Thought I'd share something with you good folks. And, for all I know it might be silly to you guys, but it meant a lot to me. So anyways... Yesterday I had played a very lousy front 9. In fact I think I should've kept score by how many balls I lost rather than actual strokes. Anyways, at the turn I got my cereal bar, and my water and as I stood eating it I just kept staring at the pin. It was then I entered some sort of a trance. Everything around me just blurred out of focus to the point I thought I could see the nylon fibers in the flag. The only thing my mind was telling me was GOOD BALL, GOOD BALL, GOOD BALL, and I could see an imaginary green arrow arching up and onto the fairway. Like a robot I walked up to the ball...I just kept seeing that green arrow in my head, I didn't thinka bout grip, where my shoulders were facing, the width of my stance, what I wanted for lunch, etc etc. The next thing I know my shoulder is under my chin, my body is uncoiling and I hear WHOOOOOOOSH---CRAAAAAAAAAAAACK. It was almost involuntary! But here is where it gets crazy...I hadn't even stopped to admire my shot, I don't even remember if it was a little cut or a draw, or what, I just saw the first white flash of the first bounce in the fairway...then started imagining my next shot being a high wedge shot left of the pin...once again everthing blurred and that is all I saw. Shot didnt go left of pin, but almost went IN! Knocked it in for birdie (shortish par 4). As I walk to the next whole, it feels like all i can hear is the blood rushing in my ears, and can only see this big PS3 Tigerwoods 10 green arrow magically appearing in real life from the tee as I get closer and closer. Dogleg left, par 5....same as last time. All I could see was my ball doing what I wanted it to do...just walked up to the ball and hit it...the second it landed ...planned my next shot. 14 degree hybrid OVER the water, then two put. Birdie again! For the first time in a long time, I went Birdie, Birdie. It was then I lost my focus and started pumping my first and rejoicing like a fool. Next hole...pushed into woods, went waaaaaaaaaay long due to sudden release of adreanaline. Anyways...I thought I'd share that because it was a darn good feeling to go birdie, birdie. I think I am finally getting my mind right for golf and finally playing it on a mental level, and not just mechanical. It was humbling to think I'd have to play EVERY hole like that to ever be 'good' at this. I love this game so much sometimes!

Worst balls you've played?
threedolphins replied to ApocG10's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
+1 for Intech Ti, or whatever in the world. Found one at the par 3, and it literally felt like I hit a can of soda pop. -
I know the problem, for it is the dreaded SKORT! just kidding, of course. I tried to watch Solheim, but it was like watching the WNBA. I wanna see someone hit bombs over trees just the same as I wanna see someone tomahawk dunk over 3 guys.

el cheapo TM balls
threedolphins replied to threedolphins's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
For sure...too bad you cant find a driver or 3w or something for like 19 bucks, and it ends up being a dream. Oh well, ha ha. Anyways, I notice you game pro v1s, every time I find one, I feel like I've discovered some sort of treasure and refuse to use it. So if you can believe it, I have a pocket in my bag with nothing but v1 and v1x, lol. Maybe one day I'll sell them or give them away to a lucky forum brother or sister. Crazy...yes, but eh, thats just a quirk of mine. -
I bought a pack of 15 dollar TM XD-LDPs at Wally world today bc they were mostly out of anything else, and I gotta tell ya, I liked the way they felt. I thought maybe it'd feel like hitting a rock, since they were so cheap and advertised as 'distance balls,' but the darn things felt good, flew good, and rolled into the little hole good. So, thought I'd just let everyone know my 1st experience with TM balls...pretty darn good. So, when does TM-Adidas give me my check for my endorsement?

oh yeah i should mention ive only owned TM drivers, I dunno bout the paint jobs on others, I assume they will be fine too using this process.
-
If it is just a melted ball cover streak (best way I can describe it) on the crown, and the paint isn't messed up, you can use Breakfree CLP to remove. It shouldn't hurt the paint and clearcoat if you wipe it off right away and then wash with warm soap to get the leftovers off. You can find CLP in the gun aisle at Wal Mart. Great for your guns too.

I'm very fortunate to live 30 mins from the retail location of clubfinders golf ( http://www.clubfinders.com ). You could say the whole place is a used bin! They have a corner of the store with nothing but wedges from almost brand new to beat up. I bought a set of Wilson staff tw5s for less than 50 bucks, and before that got a nice 56* Vokey for only 20 something (I recently had it refinished and regrooved...so I'm gaming it again). I love used gear!

Anyone *not* bag any fairway woods?
threedolphins replied to amcquay's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I used to have a 3w, but couldn't hit it relaibly...so I tried a 14* hybrid, and just started using that instead. So, nope, no fairway woods in my bag. I actually dropped my scores signifiganty when going this route. Hybrids are just plain easier for me to hit. -
I'd say that is mostly how the club reacted to my swing, with my luck compared to others, I bet you hit it 10-20 yrds further. I should've added that my old club was S flex, but had only 55 gram shaft, and of course had the draw bias. It did not feel like a proper S flex, more like between R and S. So I was probably hitting the old driver faster, turning and cooking the ball left... so there was more smash and more rollout. Also more bug bites on my legs from being in the tall left rough. Lemme know what you end up with, love to know that a new big dog found a new home!

Mizuno mx 1000's with Hot metal
threedolphins replied to thegolfnrabbi's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
LOL, even though this stuff hasn't come out yet, how come I instinctively reached for my credit card. Love to see more on this gear. -
Of course, consider my input as coming from a 18-20 handicapper, but I think the r7 ltd (non TP) was the best investment i have made so far. I had a super closed faced r7 460 draw, which helped me combat my slice at first, but once that was ironed out I found myself opening the club face so much that i was looking under the ball (or that is how it felt) at address. Also, the gigantic free willy head started to bug me. So I went to the PGA superstore and hit every club they had. I was sold on the r7 for a few key reasons 1) MWT for the very reasons you have stated 2) pretty nice shaft, Ozik Matrix 3)more neutral club face (maybe 1* closed?). 4)smaller head suits my eye I do not hit it longer than my old driver though. I'm a good 10 yrds short...but its far easier to find fairways, and for me that means a lot as I'm working on getting my scores down. I've been told its a club for better ball strikers, but I think its ridiculously forgiving. Out of the 10 'driver balls' in my range bucket there is always at least a few shots that have come off the inside of the sweet spots (based on ball mark), and those still go relatively straight. The day the r9 came out was the greatest day for new driver investment...since the r7 price dropped to under 200. One caveat though...I havent fooled with the MWT yet...I left everything stock since my shots were straight anyways. SO I dunno how dramatic the change as TM claims.

interesting conversation @ range

I dunno why I never crank the tunes up...I have an iphone after all. I do use really gigantic headphones as the little buds don't fit in my ear right, but maybe they'll help me keep my head stead in my downswing. Thanks for the tip, this is what I'll do. -

I am now curious as to what that quote is. You guys are all right about that guy....and besides...I think my Mx-100s are quite nice anyways. -

I see you are in TX...you just might. (NTGC in Dallas to be exact) LOL. -
Funny story I have...kind of embarassing too. Anyways, the same thing happened to me and my gf, who had only played a par 3 up until that point...it was her first time to play a proper 18 (and only my 3rd), so it scuked that we had to deal with this foursome of fools. We both told them to knock it off at the tee, and they were like 'oh sorry and rolled thier eyes.' Didn't happen again for a while, until the 11th hole, when the ball slammed into the side of the cart and careened right between us. I WAS going to stomp on it, or hit it into the woods...but before I could react, she picked the ball up and threw it into a pond and gave the guy the 1 fingered wave. Too bad she accidently picked MY ball up and not his. LOL. I decided just to continue play with his and not say anything. Oh yeah...they made extra sure to read that green very very carefully while we were at the next tee. So it worked out. Now that I'm a older and a bit mature, I'd just call the clubhouse and get someone out. Ah...youth.

You are so right. I did get the sense that this guy felt he was the 'bomb' bc of his fancy gear (couldn't tell how good he actually was based on his ball striking...I might venture to say I was hitting more pure even). This is why I have used irons, putter, wedge, use recycled/recovered golf balls, and don't have 90 dollar golf shirts. Its so I can use the rest of that money for green fees, buckets, and lessons. Can't help but think those guys you talk about could do the same. -
If you'll recall I was telling folks about how happy I was to buy some used Mizuno MX-100s on a whim that I saw on 3balls, and that something told me to go ahead since the price was right too. Anyhow, it is my latest trip to the range since picking these up, and next thing I see is a guy set up next to my stall and this is how a sudden conversation goes (more or less)... RANDOM GUY: What kind of mizunos are those? ME: mx-100s GUY: oh they looked like 200s, you know mizuno's known for their forgings not thier casting. those are cast, you know? ME: I know...I researched before I purchased, and there is a youtube of A British guy doing a review off a mat. I'm not good enough to tell the difference anyways, and these are very fun to hit with. GUY: Oh, well, I'm just saying its not the first model anyone thinks of when they go shopping for mizunos. ME: Ahhh, okay...still fun to hit with...(confused look on my face) GUY: Just letting you know. ME: Thanks for the advice... (I get more balls out of my tray and wack em at my target and politely ignore guy) Anyways, I'm not saying that this guy is wrong, b/c mx-100s are GIs...so yeah they are indeed entry-level product, so that is what I need. And I am sure that mx-200s, mp-xx feel better too. And yeah, I guess the guy was trying to help me and didn't really know how I came to own them. But still...since when do strangers go up to you at the range to tell you that your equipment is lame to them. I'm trying to be positive and think the guy just didn't want me to be ripped off (thinking I had forged), thus the unsolicited advice. But I sensed a teeeeny bit that maybe he just wanted to down my clubs (he did have what looked to be new blades). Oh well, just wanted to share my story with my forum brothers and sisters. In conclusion...I still love my mx-100s, and they love me back!

I happened to go to http://www.taylormadegolf.com/ just to click around and read about putters, etc, and for the time being they have a pop up page re: what they say are inaccurate claims by Callaway. I watched the video too. Anyways...I just had to ask anyone out there that has auditioned the newest Diablo and Burners recently (using the same golf ball) and what their results were and if their findings are consistent with what the 'Sr Director or Product Creation' says. Gotta love mudslinging advertising. Me personally...I like both TM and Callaway stuff equally!

Arnold Daley? LOL.

I'll have you know I read this and just had to go make one right away. Quite good. Except I didn't have real lemonade...just the minute maid kind. I don't play better or worse when drinking, but in this TX heat I just cant resist a Heiniken (eventhough beer dehydrates you).

Easiest to hit Hybrid for a High Handicapper
threedolphins replied to Knockglock's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I'm going to 2nd this wonderful suggestion. I've hit the Q2, and every other thing Hireko makes too. It is especially easy to get up and going. I don't get this specific model though, but got the Acer XKs w/Cadence True Ace shaft. I went with the later b/c for me it was easier to hit off a tee than with the Q2. Price is good too, plus LH models. -
http://www.hirekogolf.com/hireko/ord...1366/0/0/0/0/0 I saw one at the PGA Tour Superstore and loved the color and all the pockets. I never heard of Calina before, and didn't find anybody on other forums that have used one before, so I thought I'd ask. My first thoughts were that it'd have to at least be decent, since I assume most entry/mid-level mp thrills stand bags are made by only a handful of OEMs, and golf companies just stitch their diff names on em, then mark them up. Then again...I could be way wrong on that. Anyways, thanks so much in advance, appreciate it if anyone has any experience or knows someone that does.

I love that one member of your 4some that will read each and every greens as such. I'm sure ya'll know who I'm talking bout...there is always one.

LOL...I can't help but think of the episode of the Simpsons where Homer is part of some secret society, ha hah.
