Interestingly enough, they were all marked Prov1 x. So I guess it must have been a sorting error. I’ve never cut them open before. The original Prov1 has lumps on the cover so I wasn’t going to play it. You can see them on the outside of where I cut it. The other two I had on my shag bag I did but they weren’t out that long when I had found them. I just watched a video that Rick Shiels had done comparing them to an original. He noticed they were harder feeling too. He actually picked them out on a blind test. I’ve found a few where I’d try to make a fingernail mark and they wouldn’t mark as easily as ab original prov1. But I’ve also noticed the yellow Prov1s seem to do that too. So idk

Yeah it seemed defensive or condescending with the “so what are you trying to accomplish?” And “so?” Comments. I find quite a bit of these and typically don’t play them being they’re refurbished or refinished. So that’s why I posted. Interested in finding out if any of these balls are ever not Prov1s
-
So I cut a Prov1, a refurbished Prov1, and a refinished Prov1. It seems that the refurbished one isn’t actually a Prov1 as it doesn’t have the extra core layer. Thoughts? I found these balls and thought it would be neat to see. I may cut open all refinished/refurbished Prov1s that I find and track them.

2019 vs. 2021 Odyssey Ten Putter
checkerfred replied to checkerfred's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
You’re right, I don’t see any performance in things like forgiveness. I can feel a slight difference in the feel between the two though. The 2019 model has a softer sound and feel than the new one. I seem to putt better with the newer one. Not sure if it was because of the thinner top line and filled in holes on the body, or if because the 2019 model had a superstroke grip with a counterbalance weight in the butt. I putted good with it too but seems like I was more consistent with the newer model. I need to do some more testing. -
Can anyone tell me the differences between these two besides cosmetics? The 2021 version they’ve filled in the holes of the head but is there any other differences like forgiveness? I can’t seem to find much info between these two and the Pga Superstore is selling them both at the same price.

Rogue Sub-Zero Worth Upgrading?
checkerfred replied to checkerfred's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I mean I like it and usually drive it ok but sometimes spray a few. I’m sure that’s not the driver. I’d say when I miss currently it’s more to the heel side and I get a spinny cut that doesn’t roll out, or I hit a pull draw. My normal ball flight is a baby draw. As for dispersion I don’t really know because I don’t know what a really good fitted driver would yield in that area. I think it’s decent. I’m going to try and go get fitted in the next few weeks. I’d just hate to spend the money and then find out that any improvements are minimal…at least I would know though -
Rogue Sub-Zero Worth Upgrading?

hahaha nice....I typically keep it somewhere near center with the occasional heel shot but knock on wood, haven't had a sky mark in a very long time -
Rogue Sub-Zero Worth Upgrading?
checkerfred replied to checkerfred's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
That's exactly the info I was wanting....I know that clubs are to the limits as far as distance but wasn't sure if some clubs are engineered to be more forgiving, straight, etc. I plan on getting fit soon just to see if I'm leaving something on the table. -
I currently play a Rogue Subzero 9* with Project X Hzrdus Yellow 75 Stiff shaft. I've never been fitted but landed on this one and hit it pretty well. Would a more current driver offer anything more than the Subzero? I'm not talking about distance really because I'm sure most heads are similar. I'm talking more about things like forgiveness and stability.

I have a set of Titleist 962b's in 2-pw. I'm curious as to how they'd compare to a modern iron? I own some Callaway Apex Pro 19's. I know the loft is going to be weaker on the Titleist irons. I thought about having them bent back to standard and maybe strengthening the loft, regripping, and then playing them. They were my first set of irons. Any thoughts on performance to todays more modern irons?

Weight Shift Question on Downswing
checkerfred replied to checkerfred's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I have one. I guess I’ll have to post a video there. -
I’ve had several lessons in person and even a few online where the instructor was trying to get me to rotate my hips more. I would be told to feel pressure on my left foot into the ground etc. I’ve also had issues with my head moving forward causing over the top and shanks. So when I’ve been told to shift my weight like this, I would be prone to move my head forward and hitting shanks. Most recently I’m shanking again and hitting it all over the face, hitting it fat etc, but my head is staying back. I notice when I shift my weight it’s going out to the toe, which is putting the heel closer to the ball. Now my question. I found that if I take a half swing and pause, keeping my shoulders closed, then feel like I let my weight go on my left heel, with nothing else moving, I hit it solid and in the center. However doing this move, my head still goes forward some but not so much it’s opening up my upper body causing over the top. Is this wrong? My thought process was if it goes forward some it’s fine as long as I’m not putting the heel of the club closer to the ball. I read iacas’s thread on the hips continually shifting to the target albeit with rotation. In those examples, it looks like their heads aren’t moving much forward
-
Thanks! I’ll look for some of those. It’s weird, I can bump and turn but it’s just so hard to do it at any kind of speed. My rotation is more limited on the turn but I can still rotate some
-
Maybe so because I can get into impact position at setup and have no issues. It’s just been so hard to try and get into the position you describe. It’s like my body just freezes up
-
Thanks! I’m as strong as I was but I’ve had issues getting my lower body to rotate. I’ve had some in person lessons about it too and I just struggle. I can slide no problem except sometimes I end up moving my head forward and then start shanking but it’s the rotation after sliding that I struggle with. I need to look up some flexibility drills for that

Recently went through surgery colon cancer and trying to somewhat get back in shape. I’m hitting it horrible. Hitting pulls and blocks, some shanks, and having issues with fat shots.

So I've been practicing the Quickie Pitch shot. I always hear weight forward on a pitch or even a chip. I've never known the proper way to have the weight forward. Nothing feels right when I do it. I feel like I'm way too stuck just leaning toward the target and pivoting feels weird.....Also, when I move my weight forward, I tend to feel like my left shoulder is lower to the ball and my head is forward of the ball too.....I just feel way too uncomfortable when I try to put my weight forward So what is the proper way to do this? Like where on the foot should I feel that weight? Heel or toe? More toward the instep? Do the shoulders stay level and head behind the ball?

Quickie Pitching Video - Golf Pitch Shot Technique
checkerfred replied to iacas's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I'm happy to have found this thread. I had a guy show me this that worked with a very well known teacher here and he showed him this technique. I never could get it down consistently and couldn't figure out why. He didn't explain it like this though, so hopefully I can nail it now. On this shot, or even a chip, when you put the weight forward, where on the foot should I feel that weight? I've never known the proper way to have the weight forward. Nothing feels right when I do it. I feel like I'm way too stuck and can't pivot good.....I just feel way too uncomfortable when I try to put my weight forward. Also, would float loading not encourage more forward shaft lean since the hands are moving forward on the downswing earlier than the club head?- 773 replies

To Move or Not Move the Head in the Golf Swing
checkerfred replied to mvmac's topic in Swing Thoughts
So I'm confused on the head movement. I've seen it said over and over about keeping the head still but I've noticed lots of players not only move it a few inches or so going back but then it moves even further back on the downswing into impact. For instance, this swing of Justin Thomas. His head moves way back at impact from where it was at address. I see other pros do this too though maybe not as much as he does. I drew lines to show address and impact. His head is way back from where it started. Now this is with a driver so I'm not sure that factors into it? I've seen an iron swing from him and it moves back some but not as much as this...maybe an inch back from where it was. It pretty much just stays back. -
I've been Playing Golf for: 21 years My current handicap index or average score is: 75-85 My typical ball flight is: Everywhere lol. I typically hit a draw but sometimes I'm all over the place during a round, hitting fades and draws. The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Pulls and huge pushes/blocks. Videos: Hey everyone! I'm been on the site for a while but haven't been active so I'm trying to change that. I've played golf a long time and while I can shoot a decent score sometimes, I'm just not consistent. I really want to fix that and get down to a very low handicap. I feel like I can do it. I've had several lessons in the past and a recent one where we worked on rotating through and clearing my left hip. Other lessons have also mentioned this and I struggle with it. I don't have any injuries and can do the motion, although I'm sure nowhere near what a pro would be, but during the swing I struggle. One of the hardest things for me to get right is being on plane in the backswing. I just can't consistently do this. I've tried just about everything but still feel like I take it too much to the inside. I've just joined back on Evolvr too so hoping I can fix some of these issues. For the most part, I hit the ball fairly in the center of the club face, just not consistent with direction or taking out one side of the course. Not sure it matters but here's my typical club distances. Driver: 260ish to 290ish depending on the day and ball flight, 3 Wood: 235-240, 2 Hybrid: 215-225, 4 iron: 190-195 then stepping down about 10 yards through each iron, but depends on the day and what kind of contact. Some days I hit it really good and hit the ball farther

I am definitely doing this too. I've had some lessons and still struggle with it. My hands go way out away from me then really high. Sometimes my timing is good and I'll hit a draw but then there's times I'll leave the face open and hit blocks/pushes.
