If I can help someone better their score by telling them what I hit then I'm more than happy to do so. Club in my hand is right there for all to see. Why would anyone want to hide from others what iron they hit?

I guess I'm fortunate to be around some high school young men that don't have to brag about their scores. For the past two years they have won the State Title and the medalist honors. They are for the most part quiet and sure of their ability. They shoot in the mid to low 70s and three of the 5 "A teamers" received scholarships.

It is a combination of coming over the top and coming up out of the swing too quickly. If the left shoulder swings left too fast and you are casting the club you will have a tendency to toe hit the ball. The thing to do is start your downswing by planting your left heel and pulling down with the left arm. The result will be a delayed hit and less chance of hitting from the top. I am assuming you are right handed.

Thanks, I'll see if I can get my wife to get it on here. She is a wonder with these darn puters!

I thought I'd get my avatar on here but I can't seem to find the path. Need help and thanks!

The place to work on all those swing thoughts is on the driving range. Try to reduce your swing thoughts on the course to one.

When the commercials come on I just change to another program. I can't go watching the same old Medicus, range finder, wedges and necklace show over and over. I'd rather watch the Western Channel!

Over the years, I changed clubs about every 15 years. Right now, I have two sets of irons......Ping Zings and Callaway great big berthas. I love hitting the Callaways, they just appeal to me when looking down at them at address. My woods are all different and I love my Cubic Balance offset driver with no grooves. I hit it about 240 to 260 and it's been my workhorse for some time now.

No doubt, you've played on some fine courses. To-hell-you-ride is awesome I understand. I played on some south of Tucson in Green Valley that will make your mouth fall open in awe. I love Arizona in the winter. Spent 10 years out there just above Tombstone in St. David. Did the Cowboy thing with the Buscaderos and I did a poster for them that is selling in the stores out there now for $50.00. I get to rob the train depot here in Palestine once a month and thats a blast and I robbed the stagecoach in Jackson Hole, Wy at Old West Days over the past 6 years. I love going up there but getting shot down on the pavement is tough. No give in that stuff. Hard on my Vaqueros also.

I haven't been in the market for ladies clubs of late so I'm not sure about the availability of clubs with the length you may have to have. Go to a Pro or a good Pro Shop and be fitted with the right clubs for you. Do not try to do this on your own.......get help!

How did you come out?

I think it is easier to reduce the number of boggies etc than make birdies and eagles, however, having said that, both kinda go hand in hand. When you start making more pars, you're GIR will improve and your chances of dropping more birdies will be enhanced. No doubt about that!

None at all. My son plays with me and coaches me more than I need. Well, maybe not more than I need but he stays on me about my swing. He is an ex pro (doesn't have his card anymore) but he stills knows what he is talking about!

If you are enjoying the game the way you are playing then do your thing. Golf should be fun and not a chore with all kinds of pressure at your stage. You will improve and soon you will play by the rules but while you are in the process of learning, go ahead and have fun. Don;t let others tell you any different.

Looks good from the rear!

I feel for ya and I know there is not much you can say or do with these folks cause they will only get upset with you if you protest their actions. You either have to be satisfied with the situation or not play at all, it appears to me. Do your best and hang in there. You might see if you can get on one of the better teams even tho they are rating you as an A player.

What she has just said is so true. My son has been telling me that for weeks now. He keeps pounding on me to slow it down and find the right tempo. I am working on it big time right now but the place to work on the driver is the driving range and not the course. Work it out there and don't give up on the driver cause there is not much in the golf game more exciting than seeing a 250 to 300 yd drive down the middle.

My son and I played Pine Dunes here in Texas Wed. and it is really a nice course. The ball sets up nice and the greens are 9.5 on the speed index. I didn't play all that well but I had one birdie and quite a few pars. It is long and rather tough on me cause I'm not where I want to be after my surgery. Anyway, this course is rated one of the top 5 muni courses in the state. The driving range, chipping and putting greens are worth the bucks we paid to play.

I think what you are expierancing is a fairly common problem with golfers. I play better by myself cause I think my way around the course better. When I'm with others my mind is not 100% on my next shot like it should be. I know when I play with my son, he intimidates me with his long play and I try to stay up with him and over swing. So, don't feel like the Lone Ranger on this one.

The toughest hole at Hilltop Lakes is called Bear Claw and nearly all the retirees there have to lay up to a lake on a par 4. A stream runs accross the fairway out about 230 yds so everyone lays up to that and then hits over onto the fairway short of a lake and then goes for the green in three. I hit a 5 wood during a tournament close to the stream and then hit it again over the stream and the lake into the hole for an eagle. What made it great was my son just drove up and walked over to me and asked me if I was going to hit a 5 iron and I told him "NO", think I'll hit this 5 wood again. It worked and I'm the only one they know of that eagled that hole.

I will be working in the Pro Shop and playing when the weather permits!

How true that statement is! I sttod right beside Payne Stewart in Houston and watched him swing and I was amazed at the power he had at the ground.

I usually average around 32 to 34 putts per round and I'm not playing well right now, but even if I can get the handicap down the putting won't drop much. It's rather difficult to get the putting strokes down very much as you can see how the pros average. They make alot of 5 to 8 footers that we miss.
