my neighbor gave me a 2-wheel pull cart. I stuck my stand bag on it, took it out and realized halfway through the round that the bag will not stay put due to the stand and the mechanism on the bottom. As soon as I got home the bag was off the cart and had the straps back on. Neighbor told me that's why he didn't need it, his new stand bag wouldn't stay on it. Something he didn't mention to me =P

my entire round yesterday was something better forgotten. lost 5 balls, played in the trees all day, couldnt hit a shot farther than 100yds, got a nice pw shot from about 90 to drop 4ft from the pin then I 4 putted. I almost walked off the course on the 6th hole =P

yes, he shot somewhere between a 52 and a 58... So low to mid 50's. He's never, ever picked up a club according to him and his wife, not even in highschool. His short game is horrendous, but even a noobie can make a 2 foot put now and again. he's crazy athletic, in his early 40's. His feet were all lined up wrong, he had a funny grip (somewhere between baseball and an overlap) and he twisted his whole body like a ball player, but somehow he was getting it out there. Now that I think about it, he was probably just muscling it out. He'll hurt himself that way. oh, and the course isn't that hard. We play at it because it's hugely wide open and we all suck. Some of the fairways are around 100 feet wide with over 50 feet of rough on either side before you even see a tree. And by rough I mean like a second or third cut. nothing hard to deal with.

no he's a first timer, his wife confirmed it. He played sports in HS and college, coaches kids teams, etc. It was just discouraging. But you all know I'll be back out there next time!

My neighbors and I took another neighbor out for his first time golfing ever. He hadn't even been to a driving range before. You're finally thinking, "awesome, I'm not going to be last today!" That's where it all goes down hill. The new guy hits in the low 50's on 9 holes... his first time out. he even par'd two holes and birdied another. he hits the ball a mile, and fairly straight. the last three holes I wanted to leave. But I stuck in there because it wasn't his fault I was playing horrible. I just kept congratulating him... until he started poking fun at my game. God I hope that was just beginners luck! He's a natural athlete kinda guy though.

now, if this guy would just show up and buy these nike forged blades (3-5) i'd be happy =P They're in near mint condition, i paid 20 for all 3 and i'm going to get 45. Not a bad turn around. yay for garage sales. if i sell them today, i am buying a new glove tomorrow.

i did that on a practice green today from about 45 feet (5 ft chip, 40 roll), was awesome. I got all excited and hooted really louldy. the pro that was giving a lesson ducked because he thought I bladed one right at him. was pretty funny.

I'm 30, a college graduate, still working for a grocery store. I'm married, 2 kids and, as most people, have a mountain of bills. Hell, I graduated 3 years ago and still haven't paid a penny to my student loans :( I'm happy I have useable clubs, but sometimes you wish you had more, ya know? I should be happy with what I have instead of being bitter. At least my wife lets me go golf every once in awhile.

I just went to Golf Galaxy. I held a lot of really nice clubs. Man I hate being poor some day...

I've been wearing an adjustable black Titleist hat with white stitching. It's really nice. But I just remembered that before I stopped golfing I had had problems with my game when I had switched from my Western Oregon University hat. I'm gonna pop that dirty, nasty old thing back on my head and see what gives. It is so broken in it fits me like a glove... a head glove?

I'm not a rules expert, but I think it's the second. Followed by a severe beat down.

So is there a downloadable form? I bet they want you to come in and get the form, that way they can possibly get a sale out of you. -
After taking 3.5 years off (not that I was good to begin with) I'm getting back to where I was. I played 9 holes and shaved 11 strokes off of my previous 9-hole score. The score was still horrible (60 on a par 32) but I'm just happy to see an improvement.

Another note: Did you know that golf courses are probably the most polluted land that "normal" people will ever set foot on? All the chemicals that go into making the course pretty and green year round... Do YOU want to swim in that run off? Not me... it's tempting though.

look through some of their other stuff, it's nuts! Is that a putter or just a hammer head? Did you see their "tennis racket"?

what's your budget?

I have prescription suglasses, I wear them so much that any effect they may have on my game is negligable. That and my game sucks, so they could be screwing me up big time! But yesterday one of the screws popped out and now i'm unable to wear them. I need a big magnet to search my car for the tiny black screw!

I guess if I get a hold of a drive, it'll go around 225-250. That's with a Nike Range ball though. Dunno about actually playing. Haven't had too many good drives on the course. =P

Is there any way to ballpark your swing speed without using some kind of tech?

So I'm just getting back into the game, I never was any good, but God is it addicting! I picked up a cheap set of off brand clubs(driver, 3 & 5 wood, 3-sw) at a garage sale awhile back that are all graphite. I have a SW Blade I really like but it's a steel shaft. Will using a steel shafted wedge cause problems if the rest of my clubs are graphite? I know they definitely hit differently. Should I practice with the wedge that came with the set? and for everyone who always seems to tell me, yes, I know I can get a good set of used clubs for $XXX but I don't have the money. I'll upgrade when I actually start playing more than once every other week. Or when I actually have money

Ok, as requested... here are my cheapy clubs... A 5 Iron. They're all in really good condition, if not dirty from not being cleaned...ever This says TiForm Medium Flex This is the extra driver that came with the set. It's a bubble shaft. Shaft says Power Wave, stability transfer system. Well, there they are.

This summer I'll have money I get from the family as birthday gifts... i'll look into maybe upgrading then. Or putting it towards a few lessons. I think my major stumbling block right now is the lack of practice. I have a neighbor who has golfed for 25+ years, used to be a member of the Oregon Golfer's Assoc. He went over my swing, corrected some stuff, etc. I strike the ball at the range much better now. But the range isn't the course, is it? I think I psych myself out when I play. Oh well, i need to practice more, that's a given.

Ok, so I sold some books to the local book store, and went out garage saling again. I picked up the new clubs you can see below. They're all in awesome condition. They're not a major name brand, but having matching clubs, as everyone has said, will be a huge help. Not bad for $20. are Tour Craft a clone of another club? Or just Wal-mart specials?
