I would like to go on the record and say that I have had my Method 001 putter for a few months now!! I am prepared to site this forum to all those on the course that will now be telling me that I jumped on the bandwagon...LOL. The putter is awesome in my opinion and I would like to think that there is at least some percentage of Tiger's decision to go with the Method is associated with the great performance of the putter.

I have picked up a bad habit with my iron play the last few rounds. I am struggling with what I think is my lag and I am sure many other things, but either way I am scooping the ball from time to time. Even sometimes the club is on the way up prior to contact with the ball (clearly my center has moved at this point, right??). For example, one hole I will make crisp contact with a wedge that results in a high trajectory and soft landing, but the next hole I will basically blade the same club and hit it over the green. FRUSTRATING! I reviewed my swing and feel that I am centered with my head still, trying to incorporate some S&T; fundamentals, but I have been losing my ball striking consistency lately. What are some suggestions to get me back on track? Are there some basic swing thoughts at setup and takeaway that will help??

Can the fellow golfers familiar with swing video recommend a camcorder? Is 60 FPS sufficient? If so, there is a Kodak HD portable (someone above mentioned it as well) for a good price. Maybe someone can post a video on this thread with 60 FPS and higher for us interested in making the investment. Thanks.

Blade Vs. mallet, putter size, shaft style, etc???
JBellanca replied to jbbets's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I agree. This is a great way of narrowing down your choices! -
I am self-taught as well. However, I would be lying if I said I didn't record Golf Fix and don't have hangers, inner tubes, a tee sticking out of the butt end of the grip, shoe boxes, etc being used as instructional devices.

Do you think that the Nike One Tour recently dropped thier price to $29.99 because it got the Silver award by Golf Digest? Great oppurtunity for anyone wanting a 4-pc ball for a reasonable price compared to the others!

Got a "tweet" from Nike Golf about these yesterday. They looked like a nice wedge from the picture they posted. I did some research on them last night and came across an OVEN episode about the V-Rev grooves. Has anyone seen these? What are your thoughts? They are expected to be in the stores on June 1 according to Nike.

If you have a smartphone with GPS...I suggest to try GolfLogix. They offer a 24hr free trail. It is a $35 annual fee if you decide to go with it, but I have yet to find a flaw. I especially like the aerial views that allow me to determine the distance to any feature on the hole. The round summary is awesome as well...very comprehensive!

I was adding to my queue on Netflix last night and came across Phil Mickelson's Secrets of the Short Game. I threw it to the top of my list and it will be here tomorrow! I have read the book and thought the information was useful, so I am anxious to watch the DVDs. As a result of the book, I now focus on using one wedge around the green with the hinge/hold method. Being so comfortable and creative with one club has helped me become more confident with the short game. I highly recommend the book.

Do you think your bag should match your clubs?
JBellanca replied to Coluejack's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I have a PING Hoover stand bag for when I walk and recently purchased the Nike Tour Cart II bag for the cart. The Nike bag has an awesome layout with a putter tube up front. Both are great bags. My putter is the only club with the same brand name as the bag, but not on purpose. -
This is a great observation. I reviewed this after reading your response and it is clear as day! Thanks. I will work on my hands being more silent on the takeaway.

I was playing around with the SwingReader app on my iPhone. Here was one with an 8 iron. Please let me know your thoughts/suggestions.

I use the Nike Method Series 001 putter. I love the putter. This is my first experience with a milled face...and with grooves. The best tip I received is the forward press!! It has helped my putting tremendously. It is a great technique for tempo and an even better technique to promote forward roll. At address I push the putter shaft forward down line with my trailing forearm, producing a slight negative loft of the putter face. Then I start my back swing while maintaining my arm position. My best putt is my lag putt since switching to the method putter. The ball feel of the face and forward roll it produces makes 3 putting virtually disappear.

I totally agree with Breeds approach on the subject. I like the drill he showed. However, my only concern with the drill is teaching my trailing hand to have too tight of a grip on the club. I tried it last night, but only held the club with my middle and ring fingers so that I wouldn't get in the habit of gripping with my thumb and index finger. A thought that I have used is skipping a rock across the water or throwing side arm in baseball. When you skip a rock, you tend to keep the elbow tight against the body and lay down the forearm. This motion is very similar to the down swing and laying the club on plane. Also, you start high with the "throw" and then whip down into plane...again similar to the transition point of the back swing.

What did you guys think of last nights Golf Fix show? I liked the pre-swing setup tips, especially using the logo on your shirt to line up the ball in your stance...a good reminder. Another good tip i took from the show is using the visual of the shaft intersecting your trailing forearm (when analyzing your swing from behind and down the line) as a identifier that you are in the proper slot.

I picked up the 2010 Nike Tour Cart II bag this weekend. Great bag! I love the 14 full length individual club dividers, especially the stand-alone putter tube. Has anyone picked up a new bag or plan to this year?

I caught a preview of the Tiger Woods 2011 for the Wii on YouTube the other day. They are introducing some awesome advanced features to better simulate the game. They are going to add the swing plane dynamic so it will register outside/in and inside/out swings. Also, they are going to offer a view looking down at the ball at address! Looks really cool. Here is the video that I watched: I have 2010 and enjoy it very much. 2011 seems to take to another level. I am exicted to try it. Does anyone have 2010?

I feel like my local golf shop pulled off a magic trick...found me a Nike Method Series 001 35" LEFTY putter! I picked it up yesterday before my afternoon round. Great tactile and audible feedback! Lives up to the claims by Nike so far. Has anyone else had the oppurtunity to try one? What are your thoughts? I do not have much to compare to being that I am lefty and in-store selection is minimal, but I did have the oppurtunity to try a Ping Redwood and Scotty prior to the Method. I truly felt that the Method gave the best feedback and purest roll out of the 3 putters.

I had the opportunity to test 5 irons last night at my local pro shop. I am a 8 handicap with a club head speed of 93mph on average. I take an aggressive line at the ball so my trajectory is somewhat high. Here are the clubs i tried (limited selection until more come in because I am a lefty). 1. Titleist AP1 (6 iron) 2. Mizuno MX-200 (6 iron) 3. Ping i15 (6 iron) 4. TaylorMade R9 (6 iron) 5. TaylorMade Burner (6 iron) Above is the order I ranked them. They were all pretty consistent on distance, except for the Burner. The gimmick of an additional 15yds. is true given you hit the sweet spot. I was taking the Burner 6 iron up to 220yds. However, it felt very soft and was dramatically inconsistent if I missed the sweet spot. Plus the club head is HUGE. My top 2 are both great clubs. I liked the feel of the Mizuno (even though it is more of a true game improvement iron than the AP1) so much that I want to try the MP-52 before I make a decision on the AP1 irons. I really like the thin top line and sole of the AP1 while offering forgiveness. My question to you guys is can you offer other suggestions on irons that you feel would be comparable to the AP1 and MP-52? Thanks, John

This was at the 15th hole at the Palm Beach Gardens Municipal course last night. Par 3, approx. 165yds to the pin. The wind was a little right to left with the pin in the back center of the green. I decided to setup right center on the green and hopefully let the wind fade (I'm lefty) the ball back to the pin. I stepped on an 8 iron and stuck it within 2ft from the pin. The ball mark from where it landed is just above the ball. One of those shots that just work out as planned. The biggest thing I have learned in the last 2 years outside of the mechanics is to always plan and visualize the shot. For anyone who is looking to improve, always visualize your shots. You will be surprised how this improves your game.

WOW...Lefty has 6ft for eagle and a tie for the lead!!!!! This is crazy!!!!

gotta love the live feed while at the office. GO LEFTY!!!!

I think your best bet is to assess your grip. The most likely cause for the callus is the rubbing of the grip on your palm. This not only causes discomfort, but more importantly affects your golf game. Movement of the club in your grip will most likely cause you to lose your club head position in the swing at some point. This would result in your club head to be out of postion through the point of impact. You will be surprised how you game (and hand comfort) will improve with a sound grip. A good way to determine if you have club movement in your grip is to look at your glove (if you wear one). The club will leave sweeping wear marks on the glove. - John

Hi everyone. I am in for some Tiger Woods 2010 on the Wii if anyone is interested. I got my copy yesterday and will setup the EA account tonight. The guy who suggested the tournament...I think that is a great idea. That would be fun. Let me know. Thanks, John

Hello everyone! I live in West Palm Beach, FL. I fell across this site searching the internet for some helpful tips. I look forward to browsing the posts to help my game and meeting fellow golfers. I have been playing golf sparingly for 9 years, but recently took a significant interest and decided to make it my primary outdoor activity. I have always been associated with competitive sports (baseball, track, lacrosse), so I am hoping I can one day compete at some level in golf. I am currently a 10 handicap and am always looking to learn and improve. I just picked up my newest "practice" device...Tiger 2010 for the Wii. Awesome game if anyone is curious! Anyway, I look forward to being involved in this forum. I hope I can learn some things, as well as offer some advice. Good luck to all on the links! Best regards, John
