Where to Buy Discounted Clubs w/Confidence?
Comeback City replied to golfheaven's topic in Welcome, Everyone
There's no better place to get discounts and deals than eBay. Beware though, there's a ton of fakes out there...I also love www.3balls.com , I've gotten a bunch of wedges from them and they're also pretty conservative on their club conditions - I got a Nike SV Tour black wedge that was listed as 'Like New' and was in its original shrink wrap - didn't look like it had been played at all. -
How many see the club make contact with the ball.
Comeback City replied to pherg's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
A link would be helpful...I actually do this sometimes, but not always. I don't try/focus on doing it. But I've noticed whenever I see the club hit the ball, I usually make crisp contact and it goes straight... so yeah, I'm down to try it some more... -
I was thinking about the Aerolite III but it wasn't in any golf stores around me. I just love the look of the bag, especially the white/black with the red lining. It just looks like an sleek, awesome looking bag. I'm not sure about the Ogio's but I ended up getting the Nike Xtreme Sport Carry II in Pine/Black (green's pretty much my favorite color) for a really good deal at about $60 off eBay. For the Nike...its been a pretty good bag for me so far...the straps are nice and easy on the shoulders and it's got pretty good club space and good storage...

Comeback City replied to Comeback City's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
Thanks guys...you all have been more than helpful. I repped everyone here, if that means anything... I still have a week before going so if I have any more questions I'll pose them here. Had somewhat a vague idea...but this isn't a golf trip, so I am probably going to stay within SF...thanks for the heads up though. Certainly nice to know... -
Come on, you're going to pull up one example? This is a golf forum for Christ sake, we see mental errors all the time on the PGA Tour, and they're not even susceptible to the kind of physical fatigue NBA players are put through. Also you're talking about game 1, right? The man shot 20-of-30 from the field including 3-of-6 from 3PT range in game one with 49 points, 8 assists (and honestly, he should have had 10-12 assists that game...he was getting his shooters wide open looks), 6 rebounds, 3 blks, 2 steals. I have no problems if that is the only negative he had that game... There's a Cavalier beat writer (you might of heard of him, Brian Windhorst, who has basically covered James throughout his HS and his entire time with the Cavs and regularly writes pieces of ESPN.com) who said at the End of Game 1 that LeBron was exhausted to the point where he was "overheated" and had bags of ice over his entire body. Windhorst said he never seen James like that...ever. (This was actually said over Twitter). If you remember LeBron even had problems getting of the court in game one. Still, I do agree with the general sentiment - there are times where LeBron will pull up with a Jumper and not attack. There's also parts of his game that he needs to work on more - like his post up game. It worked reasonably well in game 4 (frees up teammates and LeBron can score on that low block, he's a physical mismatch for anyone) but after that I don't even recall James posting up again. But LeBron worked hard on his jumper throughout the entire playoffs. There's numerous articles (even from opposing teams' writers) that are just kind of surprised to see him as the first player on the court on gamedays, working up a sweat shooting jumpshots. On every single gameday LeBron was seen shooting jumpers at like 10 in the morning as the first one on the court. Say what you want, but the man works hard.

Apparently it's MSFT's answer to google www.bing.com I haven't really had time to play around with it to form an opinion but the Maps section is neat. It has a 3D Browser download that basically gives you a Google Earth type experience in 3D in your web browser. I especially like how you can search categories. So for example if you type in 'Fresno, CA' it brings up "Popular Business Categories." From there you go to -> Browse All Categories --> Sports & Recreation--> Golf --> Golf Courses...and it gives you an option from Private/Public/Semi-Private...Really a very, very good tool to use if you're traveling and taking your clubs with you. That's been my absolute favorite feature so far ...better than searching golf courses on Google Map, that's for sure...

sprained ankle...how long until I'm back on the course?
Comeback City replied to glbrum's topic in Golf Talk
I've had some ankle sprains before...they suck! Well if you want to play ASAP I suggest you get around the clock treatment or as much treatment as you can. That means Ice, about 30 minute intervals on and off for the first 48 hours. That should prevent swelling, ect. Then Heat for the same intervals after the 2nd day... Check out: http://www.ehow.com/Search.aspx?s=An...ment&Options;=0 If you are going to play...I suggest icing it right after play...it could definitely swell up. I'd also suggest possibly opening your stance with your left foot a bit (point it towards the target by about 30 or 45 degrees to reduce that torsion)... -
That's true and everything but look back to the first 3 games of the ECF...LeBron shot around 60%...his teammates shot about 30% for the first 3 games of the series and the Cavs kept it pretty close (game 3 was winnable, gm1 they had a big lead and blew it). Honestly, I feel bad for LeBron...he goes out and gives his heart out for the game of basketball and all he needed was someone to hit a couple jumpshots... It's not just the numbers man, watching him in each of the 14 playoff games - he was just on another level from everyone else. The game comes so easy to him while nearly everyone else needs to have a high level of focus and intensity just to perform reasonably well (and that's not to say LeBron's not focused, he's focused man.). The numbers can only interpret how well he played. You have to watch the ball games themselves... As for the DWill > CP3 argument, that's a heck of an intriguing argument. I remember watching Game 1 of the Jazz-Lakers this series and I was just blow away at the number of open looks, layups DWill got his teammates in a playoff game. I was just like wow, that's exactly what a PG should be...on the other hand CP3 is no slouch himself...

LeBron. I think you can turn to the numbers alone here. In the playoffs, LeBron averaged 35.3 points, 9.1 rebounds, 7.8 assists.
-
Vince Carter...the guy was flat out amazing. Every single game he would do something jaw dropping...I remember just watching Toronto games to see him Dunk.
-
What Driver is he hitting? Is he still with the 380cc Dymo, now lofted at 10*?
-
Awesome day for Tiger...I love how he came out and said he needed to fix his Driver before the US Open and just flat out did it and more. Amazing driving by Tiger means he's gonna be scary good.

Good stuff guys...I am going in 2 weeks and I have about 3 days to play W-Thu-Friday. My flight on Friday is about 1 or 2pm, so I figure I can play maybe 9 or 18 on early Friday morning (I'm coming from the East Coast...so hopefully playing around 5 or 6am is going to be fine...). I am staying at the Airport for one night so I suppose Crystal Springs makes sense...and I will be staying downtown. Right now I am thinking... 1. The Presidio 2. Lincoln Park 3. Crystal Springs How's Poplar Creek Golf Course?? It's in pretty close proximity to the airport... Also, how should I brace myself for the weather? I've never been to SF or played a links type course next to the Ocean. I'm thinking its going to be windy...probably going to add a jacket. Also, I will probably play sometime in the morning, perhaps pretty early as I am going to be 3HRs ahead... -
LOL, so you did end up buying new clubs... good for you...
-
I'm be in SF for a few days in about 1 1/2 weeks...What are some good courses to get a few rounds in? I've made a list but will probably only get a chance to play 2-3 rounds here... -Lincoln Park Golf Course -Gleneagles International Golf Course -The Presidio Golf Course -Harding Park -Sharp Park Golf Course

2 months to practice! what would you do?
Comeback City replied to AF_SGT's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I think you need to really evaluate yourself and where you're at. Maybe keep a journal and make notes of your weaknesses/strengths and chart your improvement. That should certainly give you some confidence. And then target your weaknesses and build on your strengths. Get better every day... -
You might need a few rounds to break them in and you'll be fine...

Bam: http://blogs.golf.com/equipment/2009...woods-bay.html Wedges: Nike Victory Red (56°), SV (60°)
-
I'm pretty sure he'd always been playing them this year...I think he kept one SV Tour in his bag and his other wedge was a VR...not 100% on this, but I'm pretty sure he had an SV Tour in his bag this year. Edit: I just checked the leaderboards...ouch Tiger, +2 on Friday...
-
Thanks a lot buddy, that's exactly what I ordered...should be adequate...I'll be packing in towels and I'll look into that Club Glove Stiff Arm. Turns out I will actually be going to SF in 2 weeks and Chicago in 3 weeks...so it looks like I might be using it a little more than I thought....hopefully everything goes well

I just ordered a dozen online to see what the hoopla's all about...I'm excited to test them out... -
Anyone give this a shot before? www.golfdigest.com/makemebetter I just got my new issue of GD today and there was a small excerpt saying there's a free swing lesson...you just have to register and upload a video of your swing...anyone do this before??
-
Sounds like you need some new Irons! No, but seriously, just hit up the range and I think you'll be fine...
-
Cool. Thanks for the heads up...can't imagine Nike's too thrilled with him not using the VR Blades though...but I guess '08 was a good year for Woods.
