  1. I believe that your putter head will then be too heavy for the length of shaft.. I could be wrong but the weights are different. Say a 35" putter will have a heavier head than a 33" putter will... I thought about doing that but was advised not to... I trust the person that told me, he has been in the club making business at a major retailer for quite some time.. Good luck
  2. none, notta , zilch, nothing, no way, denied access, try again sucker, forgetaboutit, not in this life......you get the point.. allthough I have holed 3 shots from the fairway for eagles... go figure...
  3. We had ours some time ago with 8 and unders in the chanpionship flight. Only 22 players participated, and I carded rounds of 75, 76, and 80. The last round cost me a spot for the interclub championships, but that's how it goes.. finished and unimpressive 6th, but overall happy.. Don't usually deal with the pressure well, and that cost me on the last day.. Club champ had 17 birds in 3 days .... ouch!!!
  4. 3.... Odyssey White Hot 2Ball TaylorMade Rossa Daytona Ping Anser 4 funny they have all found a way into the bag this year.. go figure..
  5. Titleist... TaylorMade would be a very close second, but from top to bottom I'll take tilteist.. Titleist Driver, woods, irons, wedges, putter, ball... no compromises anywhere. I already play the woods, wedges, ball.. looking to change from RAC OS to titleist irons, and possible a scotty cameron model also...
  6. Slice/Fade... Basically caused by an open club face.. I suffer from this 'disease' but have basically learned to play with it in some form. Some on the reasons that cause me to slice/fade have been... 1) left hand at top arching making the club face point downwards instead of parallel with left forearm... I'll try to focus on lighter grip pressure and let the wrists hinge on their own naturally through a good tempoed wide backswing 2) Standing up during the through swing... I do this often. I try to focus on keeping the same spine position at address through follow though.... 3) Open shoulders at impact. They should be square... to help with this I try to keep my back to target as long as posible before I 'go' with my downswing....sometimes I can draw the ball this way, but the nasty 'cousin' shows from time to time ... mr. hook.. I use this as a swing thought during my practice swing in company with 'tempo'... 4) Club face not squaring from open to square to closed in the through swing. I try to.. work on a 'draw'. Although I seldom can get the ball to draw, the thought process helps me to close the clubface swinging from in to out to in... 5) Ball position. If the ball is too close to your body, or too far you'll cut across the face. Your arms should hang down from shoulders, slightly towards the ball. Mirrors are great tools, if you have one give it a shot.. 6) Excess head or body slide. This causes again for you cut accross, as opposed to 'turning' through the ball. The ball is only the halfway point in the downswing. Focus your left eye (right handed) on the rear of the ball at address, when you begin your backswing stay focused there, although the head may move some, Starting the downswing try to maintain the same position, again the head will move some, but no forward, with the shouders bringing your head up on the follow through. Finally, I would suggest to videotape yourself on the range. This has been my saving grace many times...Do you have the same preshot routine? I've picked up many things, as I can't see 'myself' under normal circumstances when I play...I think It's a great feedback on to what you may be doing wrong. Also, check divots.. they can tell you alot also.. if the divots are right to left you are cutting across. This may not affect the higher irons as much, but sometimes my backspin will bring the ball back from left to right which tells me I was across slightly (minus wind factors of course). These things help me a little, as I suffer the fade/slice problem also. Learning to play with what you have can help also. Take half the hole out of play. Use the left edge of the fairway (for righties) a straight shot is in the left rough, a fade is in the fairway, and slice may catch just the right rough. This leaves the ball pplayable from all three areas and gives you a reliable second shot opportunity... If all else fails, try someone you respect or take a lesson with a pro. Explain what your doing and they can help. I believe that trust in your swing and self are important, so do what is necessary, but I always use the word 'trust' when I play.. Best of luck... Fairways and greens....
  7. Videotaped my practice session on sunday, and noticed some things. Fortunately I was hitting it fairly well. I checked for shoulder position at impact and legs, which allowed me to pick up on a straitening right leg as I approached the top of the backswing. I'll keep working with the tilt, until it becomes more 'automatic', although I'm finding it great for irons on par 3's, just with some mixed results from the fairways/rough. As always I'll keep working, the lower I go, the harder I need to work...lol Thanks again....
  8. The Wrath of Mother Nature...... Towards the end of the golf course, Dave hit his ball into the woods and found it in a patch of pretty yellow buttercups. Trying to get his ball back in play, he ended up thrashing just about every buttercup in the patch. All of a sudden.....POOF!! In a flash and puff of smoke, a little old woman appeared. She said, "I'm Mother Nature! Do you know how long it took me to make those buttercups? Just for doing what you have done, you won't have any butter for your popcorn for the rest of your life: better still, you won't have any butter for your toast for the rest of your life.....As a matter of fact, you'll never have any butter for anything the rest of your life!!!!! Then POOF!......she was gone! After Dave recovered from the shock, he hollered for his friend, "Fred, where are you?" Fred yells back "I'm over here in the pu**ywillows .." Dave shouts back, "DON'T SWING, Fred; FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DON"T SWING"
  9. A nun is sitting with her Mother Superior chatting. "I used some horrible language this week and feel absolutely terrible about it." "When did you use this awful language?" asks the elder. "Well, I was golfing and hit an incredible drive that looked like it was going to go over 280 yards, but it struck a phone line that is hanging over the fairway and fell straight down to the ground after going only about 100 yards." Is that when you swore?" "No, Mother," says the nun. "After that, a squirrel ran out of the bushes and grabbed my ball in its mouth and began to run away." "Is THAT when you swore?" asks the Mother Superior again. "Well, no." says the nun. "You see, as the squirrel was running, an eagle came down out of the sky, grabbed the squirrel in his talons and began to fly away!" "Is THAT when you swore?" asks the amazed elder nun. "No, not yet. As the eagle carried the squirrel away in its claws, it flew near the green and the squirrel dropped my ball." "Did you swear THEN?" asked Mother Superior, becoming impatient. "No, because the ball fell on a big rock, bounced over the sand trap, rolled onto the green, and stopped about six inches from the hole." The two nuns were silent for a moment. Then Mother Superior sighed and asked, "You missed the damn putt, didn't you?
  10. When not in tournaments and such, I like the NXT's or NXT tour's... The Calaways are fine, I've never had a problem with the inexpensive warbirds..The maxfli's are ok too, haven't played them much, but when I have, they have held up for the round...
  11. Hey; I understand your plight.... I've been really frustrated the last few weeks, but I stayed the course, kept trying, took a day off, kept trying, took another day off, got hungry again and fired 78, 75, and 74 this weekend, my best three consecutive rounds in three weeks. Sometimes the harder we try, the worse it gets.... When I really stuggle, I go back to the basics...grip, posture, stance, ball position, and swing from 9 to 9 only... helps to get in a groove... the 78 I only had 3/4 swings all day, just had to take an extra club everywhere...Give it a shot..maybe it will work for you... Best of luck..

    Fake scores

Interesting chart, although my 75 equals my cap on my course...just funny that my best round in the last three weeks are two 75's both in tournaments...(we won't mention the 76, 80, 81, 88 though...lol 3 of my last 6 tournament round are ok, the other 3 uck!!!) Wish you could even things out with guys like that... you wanna play a friendly game with a small wager to make it interesting, then play straight up i say... when we play tournaments, the handicapping in for flighting only..I have to say it this way... would you rather finish 50th in a PGA tour event, or make the top 25 on the Nationwide? No disrespect, the guys on the Nationwide are amazing golfer's in their own right, but I'd want to test my skills week in and week out with the big boys... just my thought...
  13. Thanks, my pro recommended hitting with the feet together for temp, so I'll try that. It's strange that it dosen't feel right because it's something that you don't do, so sometimes you fight it out of comfort. Working with swingpath and checking divots... The hip activation stuff is great for distance, but after a couple times on the range and trying on the course I'll try to 'fix' what I'm confortable with.. Thanks again.... Fairways and greens..

    Fake scores

Just to further from the last post on this topic....been playing awful lately and the RCGA handicap index indicates that I'm a 5.... well playing with these so called '12's' they shot like 76/77 and I shot an 81.. got killed fortunately no money was crossing hands... I play against them in a tourney today, I shoot 75 and they still shoot the 76/77.... That's a load of crap...guess I need to inflate my scores....I mean I can shoot 72 or 82, and if it isn't my course I can shoot 85... I mean what gives.. Last I heard you only shoot your handicap roughly 25% of the time. What are the odds of a '12' shooting 76 twice from the tips in the same week. I have to make 2 or 3 birds and keep the ball in play to shoot well, which I can, but a '12' should be shooting in the 80's consistently, not 4 over par. That would be like me shooting 68 which I've only done once in my life....whew, glad that's off my chest...
  15. 37-38 - 75. Interesting day, 4 birdies, but 8 bogeys, 2 missed short putts, 1 my fault the other not (pebble in path, jumped left instantly)..Mark and clean everything boys...Overall best round in three weeks....
  16. Hey; From my understanding, the long irons 2/3 hybrids and woods are all more of a sweeping motion due to the placement of the ball in your stance. The ball is placed ahead of the bottom of the swing's arc, while the mid to high irons are all stuck down on before the bottom of the arc, hence the divot after the ball. I may be wrong, but this is what I'm led to believe..... Best of luck....
  17. Driver on par 5 540 yard hole, hit it 260 into the wind, set up reachable second shot... ( unfortunately then hit a weak cut, then a PW 30 yards past the center, 60 wedge to front red pin location, then 10 footer for par).. Easy as pie.... gotta be the strangest par for me of the year 2 good shots, 3 bad, still get par...go figure....

    Fake scores

I can add to this post for sure... I play by myself often, or with a few different guys from our club. I play well there, and in the club championships finished 7th, but when I get into competiton, things change, I don't relax, feel tension, and even when things are fine (amateur qualifying I was even after 9 holes), this inevietably end up bad. So people can say how does a 6 handicap shoot an 85... I say easy when you play like a 15!!!! Fairways and greens fellas!
  19. Well today was abyssmal... 81 with a triple and double, only 1 bird... struck the ball fine, wind was 30 km's all in all ok considering that I have been having problems lately....
  20. So who do you like to watch in a tournament, and what draws you to that player.. Alot of us like tiger, but who else... I'm not a fan of Vijay, but admire and respect his work ethic and amazing ability. I'd rather watch Vijay than alot of guys even though he's far from my favorite. I like personable players, Tim Herron, Jason Gore, John Daly, Chris Dimarco, and Jerry Kelly... I can never seem to get enough of Feherty and McCord...god if I could have my foursome I'd add Jacobsen and myself... what a blast that would be... have to bring and extra pair of shorts...
  21. I going to lean towards Tiger. significantly. I like Philly too, as I appreciate ability, but if I had a choice of whom to watch in a tournament, Tiger would be the guy...
  22. I have tried lots of things, and some work. Although I do believe that swing plane is one of the areas I'm going to focus on. Today I was a little more active with my hip turn, and straightened my ball out significantly into the wind. The course I play frequently has 20km or more winds, so anything not hit right is magnified. I found myself more tired at the end of the round, hit it farther and straighter, just didn't score better. Atleast I didn't feel like jumping off a bridge..lol.. Thanks, keep em coming, and I'll keep y'all up to date... Fairways and greens.... Lumpster
  23. Hey all first post from the north... we don't play on ice here..lol Like most golfers I fight with the slice. Here's the dilema. With the irons, I'm okay fade at worst. 3/5 wood are generally fine. Again with most the longest club in the bag (driver), I have a tendancy to slice/pull/fade the ball. Last year I managed to get to a 5 cap, mind you on a fairly moderate course. This year, has gotten worse. I'm the type to tinker and try things when the swing dosen't feel right. The club pro says I just overswing to much, and should focus on trying the 9 to 9 for better contact and accurracy. When I hit my driver well, it's solid about 240 carry with another 30 to 40 roll with a mid range ball flight. I've played with the pro hit just as far, but my ballflight is significantly different. Lately though my driver has betrayed me, and I've posted some real ugly scores in competitions. Here's what I've tried without success: Tee ball up/down: when up contact just feels weak, although distance is acceptable (about 240). When lower and connect properly I get the pop and ball feels as if it jumps off the face..usually 250 or more.. Front foot flared: Tends to open my shoulders and results in a weak hit ball position: when I go opposite left heal, is okay, farther up/slice, and farther back slice???? Shoulder tilt: Club pro suggested this and works to som extent, but after several swings tends to change my regular iron swing and then I have problems with that part. My desire is that I believe that you should swing the same with all clubs, just the distance of the swing changes..ie use of the clock system.. Going to try and video tape swing to get a look at what I'm doing from behind. I've tried from the inside, I'm sure I'm overtop when I try and hit it hard, Ive tried pulling the club through..hmmmm At the top, sometimes my left wrist angles, working on that.. My body type resembles Tim Herron/John Daly/Jason Gore.. and my swing will differ from say a tiger or Luke donald/ernie els type.. Not afraid to try things, just not looking for gimmicks.. Thanks
