Since I work in a Pro Shop, I have gathered a whole passel of golf shirts, Nike, Alsworth, etc and I wear one of those with Bermuda shorts, white socks and golf shoes. The shoes are white with the brown saddle.

Thats the same thing I do when I try to roll the toe like they are refering to. I have to play it the way I have for years and the one thing that I have to work on is timing. If I break my wrists too soon I lose a bunch of power and distance. Right now my 5 iron is killing me. It's a transition club for me and I can't seem to figure out if I should sweep it or hit down on it.
-
Hope you find it OK......let us know how you come out. I'd be lost without my 7 iron. Do a lot of chipping with it!

I use a $1.00 Vegas slot machine coin!

Hey, I do go to Canton (First Monday) alot but I go for the antlers and to shop around. We are having an ART SHOW at the country club where I work during the Dogwood Trails and the other show will be a one man show at the Museum here in Palestine. Looking forward to that.

Putting, I think is probably the only part of the game that can differ in it's technique, one person to another! If you look at the swing of the pros with their drivers and irons they are amazingly alike at impact! The putter is entirely different. Also, when it comes to putters and technology, I think whatever feels good for you is OK. A pro could take a Target putter and do fine with it, as well as he could do with a $300.00 putter.

I probably could improve a bunch if I hit more buckets and played more but I am working every day at my art trying to get ready for two shows this winter and spring. I have about 15 paintings to do and I do drawings and Native American art on gourds also. Masks with horns and figures. Love the sculpture effect that gourds give. Anyway, my golf game will have stay on the back burner for awhile till I get my art together! I also make deer and elk horn knives and do leather work. That also will have to stay in the background for awhile.

I use to fly fish with my dad. We had some trying times in a boat. I'd love to trout fish up in the mts. My dad, who is 95 still rides his horses and drives around town and he and my mom just celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary.

Sorry about that......my son played on the Nike Tour for a few years and he scores in the mid to low 70s consistantly. Myself, I had to give up golf about 6 years ago due to hip problems. I had the hip replaced and now I'm back out there hitting the links like old except for my swing and score. I haven't beaten him in 20 years and might not ever beat him again but it took him about 7 years to finally beat me. Once he did, I was history. If I can get lucky I might give him some trouble. We use to play together and it was nip and tuck all the way. The best round we ever had ended up 70 to 68. He beat me on the last hole. He told me the other day that he really didn't appreciate what we had going all those years till I had to quit back in 99 and now he loves seeing me back out there with him. Golf is a great game for relationships and good for life!

I tied my son on the back nine yesterday. It was neat to come that close. He had a bad round and I played a little over my head but I shot a 42 and he also. He beat me by 7 on the front tho so it ended up 79 to 86. I found my right position and stance for my driver on the back nine and was pounding them out there again like I use to. I hit a couple about 270. Really felt good. I went back to the open stance and come from the inside. It shortens my back swing some but gives me the delayed hit I've been searching for. I had a slight fade which is normal with that stance but when I square everything up it seems I can't get my body out of the way. Open stance allows me to do that. We both birdied no. 15. a 525 yd par five. He was on the green in two going for an eagle and I thought I hit a bad 9 iron but it ended up two feet from the pin. I holed mine and he two putted. It was fun even if I didn't get under 80.

I had forgotten about the bananas and haven't been eating them of late. Need the potassium for sure! Thanks for that. I'll get back to eating them, and yes getting old is the pits! I wonder if Viagra would help?

It seems I can't play a round without getting excruciating leg cramps the next morning. I drink lots of soda, tea and if I don't drink a couple jugs of Gatorade I'm in trouble the next morning. Gatorade and Powerade help but they aren't my "cup of tea" so to speak! Whats the best thing for the cramps?

I saw that hole in one before and that is probably the most amazing one recorded on film. A ball sitting there that long and then moves defies science and gravity. Golf gods must have done that! I have no idea where my golf course is located. That sounds strange, doesn't it!

I've played most of my life and it is one game that you CAN play all your life if you stick with it. To improve and get down in the 70s you must play at the least, 3 times a week along with bucket after bucket of range balls. Its imperative that you hit those buckets to build the muscles and create muscle memory. Whats really bad tho is to get down to scratch and then stay away from golf for a time and then take it up again and shoot in the 80s and struggle. I hate to go out and hack around a course after playing consistantly in the low 70s.

I love to play in the Florida Scrambles! Loads of fun. Good luck to ya and the bosses. Stay cool and show those blokes how it's done!

Interesting post.....thats super that your grand parents have 12 between them. Great stuff and would be great to listen to them talk about those. Your 3 on the last hole was definitely a gift from the golf gods! They are the ones that let you have the hole-in-ones. Got to be!

Good post.....I will check out the books. My son brought me a good book titled "The Encyclopedia Of Golf Techniques". It just about covers everything you need to know about the game. Good book! Now, if I could just knock off 5 to 10 strokes I'd be in the 70s.

Amazing that you can the ball airbourne with that degree. I can hit the 8 degree but I don't get the distance in the air I need to get optimum distance. You must have good clubhead speed!
-
I have a tendency to hurry my downswing also , sorta like hitting from the top. I need to pull down with the butt of the club toward the ball and get the delayed hit. Do you actually hit a 7.5 degree driver? That is really upright! I bought a 8 degree and I can't hit it.
-
I don't do that but I do keep a record of how many girs and putts I have. It really tells you where your game is.

Good post and "tempo" is really the key. I think slowing down the backswing allows you to get a feel for the right tempo. Ernie Els does have a smooth tempo, doesn't he!
-
I love that about your father! I wish I could beat my son just once. I'd rub it in forever! I strumed on him for years but the day he beat me was the end. Haven't beaten him since. I came close one time, shot my best round ever, a 70 but he shot 68.

If I was you, I'd teach her everything I could!

I started playing when I was 16 years old and I've been to the heights and down to the lows over the years. In my twenties I played par and on rare occassions under par. Quit for 10 years to coach little league baseball with my two sons. Took it back up around 40 and never regained the feel I once had. Got down to around a 7 handicap and now I'm struggling to stay under 85 all the time.
