  1. Although this is very to the point, in most cases it is the truth. Whatever you decide to do, dont leave out attention to your flexibility and balance.
  2. Thanks for all the info. I will check out the zerorestriction stuff. And the vests seem like a good idea too. I can take the 50's pretty well. My last 20 winters have been spent in the deer stand. I am more worried about being able to swing the club. I've got some underarmor and patagonia synthetic tops that will work for layering.
  3. I am planning on playing on into the fall/winter this year, which will be new to me. Can anybody reccomend a windbreaker/jacket type garment that you can comfortably swing a club in? We are talking 50deg and sunny would be my lower limit for enjoying myself. I would like a windproof softshell if there is one out there with enough mobility to it. Any ideas/tips good or bad would be appreciated.
  4. I have been working on this myself with the shag bag. I figured out my practice is more productive working with "free" balls. Lets me hit as many balls however i want and not feel like I'm blowing my range $$$. I was also intrigued by Miller's analysis of Stricker's swing. What catches my attention is his accuracy. If you want to score low, you better be hitting it close, and he does. From 125 and in he leads the stats or is close a lot of years. Let's face it, you aint gonna make many 25 footers, I don't care who you are. Pelz says from 2ft to 10ft people go from close to 100% to less than 25% making putts. That means hitting it close for birdie and chipping it close for par. Like they say, build your game from the green backwards. I think the less exagerated wrist cock really lets Stricker send it straight to the flag more consistently.
  5. That's hilarious My wife even commented on Mickelson the other day. "Why don't that fat guy buy some bigger shirts?" I like Ryan Moore's approach to the game as well. A good win for him.
  6. I got some strange looks from the muscle heads in the gym yesterday while I was doing some of Camilo's stuff
  7. I am putting again with my PING Anser4 I bought for $35, 24 years ago, when I was 14 years old. After saving up my money, I can still remember how happy I was when I got that putter. I have shortened it up a bit and added some lead tape. I have a new Pingman grip on the way for it too. I still want a Scotty, mostly for the reasons everyone states, but this putter will always be with me.
  8. This is one reason I have removed mine from the starting line-up for now, and gone back to my 24 year old PING Anser 4. With the Odyssey I liked the feel from 12ft on in, but I never could be consistent with it on long putts. That was my first foray into insert putters. It's a nice putter, but I figured you wanted honesty
  9. Thanks for that link. I have searched the net before trying to find info on Camilo's workouts. I had already started adjusting my workouts this summer with more core work, lots of rotation movements, and also incorporating balance everywhere I can. I picked up a move or 2 in there to work with. If a person could get the lower/upper body separation that he does, it would greatly benefit their golf swing. It's tough though. Plus he is several years younger than some of us Camilo's Twitter posts this week have been on his cycling workouts. 4 hour rides? That's serious. I don't see anyone else on tour doing that.
  10. Thanks for all the information and opinions. Good stuff. This is partly the reason I am considering a putter with only a dot or nothing at all. My problem comes more in when I move the putter away from the ball, my eyes try to follow it. Plus I square the putter to my intended line by looking at the face of the putter, not the sight line anyway.
  11. Does anybody on here putt with an Anser style putter without a sightline on the flange? Could you speak to the advantages you get from it? Do you use a dot or nothing at all? I ask because I am in the market for a Scotty Cameron and I am considering no sightline on the newport.
  12. Practice it at home some in a mirror, that way you will know exactly what it going on. I had to buy one to put out in the backyard and I am currently on the hunt for a bigger one
  13. Several times this summer I have gone to my course's range about 1.5 hour before dark. After I hit my range balls, if nobody else is there hitting, I just walk out onto the range and hit to the target greens till I can't see anymore with my 50 and 56. I dont take my rangefinder out there, just walk up to a ball, judge the distance and hit it. My 6 year old likes to do this as well.
  14. I have not read every post in this thread. I simply wanted to give another opinion that I think Tiger's actions after a bad shot are pathetic. The G** D** he dropped on the 1st tee of the US Open made my draw drop. And slamming the club down this whole past week was very classless. I have an appreciation for his talent and his relentless pursuit to get better. But as far as respect for him as an individual, forget it. Put it this way, my kids would NEVER be around him unless I was standing right there. I was glad to see ABC/ESPN take note of Tiger's actions in their montage to Tom Watson and how he has respect for the game. And also one of the Golf channel commentators spoke to it as well. People are starting to notice because it is so blatant. Tiger needs to work on his self-control as hard as he works on his golf game. As for Stewart Cink, a very classy guy. I actually played high school golf against him and we went along with our team to the state tournament years ago.
  15. Can someone please elaborate for me what is meant by a "flat left wrist"? I can deduce some from the above posts, but I don't quite understand what they are talking about. Which part ot the wrist is flat? Flat like parallel to the ground or flat like in line with the plane of your forearm?
