...yawn....how long have you an icacas been dating?
-
you're such a tool....editing threads and posts is really lame.....if you don't like me or my posts just say so....but changing my words is lame...flat out lame....
-
so iacas...why the heavy handed thread editing?
-
...anyone else find this interesting? ...I thought it was gamesmanship...but what do you think?
-
...what I do know is that both Tiger and Jack are two of the greatest representatives of the game of golf. For all of us lucky enough to have grown up watching Jack and now Tiger....WOW...does it get any better. In my opinion, both Tiger an Jack are what makes golf the sport that we all love and seperates it from all others. Kudos to both for letting me enjoy and appreciate the game that much more. I really don't think we will ever read that either one has bet on the game, used steroids, or was arrested at 3am in the morning outside a strip club.

...critics.... BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!

....you are a tool....read the thread...I tried to edit it. Also...luckily I included "other". Iacas has deleted one of my posts already...but will not allow me to edit the poll....thanks pal...It's an opinion not an absolute...for all you Arnie fans....have at it. Iacas...if someone debates you try not and delete or edit post that do so...it's really lame....

...why? ...summary of article ...Tiger pushed ratings beyond what they ever were...now you are seeing the decline... ...summary....Tiger has the most impact on the game...thats why people watch or tune out... Love MaD

found these interesting iacas... http://www.usatoday.com/sports/golf/...6-palmer_x.htm http://money.cnn.com/2001/06/15/companies/tiger/ http://www.golftoday.co.uk/news/year...news04/tv.html ...the article with Arnie is a great insight into your argument for Arnie. As for TV, I'll stand by my assertions... ...worldwide impact... http://www.usatoday.com/sports/golf/...8-impact_x.htm

I would strongly disagree with this statement. I would argue that TV ratings, worldwide recognition, and a renewal in golf popularity is directly related to Tiger Woods and his accomplishments.

I tried to edit the poll listings but cannot. Anyone know how? I thought about Arnold, and while I agree that during the late 50's and 60's he was a charasmatic figure, I didn't think he had as much of an impact as Jack did. Maybe his impact was more so during the 80's and 90's with regards to his business dealings.

...damn...I am a booby...sorry Mr. Jones!!!!!
-
...also....who can spell Nicklaus correctly?

Who has had the greatest impact on the game? I’m not talking about whom is the greatest, I’m asking who has or has had the most influence, made the biggest impact, had more to do with how the game is played or viewed? I tried to come up with someone other than Tiger but the only other person that comes to my mind is Booby Jones and his early instructional movies along with the Masters. But given Tigers mass international appeal and his influence on prize money I can’t think of anyone else that has had a bigger impact. Thoughts?

...Anna Kornakova? I know golf is a little different stage than tennis as you are not one on one against an opponet, but doesn't Natalie have to win soon to justify her mass marketed body? She's a great personality, but how far will that go for the sponsors? I see a lot of areas within her swing and putting that need to be overhauled before I think she can win. I also thought Butch Harmon was her coach. Anyway, thoughts, pics, and otherwise all the best to young Natalie.

you can't be serious about rough at Augusta

...heh...well you know what they say about opinions...I mean...well ...you know what I mean. We have tried to offer differing opinions, which you seem to take offense. By the way, the course was being altered as early as 1938. While I like your article, I don't agree with it much the same way I don't agree if global warming is cyclical or man made. Time will tell. Jack and Arnies assessments about the angles afforded by the generous fairways are interesting. Both are members at Augusta. The course has had many alterations that Mr. Jones and Mr. McKenzie probably wouldn’t approve of. We’ll never know their dead. What I don know is that it still a very exciting Masters. I don’t think you will see and over par winner on regular basis. I think the real champions that played on Sunday went for the par 5’s in two, and I think the real champions will win on a course that needs to evolve as it always has. http://www.golfclubatlas.com/augusta000150.html

. ...I'll try not to be rude either. Do think the board members at Augusta National tried to bastardize the course that Mr. Jones is so honored for. Do you think the club that is synonymous with Bobby Jones would do anything intentional to discredit that vision? It may be the most exclusive club in the world. With a membership that may have to swear an allegiance to the ghost of Mr. Jones before drinking his blood preserved for initiation rituals (j/k). While I do think they are not amused by the Steven Ames quote I posted earlier, I think they did what they thought was in the best interest of Augusta National. Parroting what Golf magazine or several sports writers have offered as a problem with Augusta National is easy. Offering solutions to the problem is what a golf course architect was hired to do, not a bunch of internet bloggers. I guess what I find amusing is anyone trying to tell the membership and board at Augusta National what to do with its golf course or club. Love always, M. Burk

I don't think Bobby Jones vision of three wood/ wedge on every par four was part of the Master Plan either. Like almost every "Old Skewl" cousre around the world, changes are being made to defend their honor. While I am no purist of the course at Augusta National or of Mr. Jones, what would you suggest that the membership do to defend the honor of the course that is Augusta National?

there have only been (3) Master with a winning score of even par or worse. The weather had EVERYTHING to do with the over par scores. The powers that be at Augusta National and many golfers would argue the Masters is the most coveted trophy in golf. They had to protect the course. Again, look at the previous 5-6 Masters, the course was being changed but the weather kept it soft. This was the first Masters with the current configuration and hard, dry, and cold conditions. I don't think it is a portend of what the Masters will be in the future.

I doubt he would have cleaned Phils Ball...J/K!!!

Steven Ames ...qoute..."you could see 3 or 4 over win this...and it's only the Masters, not the U.S Open". ....Augusta National ....."only the Masters"....thats why you are seeing the carnage. Also, the weather, the course has been soft for the last 5 or 6 Masters.

I think the powers that be at the Master Club have done exactly what they wanted. I think they cringe at a (-12 ) winning score. I think they wanted a severe test of golf and they got it. I think the back nine charge may be harder to come by, but other than the two you describe, how many back nine charges were there? Isn’t it more of a round of attrition in most Masters? The back nine charge is what made those Masters memorable but I don’t think they are the norm. I think you are right about the comparison to a U.S Open set up, but I think that’s what “they” wanted. Remember why Gary McCord got kicked off the CBS commentating team for…to paraphrase…”the greens are faster than a Jamaican pickpocket”…well they still are but along with it they got length, narrow fairways, and a course that will always be questioned as to “playability”. I think the Club enjoys it, and I think they will continue to set it up as a just barely playable venue. As long as the Golf Club and Ball making companies continue to push the limits of technology, I think Augusta will to.

...I guess thats why there is such a contrast between the two. One has a happy go lucky attitude while the other is all buisness. I've seen Phils petulance first hand, believe me, he had it long before Tiger. I've never seen or heard anything from Tiger that desparaged Phil. I would think their relation ship is only professional, I don't see them swapping stories of imploding on the golf course over beers on the 19th hole....heh....
