  2. Broke 80. The badge will encourage me further to go for the par badge because i haven't broken par yet and that'll be a massive achievement for me. (As an aside, in Australia we have a thing called mi stats integrated with the national handicapping system GolfLink that integrates scores on a round and gives you an average, quite handy for stats). 3. Haven't seen this thread until now so Ill just give it a dry run for March @iacas so I get in to the habit of posting here. Today after work I hit approx 50 balls w/ driver on the range practicing the swing plane drill pushing the ball with my path inside to out shown on my swing thread. My short game (getting up and down, scrambling) needs work so hopefully tomorrow I'll get some pitches in because I need to practice distance control. Club's greens are being cored though so I'll see how i go, if not, practice putting on the practice green.
  4. Here are two vids of the drill @iacas. As I do this drill I feel like my swing is getting more 'handsy and armsy. Is this a good thing? By the way that one instruction about keeping my head back has worked wonders. Hitting it so much more solidly/ much better feedback and getting it a lot more higher and straighter.
  5. Thanks - I'll upload some videos of me doing the drill tomorrow to make sure I'm doing it correctly.
  6. Thanks very much for your time @iacas , I really appreciate that. In practice I've been aiming to get the clubhead on the right plane behind the ball by trying to get my right elbow in toward my hip but I didn't realise my head was moving so far forward. Coming across seems so hard to change, I've been swinging it that way for years :( now I know about my head it helps. Should I worry about ball flight with this drill? I gather the ideal would be the ball drawing back to the target line.
  7. @iacas I hope this is better, feel free to tell me if it's not. @iacas
  8. In hindsight yes it's pretty bad. I'll buy a stand and make some good ones. Cheers for being honest!
  9. Cropped.
  10. Thoughts @iacas?
  11. Just can't help myself :P
  12. You're right, but more of an omission rather than an intentional act like practicing I hope (to think I play golf to get away from my law job, sigh)
  13. Both good points, and now I mention it I have a very vague feeling of doing it when I was a junior. Though very embarrassing for you and annoying for the person who's ball you've played - if anything it probably advantages them, as naturally you're more inclined to place it favourably. Consistency with other rules like the practice rule is important, though that rule is targeted toward more overt behaviour, but I can see the need for parity.
  14. Does anyone else find it slightly excessive that the penalty under rule 15:3 for playing a wrong ball is two strokes? (now also in a hazard circa 2008) I mean I don't think I've ever done it, and there's absolutely no excuse as rule 12.2 provides you can lift your ball for the purposes of identifying it. I understand the advantage gained should not be greater than the penalty - perhaps you could theorise a possibility where one has gained a two stroke advantage by the testing bite of the greens out of the rough with someone else's ball. Thoughts? http://www.randa.org/Rules-of-Golf/MainRules/15-Substituted-Ball-Wrong-Ball/SubRules/3-Wrong-Ball
  15. Hi @iacas, thanks for taking an interest. Here are a current set of front on and down the line vids as of today. I'm still trying to weed out that "over the top" action at the top of my backswing I rotate my trunk but my hands and arms rotate with it resulting in coming across the ball rather than my hips rotating a few miliseconds before my arms and hands start moving as is what should happen. I'm also trying to move forward less on impact - usually I have a low ball flight off the tee. Any advice will be appreciated - I've started playing a lot more and my handicap is now 7.5 rather than the 9.7 I had when I joined up to the forum.
  16. Hey guys, I've followed what @iacas has given me about watching my shoulder plane and feeling like I'm tipping water out of my left shoulder, and it's made me stand over the ball more and get me into a much better position at impact. Ball flight is now much higher and straighter. I've also attached two images, one from today (red shirt) and the other day before feedback (white shirt) and you can see my right shoulder, arm and especially elbow is in a better position at impact, in and hugging my body rather than flopping around a few inches from my torso. This has enabled the clubhead to get into a better slot, and though I haven't measured it, clubhead speed feels to have increased. My backswing and wrists are also freed up a bit more. I will play on Wednesday and let you know how I go. Any other feedback will be appreciated, or even if you think I've mis-analysed my comparison feel free to let me know.
  17. This thread reminds me of an article I liked a while back (had to scroll back my facebook feed to find it) http://www.golflink.com.au/news/in-depth/2016/11/aussie-golfer-shane-lowry-touches-a-nerve.aspx (Includes video worth watching) Interesting comments : Lamenting the seeming obsession of many golfers in developing the perfect swing, Lowry had some old school advice for players of all levels. “You've got guys like Adam Scott and Louis Oosthuizen and Rory McIlroy who swing the club absolutely perfectly,” he said. “But we're all out here and we all can beat each other and we can get around in a lower score than them even though we don't swing it as good as them, and that's what the game of golf is about. “We didn't learn how to swing the club, we learned how to play golf. I think that's what golf's all about, it's playing the game and not swinging the club. “I think we need to teach that to kids, to let them out on the golf course rather than out on the driving range.
  18. Thanks very much @iacas I'll try what you suggested on the range tomorrow :) Merry Christmas.
  19. What do you think @iacas? Or should I get some better angles first? Thanks heaps B

  21. Will let it roll next time. So I need to work on earlier transfer? I feel like I'm having a hard time with timing and getting the club in the right 'slot' for impact. Thanks for your comment!
  22. Thanks RandallT. Yes hopefully it'll be a nice summer, it's usually a bit four seasons in one day down here but we usually have a good stretch
  23. Thanks all for replying, here's one today after work. Apologies for the angle, was using bag as stand for phone. I'll need to get a proper camera and stand. Cheers
  24. I've been Playing Golf for: 10 years, had a break for a while just getting back into it. My current handicap index or average score is: 9.8 (Golfink Australia number 7624501624 if you'd like to see my scores online). Best handicap is 7. My typical ball flight is: With driver, low left pull or fade/slice/ block. Irons slight fade. The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: low ball flight, and coming left across the ball causing pull or slice. Hi all, first time post, just discovered this forum today and my first forum too! Thanks all for having a look. Apologies for only the one angle, if you'd really like another to effectively analyse my swing plane please say so. I posted with driver, because my irons aren't too bad for now, but when it comes to teeing off I'm either hitting a really low left pull/hook, or slice. This often filters down to my woods. For some reason I've always hit the ball unusually low with driver and with a number of different brands and lofts of driver (so I know it's not the stick) and it's getting to me now and limiting my progress and enjoyment of the game of golf. My takeaway is very flat and comes from lessons I had to cure a slice about 2 years ago. Thanks very much for commenting, I really appreciate you taking the time of day and will reciprocate in kind!
