  1. Welcome from Wisconsin. Lots of great advice and helpful tips here. I'm new here to just a few weeks and everyone here has been awesome. So welcome and look forward to seeing your swing vid. Welcome again
  2. Yep this one did wonder if they'd share that or if I can leave my info for him. ? Thanks for the idea I'll give that a shot
  3. Amen to that. I'll be playing same course next week do I hope I have another good round and make a new friend. It is still amazing to me how this game can be super competitive and at the same time not at all and just enjoyable all depends on your mood or frame of mind. Love the fact that each round is wholly new and equally as exciting and frustrating and each hole, each shot is a new beginning
  4. I agree I wish I had my wife asked me the same question I shrugged I hope to run into him and do just that. And will from know on. Think I'll get some golf buddy cards with info on it to pass out to folks I play with. Ohh new business idea golf buddy cards. Humm humm? Lol
  5. I played at Tanglewood Greens yesterday in Menomonie, WI. Beautiful 18 par 72 course. My 1st time playing anything other than a par 3. I arrived to play solo and there was a gentleman also a solo so he asked if I wanted to play together and after explaining my new golf status we headed out. I had a fantastic time. Rob could not have been nicer or more helpful. I just bought a Ben Hogan CFT 3 hybrid on eBay and low and behold Rob had the same club. He offered for me to use it several times. His biggest tip of the day was about my tee height. I was setting it to low for my oversized head driver, loaned me a tall tee and Shazam huge difference. I did a 51 on the front 9 but I had such a good time the score was good and I've lots of room to improve. Uou can meet some of the kindest nices people at a golf club and new or season vet all enjoy and are here for fellowship and love of the game. So newbies get out mingle, don't pay a lot of attention to the scores and just have fun. I hope I run into Rob again. I'll go 18 next time.
  6. Ok so I played tanglewood greens today par 72. I played the 1st nine. A very nice golfer offered to play with me I explained my newness and never having played anything but a par 3. He waved me off and told me it'll be just fine. I had the time of my life. I played well 51 on the 9. He was supportive and encouraging he offered tips and even let me try his hybrid 3 on a few shots as it was funny I just bought a Ben hogan cft hybrid and he had the exact club. Hope all golfers are that nice. Biggest tip for the day. Was my tees were to short for my oversized driver. He lent me a long one and it was night and day who would have thunk tee height would made make that much difference. I'll tell you even though that course is much longer and harderr now. I'm sold on it bye bye par 3 for now.
  7. Yes the game is supposed to be relaxing(ha ha) and Fun give us exercise and well lets be honest it is really a gentleman's game of Fetch we hit it and chase it and I chase and chase..lol but that being said its something that I look forward to all week and in my mind I play the shots, think of all the new things I'll try to alter my swing and yes the occasional delusions of grandeur of playing the perfect round and maybe finally being able to great little dance move I'll do when I make that sweet putt or drop it next to the cup with my drive. Either way it is a frustrating yet magical game.
  8. Ok and thanks. I saw it asked for it on here and thought I I should know it. And what exactly is a handicap and does it change for each course?
  9. Ok. So been at this for a month I played the same course its a par 3 29. I looked for the slope and course rating. I float between 42&47 for a score each week. Do par 3's even have slope and course rating. Do I need to know my handicap?
  10. I can sympathize with you. I can go to the range drive them hard straight and long. Played to day slice after slice and luck to get 125 for distance. Then next hole boom 200 and straight. I'm a bigger guy and am thinking my range of motion is lacking and muscles might be tight and that affects your swing. So might try good stretching and also just strength training. I play alone and have the luxury of breaking when I want. I think you got the basics to build on and you'll even out. One day it's all just gonna click!! Good luck and keep swinging
  11. Thanks I'm playing pinewood right now and have been wanting to play tanglewood here in town but not at that lvl yet still to many dunks and triples to venture off this par 3 but soon I hope. Thanks for the info.
  12. Yes I have family across the river. Sad but true. Still very loyal green and gold area. Truth be told I am a transplant from TX go Houston
  13. Hi to all I'm in menomonie, wi. Just started playing about a month ago. In my bag I have a set full of ping eye 2 blue dots a tour edge bazooka ql driver a chipper not sure who's and a Luanne putter. Using Nike juice + balls and seems like I have a slice to the right. I usually play my local par 3 29 course. I hope to move up to the big par 70 18 hole course. Tanglewood greens. I don't know the slope or farting of my local course so I don't know my handicap not sure if par 3's qualify for a handicap. Right now I shot between 44-47. Hope it drops soon. FYI. tomorrow will be first time I'll try the driver. Hope it knocks down the longer tee shots. Any thoughts or tips or anything please let me know.
