  2. He does have a swing thread going, but only posted once. He has a language disability, so i think the forum in intimidating for him. I might take it over - at least the typing part. :) His username is OCS. Thanks again, everyone!
  3. Hey all, Just an update. He didn't play as well as he hoped. He was intimidated by the number of players - many being seniors. I think he tied for 46th out of 67 players. I told him not to sweat it. He is just a freshman, and he should be proud to have even gone that far. Plus he was not in the bottom either. On to next year! He is already practicing because he wants to completely kick butt next year. (He took 3 years off from golf and only started playing again just before the season started in September.) Thank you all for your kind words!! :)
  4. @Valleygolfer - Do you mean The Shattuck or Waukewan? He played The Shattuck (Jaffrey) which is considered the most difficult course, but today we practiced at Waukewan (Center Harbor) for the state championships and it sounds like the holes you're describing. :) I walked all 18 with Mack and his teammate. Pretty course!
  5. That's great! Is your season ending too? I'm going to be sad to see it end. Thanks, everyone! He played well yesterday (tied for 2nd out of 21 players) and today he's playing 2 hours away at the "hardest course in our state", according to his coach. Yikes! After today, he will be practicing for the championship. We're going to go play the course on Sunday. (By we, I mean him and his teammate - with me driving the cart.) ;) The tournament is Thursday, so we have a week to get ready. Here's a nice hit from yesterday.
  6. Here's a short video of his swing the other day. He's still tweaking it, but he's looking pretty good. (He took 3 years off from golf before this season, but played tournaments almost every summer before that since he was 8.) We saw an awesome instructor the other day who gave him some great tips! 7. I owe you a photo of him with the bag. Right now he is using the school logo bag, but has to give it back after next week. He will be using your bag after that. Thank you again! We are division III. We were II last year, I'm told, but got bumped down because we are such a small district. I think next Thursday, he plays against other Division III kids, and then whomever makes the top 10-20 (not sure) moves on to Saturday, when I assume all of the divisions' individuals play. I'm not sure though. I'm new to this team golf thing.
  8. Thank you! Yes, I will get pictures! I'm hoping to find a good camera with a zoom lens.
  9. I will.Thank you! :)
  10. I'm super excited! I was just told by my son's high school golf coach that he and another player will be competing in the individual class at our state championships. (We live in NH.) Some of you may recall, I started a thread a couple of months ago trying to find a similar used driver to the Taylormade M2 for my son. We can't afford much for equipment. @RandallT kindly sent us a SLDR driver that he had, and @Buckeyebowman sent a golf bag. @iacas was also really helpful, and @amoline has become a good friend that I chat with daily! Many others here on TST have been incredibly kind and helpful as well, and I'm so grateful! Anyway, our main goal was for him to make the team - which he did. Then out of the team of 12, 7 get to play in the tournaments based on their practice scores. Mack has always made the top 7 and has played the tourneys. Then he made it to the #1 slot and has been hitting in Group 1 and playing against seniors and juniors mostly. (He's a skinny freshman.) Now, I'm told he's going to state! I'm incredibly proud of him. He has worked very hard practicing. He has a lot going against him - parents who don't golf, little access to driving ranges, budget clubs and equipment, a neurological disability (APD) - yet he still perseveres. :) Thank you all for following my son's journey! I'll keep you updated if you'd like. Here's a pic of him all dressed up for homecoming last weekend. ;)
  11. Hi everyone! I just wanted to let you know that we had a great time! We went on the Saturday, and it was really fun. I think one of the best parts was watching the pros hit off the 18th tee from just a few feet away. I can't wait to go next year!
  12. @Vinny Cap - That's great! I have an 11-y-o too, but he's not into golf and is very against walking long distances. ;) He gets overheated easily. Enjoy! :)
  13. That's great! How old is your son? Your reply made me laugh!
  14. Thank you all for the responses. Now I'm thinking that we will go down on practice day and skip school. He just made his high school golf team, so it might also put some fire in his butt. (Not that he needs it. He's playing well right now.) :)
  15. He could skip. I just hate to do that since it's a new school to him. I guess I'll ask. Do you think watching the practice sessions are good to see? It's free to get in.
