  1. Not on is it.. Like i said, short of actually falling with the person what can you do..
  2. I have a natural draw which if anything is as a result of a weak left hand and a strong right.. Plus a slightly flat left arm plane. The best way to see if you're getting you club face to close is to experiment with your grip and take a full power practice shot, Then return to the centre and see what your clubface has done.. if it's closed then it should stay closed...
  3. That sucks big time. My regular partner is similar.. We've been playing together for three years now since i took up the game. He had already been playing for about 15 years at this point and playing off about 15 .. I've gradually brought my handicap down over this time whilst his stayed at 15. He has always taken the odd shot off his score on bad holes but recently my handicap has gone down to 12(through lessons and hard work) and his has miraculously gone down to 8(through deceipt) The other day i caught him cheating on three separate occasions. 1 count of : Miraculously finding a ball that had gone out of bounds 'In bounds' 1 count of : Improving his lie by moving the ball with his club head at address 1 count of: 'Finding' his ball in the rough and playing the shot then walking forward and finding his actual ball and putting it on his trolley. (The only ball on his trolley and easily identified by the make and his initials) And that's just the 3 times I saw him do it. If he's that desparate to win perhaps he should find a new partner who's a beginner. Also, I've only actuallly beaten him once previously because all the other times i've opened a can of whoopass.. he's picked up on holes to void his card. He is also reluctant to play in competitions.. presumably because he knows if he gets caught in a comp the person he's playing with will say something, where as I won't because it's not worth falling out over. In short.. you are not alone
  4. Plenty of Magazines and teaching videos show you what the grip should look like.. which is all very well but it's always from a front on view. How many of them show you from a first person view.. Not one that i've seen. It's pretty hard to translate because the perspective is totally different.
  5. Two words Weight Transfer.. Try firing your hips into the shot and concentrate less on the arms. Should work as long as you have a good coil.
  6. Good question!!! In my opinion the answer is no because it's impractical and can only damage the games reputation. I do think that more courses should have a marshall though. Maybe a button near the tee box (like on an airplane) so that you can alert the marshall after you've been waiting on the tee for 15 minutes. My biggest gripe is slow play and has ruined many a promising round for my golf partner and I. And for people to say that it shouldn't bother us is annoying because most half decent golfers take the game very seriously. In fact if you want to be any good at the game you have to. Maybe a big board next to the first tee with commonly broken rules/etiquette and a Explanatory pictures. There are lot's of people who don't even know what a pitch mark or a divot are let alone that you are supposed to repair them. And many experienced golfers still think that you have 5 minutes before you have to let someone through if you have lost your ball when in actual fact you should actually let people straight through if they are waiting on the tee The biggest image on the board should be a person stood on the tee behind with his hands on his hips hanging his/her head and shaking it in an exagerrated fashion... so that people know what it looks like when they are p*ssing people off with slow play End of rant
  7. I resorted to a baseball grip once and couldn't believe it when i actually hit the ball because it feels so un-natural. But on that score.. if you are gripping the club to weakly(open) and you try to strengthen(close) your grip that feels un-natural too. The problem with the baseball grip is that it can cause you to set your right shoulder to low and cause instability.
  8. lol... thanks.. i've had it in My Picutres for ages and just new it would come in handy sooner or later...I think it's from the ford championship last year where Tiger narrowly beat Farmer Phil. Good idea with the credit card btw.. I actuall normally use a lollipop/popsicle stick which is a bit safer but not many people keep them in their golf bag.
  9. My advice if you think you are opening the club face in the take away would be to put a pencil in your glove so it sits against the back of your hand and then take a practice swing. If you are opening the club face the pencil will put pressure on the back of your hand and may even snap.. a neutral takeaway should not increase the pressure of the pencil on your hand.
  10. That used to happen to me a lot.. I would be playing beautifull one minute then all of a sudden.. gone! shankaroo! My problem was standing too close to the ball so now i always check the position of my hands in relation to my feet at address. I realised that was the problem when i compared a video of my shank with a video of my benchmark swing (as i call it). So that would be my tip.. If you feel you are playing particularly well at any time video the swing and use it as a benchmark for when you are having problems..
  11. Spot on dude.... if you are swinging on the right plane and cocking you're wrists correctly even the weakest grip will feel solid as a rock. I find that laying the club off at the top helps as well.
  12. Sound Advice i say.. My Handicap dropped from an inconsistent 23 to a rock solid 12 literally overnight after my pro got me on this drill..
