I really need to start practicing with my 3h and 3 wood. I normally play a shorter 9 hole course that plays around 3000. occasionally i play a 6600 course where there are some long par 4 and 5s. I just need to build up some confidence with my other clubs.

I was thinking this morning about my last couple rounds of golf. I realized I really only have a few clubs that I normally use. There are a few clubs I carry that I have never even used during a round before. It got me curious to see what everyone else uses as there go to clubs during a round. What clubs you go to for certain situations and what clubs sit in your bag and never get pulled. For me obviously it's driver and putter every hole but I mostly use my 6 or 7 and a pitching wedge. I will use my 3 wood on longer holes when I have 200+ left to go to green but I don't have a lot of confidence hitting it. Sometimes I feel better hitting a 4 iron. 120yds or closer I will hit pitching wedge or bumb and run with a 7. I have a 3 hybrid that never gets played, a gap wedge that's never played and my 5, and 8 iron hardly get swung. I was just thinking maybe it would help my game if I used my full bag over the course of a round.

I am an avid chiropractor user. I go once a month and I love it. Since I started going 2 years ago I have never felt better. Life has dangers in everything we do, I wont let the small chance of something happening scare me away.

Thanks for the response, I played same course today and you were right it was a red line with red stakes. There wasn't much water since it has been dry here. I assumed it was GUR since I didn't see water in there and didn't want to mess up the ground there. Thanks for the info should help a lot going forward.

I was thinking about painting my putter, it has some chips in the paint and is currently red. I want to make it black, has anyone attempted to paint a putter before and any tips such as type of paint?

It's my first year playing so I'm not familiar with all the rules. I was playing by myself this morning, I try to follow the rules to the best of my knowledge but as a beginner I don't get to caught up in it. I hit a shot that landed in an area just off the fairway but was roped off with red paint circling it. I picked my ball up and dropped it just out side the rope, in the direction it entered, not towards the green. Do u have to take a penalty stroke for moving the ball or is it a free drop?

My first DIY grip replacement!
Northwoods88 replied to Northwoods88's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Thanks for response here are the steps I took, 1) I ordered a kit off Amazon which included tape, solvent, rubber clamp that fits around shaft to place in vice and a j-blade. The J blade was a huge help, for those not familiar it is a like a razor blade except shaped like a J. The curve prevents you from cutting yourself if you slip while removing old grip. 2) I removed old grips using the j- blade. 3) remove old double sided tape, the first couple clubs I used a utility blade to scrape the tape off. This took some time and left some glue residue. I found if I used the j- blade to score the tape the length of the shaft and then used my fingers to peel it up I could get it off in bigger pieces. This left no residue behind and was easier then scraping. 4) apply double sided tape to shaft leaving a bit of over hang to tuck into hollow end of shaft. 5) add solvent, I started by pouring solvent over the tape and then filling new grip with solvent and shaking. I would then pour the solvent in the grip over the tape and slide grip on shaft. After a couple grips I found I didn't need as much solvent so I skipped pouring some on tape instead just filled grip halfway shake and pour out excess over tape. 6) take shaft out of vice tap end of club on ground to ensure grip is fully seated. I then checked for proper alignment by taking my normal grip and stance and made any adjustment to grip by twisting it since it was still wet and moveable. -
My first DIY grip replacement!

I used tape/solvent. Didn't have and problem with grip sticking. The brand solvent was wedgeguys I believe. Came in a kit I bought on Amazon. Used a lot of solvent the first couple grips, after seeing how easy they were sliding on I switched to just filling the grip halfway shaking it and pouring it over the tape. -
I bought my first set this year off Ebay. They are Adam's cb3, got the set for $189. I would recommend looking at Ebay for a used set, you can find older sets in great shape for a great price.

Just wanted to share my excitement with everyone. I am new to golf this year, bought a used set of Adam's cb3 irons off Ebay earlier this year. I decided I wanted to upgrade the grips so I ordered some Winn dri-tac midsize grips. I figured this would be a easy DIY project for me to complete. I watched a few YouTube videos and completed the job this morning! It was a easy task to complete, grips look great can't wait to test them out. My main reason for sharing this post is if you are a beginner like myself I recommend doing some small projects like replacing grips yourself. I know it isn't a tough task but I feel a little more pride and confidence in my clubs knowing I am the one who did the work. Happy golfing!

Is pace of play (or slow play) a real problem?
Northwoods88 replied to Jakester23's topic in Golf Talk
I only play public courses so I go in knowing I will probably run into other groups as most of my rounds I play alone. I have a couple pet peeves, 1) I catch a group of people, while I am finishing out on the green they tee off drive down the fairway and stand there waving at me hollering to tee off and play through. If you want me to play through wait the extra minute on the tee box while I hit my ball. For some reason it screws with my head when I am teeing off and people are standing 200 yrds in front of me. 2) when I am close to catching a group and they keep looking back at me to see how close I am but continue to start the next hole and race to their tee shots. Once off the tee box they hit multiple balls or search the woods/ tall grass for the 2-3 balls that they already lost while I am standing on the tee box waiting to tee off. I am a newbie and need all the practice I can get so I understand wanting to re take a shot. I do that myself if I don't have anyone coming behind me. If I have a group a hole or two back I play my ball, if I can't find my ball I make one pass looking for it and drop a new one. -
Breaking Bad Club - A Thread for Golfers Trying to Break 100

This is such a funny game, after shooting that 99 yesterday I went out with a buddy to a new course tonight. Feeling confident all day long after playing so well yesterday I couldn't wait to hit the course. That confidence quickly disappeared lol. After the first 9 holes I was shooting 73. I couldn't hit a shot to save my life. The course was probably a little better then I should be playing with my skill set, not to mention 20mph winds with a light mist. I turned things around slightly on the back 9 and ended up with a 126. That's what intrigues me so much about golf, as bad as I was playing there were those 1 or 2 holes where every thing went right and I sank my par putts and I fell back in love with the game. -

This is my first year playing seriously, I played a handful of times a year when I was in high school. Now I am 30 and really enjoy going out once a week. Been shooting 110-115 all year, yesterday I achieved my goal of 99. Don't know if I would consider it a legit 99, I had two drives that were hit out of play. Instead of going back and hitting another tee shot I gave myself a stroke penalty and dropped where it went out. I am still happy with my score and look forward to improving this year.
