it may be better to work on it at the range as opposed to the course. Lastly, warm up. Make a little time for the range before you hit the course. I usually do much better when I do that. Make the range time count. Hitting the ball great there isn't as important as getting your game tempo. Start with some chip/pitch shots, full wedge shots, low to mid irons, and then your driver. Don't try killing the ball as much as swinging smooth. Then go back to some chip/pitch and finish with some putting. This should help you warm up, set, and maintain a tempo for your round.

Totally agree about the fitting. Only thing to add to that is swing a lot of clubs in your price range, and just above. Once you find the set you like, start looking for deals. Save a little more if needed, and get a set that will last you for a while. By that I mean, one that you will be able to learn with and effectively lower your scores as you do.

Cast vs. Forged is kinda like hammering nails with a Sledge vs. Carpenter hammers. Both do the job, but one just feels right. Aside from that, I actually experienced a similar thing when I bought a SGI set earlier this year. I went from a straight ball flight to a hook with every iron. I got fitted, again, and discovered the problem was 2 fold: 1) The offset impacted, but wasn't the only contributor 2) I need +2 wraps on my grips, which slows the hand turn a little. That and I need +1" because I maintain balance better. So, I went back to my old set and hit them straight. Should be getting my new set of MP52's today!!

Now that is the type of community I would love to live in. Granted, it is usually a small town type of a place. I can handle that. As far as trying out a club you found, so long as the person who left it isn't right ahead of you and you turn it in....why not?! It's just a "quick demo!" lol

Yeah I can see that. Where's the fun of being poked in the back for 6 and only getting to do so for 1? But man that irks me! lol Just getting grumpy in my "old age" lol

Question about buying Clubs on Ebay..sorry I'm new
Damien45 replied to md2002's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Sweet!! Glad to hear and good luck with them!! I have purchased numerous items from eBay. All real so far. Now granted my Mizuno Irons have not arrived yet, but they are in transit. Took a lot longer than it was originally supposed to. Before I ordered, I checked Mizuno's website list of eBay retailers and they were on there. I felt good about ordering. Now I am just annoyed at the length of time it is taking to get them. -
I honestly think I would let them play through and proceed to hit into them. Enough's enough already right? Pressing you into the backs of the group ahead of you is ridiculous. Why not show them what they are doing?

Just for kicks poll. uPro or SG5?
Damien45 replied to nutsnbolts's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
That is for your Home Course. What about your next course? -
You could try opening the club face a little at address....but solving the problem that way could just lead to training your brain to see open at address...

Friday May 1st I played Del Monte for the first time. I totally enjoyed it. It was a 4 man best ball scramble (which is how they describe it). My team shot -3 in the wind and rain!

I've had my uPro for a little bit now....I love it! Just wish the mapping was quicker for the courses not available. Now that Callaway owns it, maybe it will be. -
The people I play with always wonder why I put my clubs on the stick...and I am always reminding them that they left a club. Other than that, the only time I almost didn't return a club was because I almost forgot. Found one on the 11th. Asked the group ahead and none claimed it. Finished the round expecting to drop it off on the way to the cart return....but got to my car when I realized I still had it. Just a little extra walk back to turn it in and no harm.

I am all for it! But I leave the area on the 22nd. I am headed to Phoenix for about a month then to Biloxi for about a year. I love the PG Muni! I can't say I love the ice plant though.... Black Horse / Bayonet is great too. I totally love the military rate!!

I had a near miss.... I was playing in a foursome. 3 of us were on the green and waiting for the last guy. He was ok, not great, not bad. We were standing behind him since his ball was just on the other side of the cart path from the green. We grabbed our putters and stood back. He hit, the ball hit the curb and shot back at me. Straight for my....yeah. I JUMPED! The ball went about a foot under my groin because I jumped so high! Well, down the hill went his ball and he asked me why I didn't just let it hit me and stop it.... Yeah....no!
