...per your aruguement pretaing to the rules you have issues with...I apply this with common sense during friendly golf outings. Meaning that a strict adherance to EVERY rule in the book would not only be amazing, but lessen the experience of an enjoyable round. Arnold Palmer can talk about the purity of golf and it's reverance. When I'm out with friends I take it for what it is, fun. Having said that, when I play a round with my friends that are pro's I have a very different demeanor on the course.

...I gotta tell ya...personally if anybody goes into a bunker and takes a practice swing and addresses the ball or if you ball moves a half of an inch anywhere on the course or if you forget to remark a moved mark on the green ...I could give a rats ass. If you break a rule like saying you had a four when you had a five I may take issue with it...otherwise I have no pretense that I am anything but a hacker out to have a good time. While I don't disregard the rules, I think I and most of us weekend duffers are not Tour Pros.

...uhhh.....have you had these thoughts for very long?
-
...so you're telling me that if your buddy walks into a sand trap and swings his club before he takes a stance you would call him on it?

question to all in this very interesting thread. Do you apply what are basically PGA Tournament rules (i.e signing scorecard) to your everyday hacker golf game? I mean does everyone here apply a strict adherance of the rules (every rule) to his or hers weekend game? I can see this during tournaments and championships, but when it comes to your regular weekely game do you really follow every rule? My point is that I find it interesting agruing about rules that have no real effect on the average golfers game.

is this Phils out? When was the last time he played in a tournament? Right before the Ryder Cup he's says he needs rest? Note to Phil....when it is widely publicized that you spend months practicing on the majors golf courses prior to that major…when you disappear from the radar screen after tanking said majors…please….stop….accept the player that you are….you are NOT Tiger Woods…you will never be Tiger Woods…you are a great player, just not the greatest. Get over yourself and play golf and quit worrying about being the legendary golfer you are not….

...it's gotta be tough when a little girl behaves better than beats you in a round of golf..
-
...rack it!!! ...and honestly with the exception of Webb and Sorenstam...she plays a different game that the other LPGA regulars. I'm not talking about scoring or winning ...I'm talking about the ability to tee it and use the same clubs as PGA pros on the same courses. Thats why we watch....to see a 16 year girl play the same game as the men do. While I enjoy the LPGA...watching a 23 year 4'-4" Korean hit a 3wood 190 yds on a par 3 is not going to impress me.
-
don't forget the rest.. it's gotta suck to be last in a mens tourney when a little girl is ahead of you.... Print this page

I am interested in the new Taylor Made draw driver. I may be by to see you But the Staffs...well...you'll have to pry them from my cold dead finders before I part with them.

every time I go to post, if it is more than say 10-15 seconds I get booted out when I hit "submit post" and have to log in again? Any suggestions?

with regards to emulating Michelle. She has incredible poise. She handles the "circus" very well. Her class and demeanor on the links should be reviewd by several LPGA girls. I won't argure with this. I think she has the potential to fall between that "rock and a hard place". I only wish her well.
-
...becuase she sells tickets and generates TV ratings. As to your statement .. don't think so. I could give a rats ass about "old joe". Michelle Wie is one of the new Young Guns that seems to transend either tour. I will tune in to any event she is entered in. Her poise, class, and game make her an event. I would be more interested in Wie entering a PGA event than say Anika. Why...because she is 16 and swings like a man. I am also the father of a 15 year old girl and find Michelle to be what most fathers of aspiring young athletes would want to emulate.

if you could watch only one tournament all year!
Madriver replied to go_raps_Go's topic in Tour Talk
Masters First tourney of the season, course, and the Jones legacy is the most anticipated Major for me. It kicks off the golf season and gets me motivated to head out and slap the little pill around. -
Given the Michelle Wie hype, lets say that this weekend you can watch the Kemper Open (sans Tiger) or an LPGA event with Michelle Wie, Morgan Pressel, Paula Creamer, and Natalie Gulbus (the LPGA Big 4), which would you watch? I say the new LPGA American big 4 are more interseting "in many ways" to watch than most PGA events. Unless Tiger is in it I would rather watch the LPGA. Also, with all due respect to Anika or any robotic South Korean player, if Michelle Wie is in the event I want to watch it. And the kids are more of a draw than Anika. So which is it, LPGA with the new American kids or a Tigerless PGA?

there is no doubt Michelle has pissed a lot of people off. Her statement on the Ryder Cup seems to push her inocent kid image. As a father of a teenage princess that has had sucsess in athletics, I probably would have quashed that statement. However.....I respect her game, her attitude, and the fact that she may very well be able to do it some day...who knows. If I were her dad I would advise her to "walk the walk" as I do to my budding star. Small time dad

...shes a kid. I have a teenage daughter who is an exceptional athlete. She says and wants to achieve things that ...maybe...just maybe she will accomplish. When you are 16 and don't have a lifetime of dissapointments, cynsism, or reality to quel your enthusiasim, you think that anything is possible. In her case I wouldn't bet against anything she might say or want to do. But pleeeeeeeaazzzze remember she is a kid in school.

I think Fred Funk (a former local here) is playing....Go Fred..
-
I hope you're wrong about this. I am cynical when it comes to Tiger and the Ryder Cup. One can only hope that his mindset will change this year. Trouble is I wouldn't bet against Sergio in a foursome or fourball match either. Shades of Seve past...as Jim Fuyruk and Peter Jacobsen shudder.... also Thrasher why do I always get kicked out of my login when I post?

I would have to beleive Mike Weir is favored given his performance at the PGA
-
...not sure I would argue with him. While I think Wie can match the men with her Driver and Irons, her putting can't hang with the big boys. Sorenstam has the whole package, I just don't think she can match a PGA tourney with say 10 of the top 25 in the field. I don't think there is a women out there that can win on the PGA tour with any sort of a strong field. Qualify yes, win no. Give Wie a couple of years to learn how to putt under Major Championship strain and she might be able to give the field at Quad Cities Open a run for their money.
-
...yeah...yeah...but we have golf courses we can play all year ....neener...neener

heh....can you imagine Morgan Pressel and the rest of the LPGA ladies if she was picked......meeeeeeeeeooooooooowwww!!!!!!!!!!
