  1. Thanks for all the advice. I took all your advice and went to the course very prepared. Rained for one hole and ended up being a BEAUTIFUL day! Weather....sooooo unpredictable.
  2. that might be the dumbest thing i've ever heard...
  3. u're better off trying to find golfers that became a single handicap in a year. i would think that would be much more likely, though extremely rare. finding someone who became scratch in a year is almost impossible.
  4. i'll take pictures.
  5. i called today when it was raining to confirm my teetime and they didnt mention anything to me about the course being closed. I should of asked for their raindate policy...
  6. I got a teetime tomorrow, and I've been waiting all week to go out. Its supposed to rain on and off all day, but I still want to make it out there. Any tips on going out in the rain? Extra preparations? We've all been caught playing when it started raining, but would you go out if u KNEW it was gonna rain?
  7. I lived in NJ for a while. I even renewed my Bergen County card this year. I'm game for a round pretty much any time. We should make a golf outing for all the members on here that live in the area sometime over the summer...
  8. I'll watch anything if Tiger is in it. Make a channel that follows Tiger all day long and his practice sessions....I'll buy a TV dedicated for just that channel.
  9. yeah...i'm at the practice range in Douglaston a few times a week. Let's head out there together sometime...or if u ever see me there, say what's up. I'm probably the only guy there with a red titleist bag.
  10. we've all done this before at the range... watch Padraig Harrington do it. http://blogs.golf.com/presstent/2009...morestyle.html
  11. all the NYC muni courses are overpacked, not well kept due to massive foot traffic and ppl not taking care of the courses, expensive and LONG LONG rounds. I usually only go to those for twilight rounds just to practice. The courses in long island are VERY nice however. Why pay $41 for a 18 holes on a poorly kept muni when I can drive an hour out and play for the same price and a much better kept course?
  12. if u want to keep true to yourself, i say keep it out.
  13. thanks all! she's competitive in everything we do together. I think she wants to learn golf so she can beat me. i'm taking her to a short 4000yd golf course with no par 5s. Pretty easy course. We'll see what happens...
  14. She's really starting to love golf. We spent the whole Sunday a couple weeks ago watching the Masters. I left for a few hours during the day to go to Twilight and when I got home, she was still watching it by herself. On her days off, she's always asking to go to the pitch and putt or driving range. But she doesn't love golf as much as I do...or she just doesnt have the discipline and desire to pound in hours a day like I do. She just wants to be able to have fun playing. People who play golf just for casual fun just never seem to improve...
  15. I've been seriously playing a year now. After countless hours practicing last year, I went from playing 110 to a bogey game within last season. I practiced, researched, read, studied, watched, everything I could to improve. My goal is to get consistently in the low 80s by the end of the year. That means more practice practice practice. My gf has realized since last year that I spend all my time with golf, so she decided to make a concious effort to learn so she could play with me. Last fall, I got her a 10 set of lessons, bought her a starter women's golf club set and take her to the range with me 2-3 times a week. Me, I've worked extra hard to get where I am. Her, she's just trying to learn so she can spend time with me. I have yet to take her to the course, but I'm taking her for the first time this week. What should I expect and how should I get her to improve so we can actually have FUN playing golf together? Does she need more lessons? I would love to find her another female playing partner, but serious female golfers seem hard to come by. Bottom line, I want her to be good enough so we can enjoy playing golf together. How do I accomplish this?
  16. thats an awesome well thought out gift. Most wives or girlfriends buy their significant others at best a golf club or round. Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime
  17. actually, Flushing. I've been playing, like seriously playing, a year now. I play a bogey game. I've been hooked to the game and try to play or practice whenever I can. I usually play the Long Island courses. If anyone ever wants to play or is looking for a serious practice partner, let me know. I would like to meet someone that is as serious about improving their games as I am. Matt
  18. I did the same thing with my TaylorMade R7 this winter. I called TaylorMade and told them what happened and they replaced the driver head free of charge. Try calling the manufacturer. You may be surprised what they'll be willing to do for you.
  19. which hand did you break?
  20. I got the same exact grips, in red. I LOVE them. I recommend them to everyone.
  21. I finally started keeping track of my scores this year, and my handicap is said to be 17.1. I've played at 5 different course, and have yet to break 90 this year, but it says my handicap is 17.1 Does this sound right?
