  1. At my course if you finish 9 you don't get a rain check. Anything less than 9 you get a rain check for all 18 but they sure as hell make you wait it out!!
  2. i'm a novice and while i love the game I've found that usually around hole 14 or 15 I start to lose focus -- 5 hour energy!! the carbs and protein you get from the peanut snacks are probably just as good but i've yet to try that -- but at hole 9 I drink my little shot and I remain focused for all 18.
  3. I stopped hitting my driver because my 3 wood was so consistent. My best recordable distance was 235 because it landed right by the 100 yd marker on a 335 par 4. I'd have to guess I'm consistently around 200 with it.
  4. if he's one of your best friends tell him it bothers you if he cannot take that to heart......you should really consider who is and who isn't your friend worst case scenario he'll take what you told him and use it against you; then you'll really begin to understand just how great of a friend he is if you're not comfortable telling him straight up........start putting some money down on it - loser pays green fees or whatever. then if he keeps it up you'll just have the pleasure to know you're playing for free every week
  5. I am brand new to the sport of golf. I've been playing for about a year off and on but only very recently have started watching and enjoying weekly tournaments, joined a golf forum, hit the driving range 2-3 times a week, generally jumped in feet first to this great sport/hobby. I personally was very surprised to see the way Tiger acted. Not that it bothers me, it was just surprising. So much is said of the game being a "Gentleman's Game" and how important respect is. There are threads about dress code and how it's insulting to play in a t-shirt, but to slam your club into the ground is not? I've also noticed Tiger is the only one that I've seen that doesn't hand his club to his caddy, even on good shots he just drops it. I know he's worth more than I'll ever see and if his caddy is ok with it, who am I to care......but I noticed that noone else does it on a regular basis. I find his behavior to be elitist. They made such a big deal about how children were admitted free into Tiger's tourney, I think that does give him a little bit of responsibility to those children. I'm not sure if Tiger has always been this way but coming from someone who is just now enjoying this wonderful sport, I have found myself rooting for Phil Mickelson and Anthony Kim. Their play is excellent AND their demeanor is admirable.
  6. first tip - ALWAYS play a guitar that's in tune every time you pick up your guitar check it's tuning. if you're playing out of tune then you're not hearing what you're supposed to be hearing and it will throw you off forever (there are lots of tunings but for the most part acousticly starting out everything's going to be 440) learn all the major and minor chords start with the easy ones - you can play literally hundereds of songs with just G C and D take it slow - work on changing chords by grouping - just like golf it's all about muscle memory - don't go from a G to a D one finger at a time, press down on all 3 strings at one time. for learning easy songs youtube is great - search 'easy acoustic songs' or something like that and there are some really good lessons out there - justin sandercore and guitarjamz are really good guys after you get a majority of the major and minor chords down go to barre chords. main thing is have fun with it - if you can hold a tune work on singing while you play too - it helps if you start right off the bat
  7. i had a horrible slice -- very very bad using a set of short videos i found on youtube helped me - i hit my 3 wood straight as an arrow now - still slice my driver a little bit so i stopped hitting it i don't know how good the video is in general but it did help me search "slice" and "1 of 7" and it will pull up the vids.....hope it helps
