  1. you felt comfortable with +1.5" and your pga pro (who actually teaches golf for a living and has no doubt seen dozens of swings) tells you to get +1.5" and the idiot golf smith employee measures you, compares you to a rule of thumb chart and tells you to get +.5"... seems like a no brainer to me, pal.
  2. Do you think the pro's could shoot par (or lower) on for every round on every course they play if they dont ever "go for it" or play aggressive shots?
  3. I play in these and have no problems.
  4. loft, lie, head type (oversized heads, player cavities, blades), shaft stiffness/weight, overall build quality, grooves, feel.. lots of differences.
  5. This post is directed at you and anyone else who is insisting the stat that he is 5'1" is absolutely correct. Have ANY of you ever seen him and stood directly behind him (i.e behind him in line at a gas station snack shop) or anywhere even remotely close to him? No? Yea, I didn't think so. I don't know the kid, I've never spoken to him, I don't know any of his friends, however I DO know that he is NOT 5'1". He was standing in front of me in sandals and I was wearing my top siders and he was still less than 4-6" shorter than me. I'm 5'8" So you can do the math. I'm not trying to take away anything from the guy. He IS short and whether the 314 yard average stat was accurate or not I do not know, but he sure does have a lot of power for someone of his stature. However, we don't really know if he (like amateurs) is hitting his driver "all-out" or if he (like most of the pro's) is swinging moderately in order to get good distance while maintaining control. Obviously if it is the latter than the 314 average is much more impressive. Stats aren't everything. Whether he hits it 200 or 400 yards off the tee, at the end of the round/tournament his score is his score. i doubt thats why any of us are "adding" height to Tad. How often does Tiger (6'1", 180 according to golf channel) average 314 off the tee? I'm sure most of us arent in anywhere near as good as shape as Tiger so If Tad is averaging a higher driving distance (even if only for that one tournament - YES i KNOW they dont play on the same tour) then I don't see why anyone here would think Tad is more of a man or whatever than them. I'm saying Tad isn't 5'1" because he really is not 5'1". As I've said a few times already, his power and distance is impressive, but I don't feel like any less of a player because he hits it longer than I do. He's on tour for a reason. /rant.
  6. Exactly, find a new instructor and work on the fundamentals of the game - grip, swing plane, tempo, stuff like that. Secondly, it's very true that every player has a bad day, even the pro's. Tiger missed the cut at a major this year, John daly just shot an 81.. an 81 (maybe good for you and me, but for a pro? ha!)
  7. If you play better with hybrids, get the hybrids. I personally learned to just use 5 and 3 woods but when I was learning to golf I knew nothing of hybrids so i didn't really have a choice. I'm 20 yrs old
  8. you really don't have that many options.. 1. choke up on driver 2. take a lesser club 3. hit it normal, dont be a pansy :)
  9. I go to the range in shorts, t-shirt, and flip flops all the time. Seems to me like you may have a problem hitting push fades? Your grip looks strong (right hand too far under the club) and your clubhead is pretty open at the top of your swing.
  10. I see, thanks :) So you do you have regular flex shafts? Do you like having ~10g heavier fairway shafts?
  11. I'm 20 (21 in a little over a week, so still well within my "testosterone flowing days") and I I definitely would've finished the round. Why did you even need to be at the house party at any given time? And not to sound like a jackass, but were you desperate for some um... female company? Girls come and go (and i'm sure you know that there is no shortage of them) but having a good round of golf isn't as easy as picking up a girl at a house party. Plus it was your friend's sister.. if i had a hot sister and any of my friend's touched her I would beat the hell out of them. That said, although I don't necessarily agree with your decision to abandon the round to get with your "friend's" sister, I commend you on your moment in hook-up history :)
  12. i see a couple of solutions to the problem. 1. ignore him, play better than him even when he's trash talking. 2. tell him to cut it out (but if he does you'd better play better than you did when he was talking or else he'll have more reason to laugh at you)
  13. best idea = play par 3 courses. real game exposure
  14. don't you think that extra practice shot affects your overall score even if it's not the one that goes on the scorecard? The "confidence" you gain when you hit that practice shot well, or the irritation it might create when you don't hit it the way you wanted to?
