  1. Cool!!!!! I never thought of that. I have plenty of picks and will use them. Thx for the idea. I will also buy the TST maker.
  2. Got back yesterday. I agree with most of you. I WILL bring my clubs from now on. For each course, the rentals were a mixed set of clunky, fat irons and woods I never heard of. No 3, 4 or 5 irons and no hybrids. Old, worn and not very clean grips. And who knows what kind of shafts were used. I know this isn't common, since I know some friends who rented clubs on their vacations and rented some great TMs, Callaways. Even myself, 9 years ago in Kapalua, rented some awesome Ping I 3+ irons. I guess you get what you pay for, since I paid $15 and $25 to rent. Although the courses were country clubs with very upscale pro shops, etc. Anyways, thanks for all your input. One more question. What do you guys travel with: cart bags or stand bags? Even for 4+ days golf, a stand bag should be ok, only needing enough pockets for tees, balls and gloves? Plus it would be lighter, to then carry an extra pair of shoes in the travel bag. Then I won't have to spend the money on the large Club Glove Last bag. I can get their Burst Proof, or the Ogio bag. So long as I can put the CG Stiff Arm in there as well. Then use the money saved for golf. Or beers after the round. Just looking for ideas.
  3. Score is not important to me, and yup, I simply love to play golf. Especially since I am on vacation, taking lessons one day, playing the rest. Of course, if I were playing 3+ days, I would bring my own then.
  4. As I mentioned in previous thread, Monday my brother and I are going to Fla for golf. He is taking a 2 day group class. I am doing 1 day, then golf the next. Class is 3 morning hours on the range, then 9 holes with the instructor after lunch. How much, if called for, should I tip him for my one day, and how much for my brother for both days? I pay, with club rentals, $200 and him $400+.
  5. Thanks for all your comments and ideas. My brother got his bag, and will pay the $40 extra bag fee each way. Renting clubs, where we will be is only $25, so for me to buy one of the two bags I am interested in: Ogio Straightjacket or the ClubGlove(and Stiff Arm), to use a year from now again, I will put that money to use. Got a good alternative option . Rather than rent, pay greens fees, then the money for a 45 min or 60 minute private lesson, for $200, I can join in his the full day class: 3 hours on the range(lessons, practice, evaluations, etc), have lunch, then play 9 holes with the instructor. Then a round afterwards if we choose too. HELL YES. I will take advantage. Not only are the rentals included in this price, my brother gets $50 discounted from his price. It might be costing me $50 - $70 more than what I planned, yet why not. I can always us lessons. Especially on the course. Then the next day I will simply rent clubs and pay the $35 greens fees on the other course.
  6. Hi all, Next week I will fly down to Orlando with my brother. He is going for a 2 day lesson package, since he only played a few times. I will go as a vacation and to play a round each day. And take a private lesson to have my swing evaluated. He is is going to buy a travel bag, since he is fitted +2" in length and needed jumbo grips. After reading many travel bag reviews here, I will have him get the Ogio Straight Jacket. Decent price. I might get one too. Me flying to play golf once every couple of years, I don't need anything more $$$. I can then wrap clothing around my woods for protection. I am waiting to find out rental rates also, to determine if it's worth buying a bag. Yet I do have a question. I was fitted for my clubs grip size -1 and club length +1.25. Will renting standard length clubs really make a huge difference playing? Will it cause any problems? I am only trying to see if it's worth spending the money on a bag I might not use for some time again. Plus, a curiosity question. Anyone fly Jetblue with their clubs? I was on their website regarding golf luggage. Within their weigh limits. Makes sense. I will leave my Titleist cartbag home and use my very old Sun Mountain featherweight stand bag. Only a few pockets, yet for 2 days in sunny Fla, doable. 14 clubs and one pair of shoes. Ok, understandable. Here's the kicker, 3 golf balls. What???? Unless that was a web mistake. Unless they meant 3 boxes? We aren't pros, and to use only 3 balls playing 2 or more rounds is rare. I was going to ask them about it, yet who knows how long it will take to get through to customer service and who knows if the person I talk to will know anything. I will buy a box once down there. I will find a GG, PGA Super store, whatever. Then pack another pair of shoes in my regular luggage.
  7. Beautiful bag. I am now more and more considering the black. The blue highlighting, is a nice contrast. How do the size and weight compare to your other cart bag? Big or minor difference? I will be using this mostly on Bag Boy push cart, and soon I will be getting a Clicgear, easier to fit in the trunk of my VW.
  8. J, did you get your bag yet?
  9. Hmmm. Interesting. I apologize for hacking into this thread, yet, I have the same concern with a gap wedge, regardless of manufacturer. Part of the iron set or an actual wedge?
  10. Am thinking of getting another putter. Maybe the Scotty Circa 62 from Ebay. Yet also might want one of the black Pings. I currently have the Scotty Newport Select blade. I see all sorts of putters with inserts, whether it be the solid plastic/rubber or now "Groove Inserts" slotted inserts? Do these actually serve a purpose? Are these just for personal feel? And if I go the Ebay way, I would want the same length as my current. When measuring the length, is it from the top of the shaft(grip) to the top of the putter head, or including the entire putter head?
  11. So I assume it won't be available to us public any time soon, if at all. Bummer. I like the look, similar to the old Circa 62s, yet love the dancing letters for Scotty Cameron on front and back. Thanks!
  12. Could anyone tell me what model Scotty putter Jordan used at the Master?
  13. Cool! One thing I am curious about is the weight. The Titleist bag is 6.6lbs, where this is 8.3lbs. Will you feel the difference? I don't carry, it will be on my Clicgrear push cart when I get one, currently on my Bagboy cart, or riding on hot days or outings. I can't find a store selling the SM bag. I want to see it in real life. I am torn between the white/black and shadow/black/blue. What colors did you order? I AM now thinking more and more on getting it. I have no problems on the course with my bag, yet more and more it is pissing me off, it falling over every time I am oragnizing the pockets, standing(not) it outside my car, etc Yesterday I am washing my clubs. After returning only a handfull of clubs back into the bag, "plunk", it's on the floor again. PIA!!!!!!
  14. Thank you. I look forward to your review.
  15. I agree 100%. That SM Tour series is NICE! I always liked staff bags. Yet they are heavy, huge, only have 7, 9 way tops, unnecessary and big $$$$. Except this. AND 15 way top. Don't get why 15? Nice color options too. I just might splurge on one too. First comes a new driver/3 wood combo first. Actually, Titleist has a new lightweight staff cart bag now. Excellent lookin.. Yet only 7way. And their new lightweight cart bag just doesn't look right.
  16. Could it be that you just unfotunately have one made from a bad batch? I have my Titleist Lightweight cart bag for 2 years now and have no problems with it, except for that yes, it tips over frequently. Oh, and the putter tube could be a little shorter, Other than that, the material is good, and it is holding up.
  17. It was " What kind of car do you drive to and from the golf course".
  18. No big deal, yet I started a thread yesterday and it is no longer there. When I found it under my profile, in All Posts, I can not access it, getting this message - Insufficient Permissions You do not have permission to view this thread. 19. Enjoy, I am jealous.
  20. Nice life snapfade!!!! Nothing wrong with that hilmar. If I lived where there was no snow, I would consider a minivan. Hey, back in the mid 90s, I had a Ford Winstar. Was a lemon and had so many problems with it, lost tons of money on it. But it drove great and fit all my skis stuff, luggage and golf stuff when I first took up the great sport, along with plenty of room for my buddies. Love driving a vehicle sitting high. Not to mention no poblems when buying large items that won't fit in a car.
  21. Excellent! Thanks.
  22. Yes, I agree. I also like the Bridgestone E6, but now the E5 since my drives no longer have a severe spin. Yet I do like the Titleist. Only thing about them is you can not contact them via Email. And it's a pain to call their parent company. Because I also have a question on their California putters. BUT, this is why we have this great TST forum with their great members.
  23. I am driving an 09 Jetta. It sits too low, and it's a pain getting in and out of the thing. Also, with my tunk locker, I can barely fit one cart bag and one small stand bag in the trunk. For myself only, if I have both my cart bag and push cart, one must go in the back seat. On weekend trips with my two brothers, I must fold on 1/2 of the back seats down to fit everything. This summer, am thinking of getting a Toyota Higlander or 4runner, or to save gas, a Subaru Outback. Definately want AWD and ground clearance to park in NYC winters. Just curious for ideas and opinions.
  24. Can anyone tell which of their NXT Tour model balls compare to the Pro V1 and Pro V1X? I love playing the Pro V1s, yet am not a pro and have a very high handicap. Yeah, love them for my short game. But depending on which courses I play on, I often lose a bunch during a round. Therefore at $48, I would rather pay $10+ less for their balls.
  25. Ok. Even so, he was told they will limit the length to an inch. So if in reality, he needs +1.5, or +1.25 as myself(6'), that is still hard to believem they would limit the shaft size. Not sure if it was the hybrids or irons. Regardless. I will tell him to get his money back and go to my pro shop. Thanks all.
