  1. Its hard to tell without looking at the swing in slow motion on a high speed camera, but it looks like your takeaway is a little steep. Here is an example of Tiger's takeaway, his shaft is basically parallel to the ground here, and yours looks like its already at a 45° angle at the same point. I could be wrong, but its hard to tell with the framerate of the camera.
  2. I think the shaft matter a ton if you are swinging correctly. I went from a regular flex to an xflex about a month ago after hitting on a track man and a range with a regular then an X. I had a pretty wicked slice prior to the switch (and problems with the ball soaring) but the high speed video showed nothing in my swing that should have caused it (besides my club being bent so far that I am suprised it wasnt broken lol). My grip was perfect, my body, arms, and hands were all in proper position and I was still slicing the hell out of it. Since I swapped drivers, my slices have gone from about 75% of my swings to about 5%. Huge difference. Another thing that could have a huge impact on it is how you are gripping the club, and also your grip strength. The harder you swing, the stronger your forearms and hands need to be to control the club. I don't mean you need to put a death grip on the club either. If your swinging it 110mph, but your hands only have a grip strength of like 45lbs of pressure, your gonna slice like a MF.
  3. I don't remember every single club I hit, and I can't remember what all the models were but here is the short list: Mizuno: MP62, MP57, MP67, and MP32 Titliest: ZB, ZM, 775, and some cavity back A few other I hit was some crappy looking callaway, looked really bland, was almost like a split cavity, I think it was called x something. Hit a Ping, no idea what it was but I hated it. Hit 3 different Cobra's but nothing good enough to remember. The Mizunos were ok, 2 of the felt good, I didn't really like the other two. The two that felt good were probably 2nd and third on my list. I hated the Titliest, don't really know what it was, but the clubs just never felt good in my hands. I couldnt hit a decent shot because I didnt like how they felt. I had hit the Nike's before on a few occasions and really liked them. I had been reading about them since they came out. I really hadnt considered buying new irons until recently when I started hating my old irons and needed a change. I am admittedly a Nike honk, but I tried not to let that factor in my decision making. I did all of my testing with a 5, because that is the club i like to hit the most (idk why i just like it). The Nikes and the two Mizunos were similiar feel and such, but I was hitting a good 10-15 yards further with the Nike's. The biggest factor I think with the Nike's that got me to buy them over the Mizuno is the fact that I would have to have little to no adjustments done on the clubs so they fit me. On the Mizuno's I would have had to have several things adjusted included the shafts. I don't like the idea of buying a club then having to have it adjusted, and not knowing exactly how it will fill before you pay for it. I did immediately change the grips on the Nike's, I can't stand those velvet cord grips, if your hands are damp at all (and playing in houston's humidity they are non stop), the club slips and slides like you have grease on them.
  4. ABSOEFFINGLUTELY. The driver is awesome (I dont have the square one btw). I swing around 118 so I went with the xflex. I had a problem with really hitting the ball a mile high off the tee, and this thing gives me a great trajectory with great ball RPM (2400ish). It sounds a little funny, but man the ball just goes when you hit it flush. The 3W is great too, I am still getting used to it as its a little smaller than the T60 Ignite 3W I had before, but man this thing gets the ball in the air fast and it goes on forever. If your driver swing speed is 110+ and you hit this club flush, the ball is going 250 all day long. Its sick off the tee, a strong fairwar club as well. I really wish I had more chances to hit the club but the courses I usually play at done really give me a chance. I really loved my T60, but I could not hit it near as far and it wasn't as easy to get the ball in the air as this club is. If I had to choose between the two, and I could only have one, I'd take the 3W over the driver all day. Go hit one, its a great club.
  5. After about 6 hours of trying out different irons over the last two days, I ended up buying the Nike Victory Blades. Now my back has a little bit of a twinge in it so it will be a few days before I get to play with them.
  6. I saw one today at golf galaxy, I just though it was another chipper, but just googled it and it has some pretty good reviews. Looks interesting.
  7. I don't really have a problem relaxing, but having a good cigar with me helps. I think my biggest problem is if I hit a bad shot, I keep thinking about it and worry about messing up the next shot. This usually spirals into hitting 3-4 bad shots in a row. These are the times I like the course to be a bit crowded so I can clear my head. I think I play best when I try to stay as focused as possible, which is hard when you are playing with friends. When I focus the entire round, especially around and on the greens, I usually have no problems with being relaxed, because I am playing a lot better. Its hard to stay focused when people want to talk or when others don't take it as seriously.
  8. I loooooooooooove my 60. If you learn to hit it well, it is well worth it.
  9. I used to think it was good that my wife to be played golf, but after I played a few rounds with her, I really started thinking otherwise.
  10. I'd like to think that most of my swing is from my core/torso rather than my arms, otherwise I don't think I would be able to generate the speed I do with my size. I definitely don't swing as hard with an iron, I just don't get how I can hit my driver and wedges so well and not my irons (except the 5). Aren't wedges pretty similar to blades? I have 52 and 60 degree wedges that I absolutely love to hit and hit well, especially the 60 within 100 yards.

  12. Is it possible for a person to not be able to hit cavity back irons well, but be able to hit blades much better? I have heard for the longest time that only mid to low handicappers should use blades so I stayed away from them, but after today I am starting to think that maybe blades would help me more than cavity backs. I recently got serious about golf and started taking lessons (about 3 months ago), and the first thing I did was get on a Trackman system and hit my driver. My average swing speed is 118 out of 20 swings. I ended up switching drivers (to a 9 degree with x flex shaft) and have been working on making my grip strength stronger (its up to about 60 lbs and I was told for my speed it needs to be closer to 70, it was at 50). This one change alone has killed the slice I had for years, and has me hitting about 75% of fairways with my driver, and my distance is unreal. I know my swing is consistent and is pretty decent fundamentally. I am 6'0 and 155 lbs, but can absolutely kill the ball with my driver and do it on 95% of my swings. I have a great deal of power for my size IMO. Anyways, I can't hit my ignite irons consistently to save my life, besides my five iron, which i never hit a bad shot with. Today after playing and a 2 hour post round range session, i decided I was going to hit some new irons. I grabbed the new Nike Victory blades and hit 10 shots with each the 4 6 and 9 iron, and hit what felt like probably the best 25 iron shots I have hit in some time. It was close to closing time so I didn't have anyone helping me or running my shots on a trackman or anything, so it was difficult to gauge if I was actually hitting the ball well, but almost every shot felt great and the ball was coming off straight. Is it actually plausible that I just can't hit a cavity back worth crap consistently because of the design? I am really interested in trying out some blades, looks like golfclubdemo.com has closed or I would rent some to test. Has anyone ever heard of this being possible in the past? I think if I could hit my irons more consistently, that with my driving/short game, I would break 80 easily. PS. I am at the range probably 5 days a week and on average hit around 300 balls a trip.
  13. Tiger Woods would be up there for sure. There are a few soccer players that would definitely be up there. I think another big name would be Yao Ming. A billion plus in China, plus basketball has basically become a global game in the last 10 years, largely due to him and other foreign players.
