Based on what I read on the S&T; book. First analyze your ball flight pattern. Is it a push (starts right and goes straight), push fade (starts right and fades more the right) or slice (starts from the left and slices to the right past the target)? After you correctly identify your ball flight pattern then you can start to make some adjustments for example with push fade, the club face is open coming too much from the inside and not enough rotation. The Stack and Tilt book explains all of this. Best of luck to you hope this helps.

Got the book and read it and re-read it then re-read the important parts again. Everytime I went through it the more I realize that those times I'm hitting it well I am doing something right out of the book. I have adopted the swing and have been a little more consistent ever since. Still have some bad days and bad holes but this book gives me exactly what I have been looking for since I started playing in '05, something to go back to when things go wrong. Overall I would recomend this book to anybody in all skill levels, you just have to be open minded and be true to yourself and be commited. I also purchased the video but that's probably for another thread

once a week normally, if I succecfully sneak out of work then 2. Any of you guys playing 5-7 days a week getting sore? And how do you deal with it. Assuming you ride the cart, do your shoulders hurt at all?

Not sure if my handicap index disqualifies me but here's my ipinion anyway. I would have done what you did and take of the clubs that I am not comfortable with and eliminate the temptation to go for that 4 iron (more of a liability for my than anything else) when you can choke down on your hybrid or even go with a 5 or 6 iron lay up (normally for my game, a more predictable shot) and pick a full swing wedge to the green then hopefully 1 putt. More often when I stick to a more conservative game, thats when I get better results.

I agree that he ran off everybody in his team that is good, all he thinks about is himself, does not think about TEAM at all. I think he is a spoiled brat with a huge talent and an even bigger ego. I think that any team he ends up with will have some kind of turmoil because of him wanting everything his way.

Get rid of blow up holes 1 or 2 per round Think and commit to every shot I make. Sometimes when I set up I continue to hit the ball even though it doesnt feel right and almost always end up hitting the worse shot of my round, then try an impossible shot to recover hence blow up holes. Commit to one swing. Seem like every Sunday I try to emulate the player who won the tournament on tv. I just want to stick to what I have right now which currently works and be consistent with it. If I am able to do all of this, then my main goal of scoring in the 80's this year should be accomplished and lower my handicap to about 16 from 18 right now

so I played 9 holes yesterday, and set my goals for every one of them. Did not put preasure on myself I just kept track of where I am in the particular hole and whenever I find myself in a sticky situation tried to play a bogey or worse double bogey hole. My goal for the 9 was a 45 to make it a bogey game scored a 46 but I was really happy to not score any tripple. If I could keep this level of concentration I could break 90 more often this year (which is my goal this year). Thanks for everybody's input..

Which wedges do you use?
cyclistgolfer replied to hypergolf's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Currently using TM TP black 54 degrees 8 degrees bounce. I really like the weight and the black finish. The sound it makes takes getting used to. I used to use Vokey spin milled and could not hit them well, maybe it was not the right club for my swing, I had 54 with 14 bounce and 60 with 4 bounce, extreme ends. Got rid of them both and got the TM, I am now planning to get a TM 60 degrees. -
That's right he is paying his dues now, if he keeps it up before we all know it 9 or ten year old kids starting to play golf will use 2 g's also...

Tournament, no not anytime soon but I am so competitive in my little way that when I have the bragging rights for the whole week within my golfing buddies, it gives me a good feeling. BTW I think that your style fits my mentality a little better, I will further disect it and set my goals on every hole (small victories kind of thinking) and see where it takes me. I am excited again for tomorrow's game.

LBOB, another great point to stay in the moment and not think birdie or even GIR, everytime I play a whole round conservatively, thats when I play my best.

I think that is one of the things I am doing is getting caught up with the score card and obsessing over it. Its just a great feelling to shave a stroke or 2 you know. 89 sounds so much better than 92....
-
Ok, is it just me or are there anybody else out there that seem to always have 1 or 2 holes per round that wrecks the whole card? I picked up the game in May of 2004, and I am absolutely addicted to it. I play and practice whenever I can and now shoot mid to high 90's occasional100's. I am a few strokes away from breaking 90 more often but it seems like every round I play, I would manage to have 1 or 2 blow up holes. Like last 9 holes I played, I scored 3 pars and still manage to score 49. Anyone has any suggestions? My playing buddies always tell me that I just need to manage my game more, but how? I would hit a beautiful drive right down the pipe on a par five maybe 250-270 yards, I would play conservative and get a short iron out and lay up because I still have 200 yards to go, what do I do, shank a pitching wedge and get the ball into the water, before I know it I am scoring an 8 or 9 on this hole. I need some management tips.....help me

I have a set of Titleist 690 cb and I love them, although I have been looking at the 755's lately and the review on this site is making me want it more. used to use Mizuno mx23 nice clubs too. There is nothing like a properly fitted set....sweet when you hit it right

I dont think that there is a perfect swing at all. Many have mentioned multiple winners with a non perfect swing. I am in search of an instructor whom I can follow (read his/her books videos etc.) and a player to emulate and just stick to them, the thing of it is is that every Sunday, the winner's swing looks perfect to me, one day its Phil, next its Zach... But last week it just hit me. I did one thing that felt right and the ball started going straight, shot my best round of the year for this one course that I play at. I actually have an idea where that ball will land. I played with this swing of mine for 2 rounds now and I seem to be able to repeat it (very important). On that note, for me as long as its repeating even though it has a bit of a fade or draw or even straight, as long as I can do it the same way over and over again, then I know where to point the clubs.

Need some new golf shoes, what you all wearing?
cyclistgolfer replied to BigDog's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I am a big fan of Addidas, I think they are true to the concept of shoes being made for walking (primarily). I have had Nike and Footjoys, both great shoes but not for walking in my opinion. Just got my Adiddas Tour 360 from PGA superstore here in Texas normally $179 got it for $89.99(last year's model) -
What I havent heard anybody say in this thread is fitting...correct me if I am wrong but, getting properly fitted is probably one of the most important things you need to do when choosing clubs. To this point, most game improvement irons can not be bent the way a good forged iron can. I purchased a set of Titliest 690 cb about 8 months ago all standard off the rack. My game suffered due to one, from playing at least once a week I dropped my playing time to once every couple of weeks and 2 I did not get the irons fitted to me. BTW I am a 19 handicap who vows to improve and do what ever it takes. 2 weeks ago I had my irons properly fitted to my swing, 5 whopping degrees flatter than when I bought it (try that with a game improvement iron). This week I beat all 3 of my golfing buddies who has been playing for at least a decade before I ever picked up a club. I think that a properly fitted players club will is the way to go

definately the R7 425. First for whatever reason (more confidence at address or something) my drives went dramatically straight, I mean straight, compared to my old driver (R5 Draw bias)which goes either dead right or starts out straight then slices. Then it came with the Hybrid Rescue Dual. What a club!!! This thing saves me on long par 3's and almost always my second shot club. It goes far and straight even on miss hits.

hitting iron on the toes
cyclistgolfer replied to cyclistgolfer's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Thanks for all the comments guys, yes I am right handed. I did get "a" lesson not too long ago and have video online that I can see from time to time with before and after shots. My old swing is kind of weird because it starts with a backswing that is upright and on my downswing starts to flaten first. So I may be doing the same thing I was doing before. -
hitting iron on the toes
cyclistgolfer replied to cyclistgolfer's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Im 5'8 and yup I had my irons fitted, my ball striking improved after a few rounds and getting used to the irons however when I miss hit it always tends to be on the toes. -
I was wondering if anybody can give me any advise on this. I am prone to hitting my irons towards the toe of the club, thus making me a very in consistent with these tools. I have tried to step closer to the ball but it feels too close and I end up completely miss hitting it. One can someone tell me what you think I am doing wrong and two any drills you recomend to fix this.

glad to hear you are enjoying it. Cant wait til I get mine and yes I know that feeling, I feel horrible after my round today.
-
Best of luck with that please let us know how it turns out for you after a few rounds, I am really interested beacuase I am hoping to get mine as soon as I have enough saved up.

Great site guys... I am sort of in the same boat, started a little over a year ago with RAC OS given to me then wanted to try other irons, got the Mizuno MX 23's loved them but getting board with it and wanting to try a "players" club. My local store let me take out both 695 MB's and CB's and also 735 CM's all 6 irons. I have hit the 695's in stores a couple dozen times and everytime they felt great. Big difference out in the range. I hit all 3 clubs together with my trusty Mizuno's and tried to replicate each swing with each club as much as I could. I really saw and understood what everybody is saying about the MB's. I sprayed my shots more with the 695 MB's than the other clubs I had with me. With this little testing, I have concluded that I may not be ready for MB's yet and will try the 695 CB's when I have saved enought for it. To cut the long story short, I think that what feedback you get from an indoor testing facility such as golf galaxy may not translate accurately out on the course. Hope this helps.
