  1. I hear the weather is milder in Cincy than Chicago, when do you normally have to pack the clubs in for the winter? Thanks for the course ideas.
  2. So i've been a lifelong resident in Chicago, however, starting next month I will be living in Mason, OH, a suburb of Cincinnati. So i'm looking for some courses to try, cheap courses, hard courses, hill courses, long courses, just a general feel of where and when to golf would be great. I'm a duffer, so I would love to find a course near Mason where I can just go and play, where I can easily walk on, and not spend too much money, i.e. less than $50 to walk. Any suggestions or ideas for courses to try would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  3. I would say the best advice is, practice, practice, practice. If you're just starting out, there are a million things that can easily be fixed by hitting balls at the range and hitting chips and puts at the practice greens. If you find a place with a nice chipping green your in luck, it will let you practice some longer chips and even sand shots, they will really help you around the green. Look at it this way, I hit my 3,4,5 iron maybe 10-12 times a round, I use my putter 30-40 times a round, where can I easily lose shots, putting and chipping, if I get that putting number down into the 20's thats 10-20 shots right there. If you go to the range and hit a bucket of balls working on your longer irons and woods you'll get better, if you hit a wall picking up a teacher for a couple of lessons can easily put you back on track.
  4. Ok so I don't get it. What exactly are these "four magic moves" designed to fix? A lot of what he talks about, ball adress, grip, weight shift, aren't revelutionary concepts and are pretty standard fare for how to hit a successfull golf shot. The only major concept that seems off base is the "reverse wrist break" of the right hand. To me the only thing this would accomplish is to totally avoid any possibility of rolling the wrists and it would almost force you to come at the ball from the inside and get into that mythical "slot" position. Is this the major focus of the "four magic moves" to give you that slot feel and lag position through moves that are more restrictive and more unnatural and therefore more repetitive? So I rambled a bit there, here's my question in list format: 1) What do these moves propose to fix? What problems would be alleviated? 2) How do the moves or ideas fix the above problems? 3) Why is it not better to stay with a more conventional swing? 4) Who, on the PGA tour now, uses this swing? If no one uses it, why is it not used in the PGA tour today?
  5. So yesterday I golfed 9 holes. I walked the course and I don't recall feeling any pain while on the course. Shortly after I got home, however, my big toe has begun seriously hurting, like I strained something or pulled something in it. It especially hurts when I take my normal swing and I follow through and push off of my right foot onto my toes. Any ideas what I did and how to avoid it during future rounds? Any ideas how to help my current situation? (Other than rest it ) If I had to I could probably play through it, but I would hate to do more damage.
  6. No question it's Jack for me, great memories of watching Jack at the masters with my dad, and it's hard not to choose the guy who'se clubs you first learned to swing with. Gotta love those Jack Blades, when I just started out hitting a 3 iron blade, I would feel it all the way up my arm on a miss hit.
  7. http://villagelinksgolf.com/ A very fun course, challenging long, and it even has a really cool 9 hole course that was originally the front 9 for the 18 hole course that is very well maintained. Until recently it used to be part of the qualifying for the Western Open at Cog Hill.
  8. I'm a Banker.
