  1. The one that paid me best...Yes I'm a sellout, but luckily I'm a 25 capper, I'm pretty sure I won't have to worry about it...
  2. I've been "away" from the game for a while, needed a refresh on my clubs which everything was 10-12 years old, so have started with some GI Irons, a couple new wedges, Driver/3W, Putter, etc. (some of this stuff I've been picking up some used, some new, and some Ebay stuff). You can see what I've replaced so far in my signature... the old Irons were Cleveland TA4's (3I-SW), Callaway Steelhead Plus D/3W/5W and old Odyssey Rossie II putter and some no-name cheapy Wedges that I rarely used. My new Iron set is only 4-W, so I have a gap there with no 3I, and I don't yet have a 5W for the new bag (I'll probably play my old Steelhead+ 5W until I find something new). So wanted some suggestions if I should get a standard 5W and also think about a Hybrid, or just get a Hybrid that will fill the old 5W/3I gap? You can see that I'm leaning Nike, which good or bad, is what I hit best when I was trying a few out, but I'm not against having multiple brands in my bag. Any suggestions? Thanks SW2
  3. GREAT looking and feeling clubs...mine showed up today...Going to go swing them a little bit now!
  4. I assume it's personal preference but wanted to get feedback on best practices for club placement/management in my new bag. I used to play an old Datrek with round opening and 15 or so individual pockets that was supposed to hold 1 club each... I would invariable get 2 or 3 stuck in each without looking and would have problems getting them out. I got a new set of clubs that came with a Bag, the Nike XTREME Sport II Carry Bag (see stock photo below). The bag is Oval It had 8-way divider system. Any tips on longer clubs (woods, etc) top or bottom... General club Management tips, etc. The bag feels really light compared to my old carry bag and I'm looking forward to trying it out (with the new clubs of course) I'll walk some (mostly 9 holes) and I have a push cart for some rounds and I also drive cart for longer 18's.
  5. Sunflower Seeds...with shells going into a bottle and not all over everywhere...a big pet peeve of mine!
  6. Will do.... Have a busy weekend, but hope to get to the range a couple times and maybe a 9hole on Mon. and 18 on Friday
  7. I'll let you know when mine show up tomorrow... I hit a friend of a friends 7 Iron and it felt really good... I am/was in need of a "Game Improvement" type club, and these felt really nice... I honestly didn't hit a lot of clubs before deciding on these, but I'm also playing a 12 year old set of Clevelands that I bought after hitting only a couple styles back when I bought em new.
  8. I think I'll try a 54/12 and a 58/6 (I think the 10bounce would have been better, but I got a decent deal online on the 6 in Black that I wanted) Nike Victory Red Forged Wedge combo... So I'll have 45* PW, 50* AW, 54* SW and 58* (Nike calls it a "High Sand") If I don't like it, I'll try something different... Wade
  9. Thanks, that did cross my mind... What about Degree/Bounce, 52/54/56/58/60? (I'll have the 45*PW and 50*AW)
  10. Since I'm getting some new Irons with big plans to improve my game, I figure maybe I'll go ahead and get some new Wedges as well...what the heck, it's only money, right? You can't take it with you... So I ordered the Nike Victory Red Iron Set that includes a 45* PW and 50* AW My current Cleveland iron set has a 56* SW that I hit OK and I have a 50* and a 60* nonames that I haven't really played much (I hit the 60 every now and then, but rarely ever the 50*) Anyhow I was thinking a 54 or 55* and 60* if I went with new ones and maybe not carry the new 50* Nike AW... but wasn't really sure if there would be too much gap between 45* PW and new 54-55* Was thinking about trying to find a nicer used set of Cleveland's or Vokeys or something. Thoughts? SW2
  11. I just got sniped on a 60* Lob and SW from the Nike set that matches the Irons I have on order...I'm a high HC guy, so I'm sure this set, while not the best ever would be better than what I have and get me by for a while (and @ less than i'm going to pay for a single Nike Wedge.
  12. Thanks, even for a new guy
  13. I like the first one!
  14. Emailed support already, but has anyone got this to run on Windows 7 64 Bit OS? I'd like to eval, but get an error if I try to enter a new round. Have already tried Win7's 'compatibility' mode (set to XPSp2) with no success.
  15. Much worse when it get yelled when teeling off on a 550 yard par 5...
  16. I used to slice just about everything...now I still find myself every now and then cutting across my body a little bit too much and still get some roll, but the last few times I've been out, other that a few pure mis-hits (more of an issue of not many rounds recently), the ball has been pretty straight and the few I lost were hitting longer than I expected with the club in my hand and going OB or whatever, long and straight.
  17. I miss that nice little course!!! still have a Eagle Run windbreaker around somewhere
  18. Thanks... maybe I'll look for a sleeve... Ex-Nebraska guy...used to play Eagle Run every Saturday morning, Shoreline once a week and a few others in the area...been 10 years but I loved the Golf in Omaha.
  19. I'm a high HC guy...but want to get back into playing more...... I pretty much have never been one to notice much difference with Ball selection...played various Nike, Titleist, and whatever else was found/free. As I try to get back into playing should I consider a better ball to try to help my scoring, or am I going to notice enough difference between a $1/ball vs. a $3/ball? Wade
  20. Thanks, I'll have to try to get down there... The only course I've played 18 at in NorCal is DeLaVeaga in Santa Cruz (and not since they redid most of it), otherwise just 9 holes here in Scotts Valley. I think they have Tee-time deals at Laguna Seca from time to time on the GolfNow.Com email list thing that I just signed up for also. Wade
  21. Hey all.... name is Wade... new member here, very amateur golfer and a little about me. I grew up in Nebraska and didn't pick up golfing until about age 20-21, played quite a bit in Omaha (great golf area) but was always (and still am) a duffer. Shot in the high 90's/low 100's most of the time but had a great time with friends and co-workers. Got married in 1998 and moved out of Nebraska to Southern California. Lived in Riverside for about a year (hated the area), but continued to golf some, but never with much improvement. Then moved to the Santa Cruz Area in Central/Northern Cali. and lived there going on 10 years. The golf outings have become more and more infrequent and virtually non existent over the past few years since having kids (have 4 year old twin girls) except for a 9'er every couple months when I sneak out of work early on Fridays. My most memorable was playing the Kapalua Plantation Course in Maui a couple years ago on vacation (was in the low 100's before hole 17/18 when we had to stop for dark). You can see my current equipment list in my Signature...the Irons/Bag came from Nebraska with me, so 12+ years old and the wood were new when we first moved up here, so 9-10ish years old now. You can also see that I've ordered a new set of irons/bag and a inexpensive used Hybrid to play with (that I've never actually hit one before). So I'm looking forward to some upgrades hopefully. I just know I want to start playing more and I will be setting some goals, first for maybe at least 1 round of 18/mth plus a few 9's tossed in, a certain # of Driving Range visits, etc. If I can meet those then I'd like be able to consistently shoot in the 90's again, but mostly I just want to get out and enjoy some golfing again. One last oddity... I am 100% left handed at every, except golfing... I tried for a while and the grip felt FANTASTIC, I just couldn't make the arms move the way the needed to to hit very well. Thanks Wade
  22. Goal is to play an 18/month and hit the range twice a month. I don't have a score goal yet, but would like to start with consistently shooting 90's.
  23. I voted Tiger, primarily because I'm in his "age bracket" and I never saw Jack in his Prime... although he's still whoop me up and down in his current playing form.. SW2
  24. IT Manager...but happy to still be employed, just trying to do twice the work with 1/2 the staff...
