I know a head pro who knows Tiger from meeting him years ago. He told me the truth is Tiger is really really cheap. He told a story about how Tiger (loves fastfood) and him they went through an Arby's drivethru and Tiger used a 2-1 coupon on a sandwhich... I personally saw Steve Williams take two bottled waters out of the big coolers they have at almost every hole at the TPC of Boston and then walk outside the ropes to give them to Tiger's wife and Steve's wife or GF...

If I were you, I would take the ferry out to dafuskie island and play the two courses there called "Melrose" and Bloody Point" They were awesome! I also played Hilton Head National, Session and Berkley Hall. -

Yeah, clambake thanks setting me straight, I owe you a round if you ever come to Mass! My flight was delayed and I could only get to Spyglass at around 3:30pm. They wanted to charge me $245.00 to tee off at 4pm and get in 9 holes if I was lucky...wasn't worth it to me. Instead I played Poppy for $42.00 and it took us 2 hours and 45 minutes to play 9 holes...painfull Im playing Harding Park this week since Im in San Fran now. -
Well, I finally played Pebble Beach yesterday after a couple of times of trying to get on. During those trips I was dissapointed when the women in the the pro shop said, " You're welcome to hang around and if someone doesnt show up, you can take their slot..." When people are paying $400+ for a round, they're showing up... I got to course 3 hours earlier to just hang around and soak it all in which I highly recommend. I went to the range, putted and text'd my friends to go on pebblebeach.com so I could wave into the webcam.. My plan all along was to play the tees that the 3some or 2some I would get paired up with decided to play. I was hoping not to play the white tees, but also wasn't sure if I wanted to play the tips, especially since I really wanted to enjoy the round and not have hybrids into every green. Anyway, the group they paired me up with were playing the tips and my caddie told me I could play whichever set of tees I wanted. I decided what the hell, let's do it and played the tips with a course and slope of 73.8/142! All three of the guys in my group either hit their tee shots OB, or were blocked out my a small group of trees on the right. I've played the Old Course at St. Andrews and that was a nerve racking drive, but my knees were knocking! Anyway, I hit one of the best drives I've hit all year down the middle with a small draw. A bunch of people started clapping and yelling out, "Great Drive!" I'll never forget that drive. I ended up shooting an 81 with a 38-43. Some of the holes on the back killed me, like 10 and 11. The 8th hole is a beast! I ended up having birdies on the 2nd, 4th and 7th. I made a sand save for par on 18. I did have some horrible shots when my tempo got really quick on a few shots, but all and all was really happy with my game. I almost had a hole-in-one on #7. I knocked it to a foot. This was by far the greatest course I've ever played in my life and was worth every single penny! Below is a video of my shot on #7 and #18 http://sharing.theflip.com/session/d.../video/5911185 http://sharing.theflip.com/session/d.../video/5911171

There is hope to becoming a 300 yard hitter
Phil-Mick#1 replied to DiverDown's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Today I hit my first 300yd 5 iron!!! Then I watched Tiger hit a 317yard driver and Vjay hit it 290 at the PGA and I thought about all the "long" hitters on this forum...made me Enough, you dont hit it 300yds, you dont carry it 290..blah,blah,blah.. Try getting your handicap below a 25 and then worry about distance...come to the Cape and I will give you 18 shots, yes that's one a shot a hole, and will smoke you and your 300yd drives! Sorry, it's been building up! -

NO WAY, NOW HOW, NO CHANCE... I dont care if you have the "gift" or not, you're not going from a 113 to a 72 in two months. Enough already, this is bull shit!

So I've been out to Pebble Beach twice now... The first time in 1998 and I tried to walk onto Pebble, but after waiting around for a couple hours there were no openings. I ended up playing Spanish Bay, which I thought was great! Second time, same deal, tried getting on Pebble or Spyglass, but ended up playing Spanish Bay again... Soon after my second trip, Pebble came out with the you must stay two nights if you want to get a tee time policy. It was going to cost me over $1,700 just to step on the first tee which put it out of my price range... Now you can just pay $495.00 for your round and there is no more stay and play policy. The NCGA had a special where you could get on Pebble for the month of July for $375.00, but I wont be out there until Aug. 29th... Anyway, I've played the Old Course in St. Andrews and have always wanted to play Pebble. Looking forward to hearing from others who have forked over the cash and played Pebble or those who havent yet, but would!

I think you misunderstood me. I would never ask them to play on MY TEAM in a tournament. I love playing against them... I disagree, a +1 can shoot 80+. I played with a 0.5 cap that shot an 81 last week then came out the next day and shot 69. I shot an 88 as a 4 cap and wanted to break my clubs, and the next day shot 72.

I disagree that this guy is a "hollywood" handicapper or reverse sandbagger. Just dont buy it. I see a lot of guys at my club constantly bashing someone if they dont play to their cap. Most of them are just jealous... My opinion is that the guy was probably tweaking with his swing and probably shot more like 85 than 90, but when you're expecting to see 68...well, you know what they say about "High Expectations.." On the flip side, I know a lot of "reverse" baggers, but this usually happens around the 9-12 cap range because sometimes when one becomes a "single" digit, they feel they have to stay there... I know some 12-14 caps that wont take anything over a double on a par3 even when they can take a 7. I never ask them to play in any money matches because of it. For a +1 to be a reverse bagger, I dont buy it. Ask him to play again and see if he shoots the same. If you play another round or two with him, then you'll know the truth.
