  1. There is only 1 nearest point of relief. As you are righty your nearest point would most probably be on the left side of the path if ball is in the middle. Note also that you need to take complete relief What you are asking is to use nicest point of relief which is never available.
  2. I do not think the bold is correct that you need to take complete relief from the hazard. For free relief (cartpath or whatnot) you do have to take full relief at NPR (nearest not nicest point of relief)
  3. Hi, i guess this thread is quite similar to my last thread but still a little different. I want to know how you guys think/dont think and do/donts after a great front 9. My last couple of rounds i have played the front nine so nicely. Hitting lots of greens and making birdies going out in +-1 of 36. Usually the real trouble holes are 12-15 where i usually get around in +3-4. Does not matter which kind of holes it is its that stretch and i can usually finish quite strong. Let me know how you tackle this!
  4. ive been playing nike 20xi-x the last 10 rounds and preformance very much like the pro v1x. one big difference is that the nike is a bit firmer off the putter. but the best part is that the cover is very durable. I can easily play 1 round (3-4 full wedge shots) with one ball whereas with the titleist it can be ruined in 1 shot. in my experince it even skuffs up on halfshots sometimes!
  5. you would not feel the weight but i guess you have changed the club but since its ok to put lead on the clubs this should be ok!
  6. Just hit the new rocketballz and it does have some great distance. My question is ,since i have promised myself that i will never be seen with a white club in my back, are you allowed to paint you clubs? I guess it would change the weight of the head slightly?

    improved putting

the same, one of my friends putt crosshanded and saw improvement. and i putt "normal" and saw huge improvement in just a couple of sessions. have a pelz putting tutor and before i struggeled to make 10 in a row through the small gate now i can continue until im exhausted, bored or both!
  8. I usually just read this forum but now i found something that has really helped me and thought i would share! I stumbled across this video on youtube a few weeks back. The video has Thomas Björn talking about his putting drills with putting with just one hand. I started practicing not with one hand but with the feel that the left hand was doing my putting stroke. My putts now start on line and i have made on avg 1.7 more birdies per round (5 rounds) since i saw this video! I told a few friends with a little higher hcp and they improved instantly. Thought i would post this and hopefully some of you can mark down a few more birdies.
  9. i would check your lie angle. i pushed a lot of shots with my 7 iron a while back and had the lie checked and it was way flat compared to the rest of the set. generally too flat will push to upright will pull.
  10. Hi, Have been away from golf for a few months because of a disc herniation. Have played 7 rounds since coming back the first 4 where quite horrible with scores very close to 90 but managed to stay right under it every round 86,89,85,89. The first 4 rounds i did not feel i "had it" But the last 3 rounds i have been playing great front 9s Even par, +1 and this saturday -2 for the first 9 holes. All these second 9´s have also started out ok but the last 5-6 holes i have just been blowing up. doubles and triples coming in to the scorecard finishing with good scores mid-high 70´s but very frustrating when the game is there. I know one of the reasons is i start thinking about posting that nice score around par and get tense. Also my physical fitness is not 100% after 2 months without real excersice may play its part towards the end of the round. Give me your best tips for keeping focus for 18 holes especially when playing good golf.
  11. danang seems to be the place to go! 2 nice courses by the looks of it. i have only heard great things about it. otherwise after living in asia for a while is that the quality of golf is quite good but also expensive. enjoey asia.
  12. did not see this one but got it told to me the day after. it was during a corporate day at my local club and there was a 4 ball with a old, grumpy boxer who was not the best golfer, especially this day, together with two better players. I think it was on the 16 hole the boxer ended up in a bunker and took 6 shots in it before deciding to give up and screaming throwing the SW into the woods. One of the other guys replied with one of the best comments i ever heard "you better throw a provisional because you will never find that one"
  13. ive been using a program latley that is quite useful. Never used V1 or analyzr so i cant really compare. Check it out and see if it does what you need. Its free. http://www.kinovea.org/en/
  14. I use this, not sure what the brandname is in the states but it works wonders on white leather shoes, also great for cleaning your chromed clubs!
  15. i have the V2 and i think i would use it about 40-50 times per round measuring mine and playingpartners shots. i have not really timed how long it lasts but it feels like i change about every 10-15 rounds. I buy panasonic CR2 batteries for about $5 here in Malaysia. I seen a few sales where they sell bulk, like 50+ batteries for about $2 each.

    Can not score!

approach shot distance i dont really understand. it can be anything depending on course. avg 1st putt distance GIR last 20rounds = 25 feet avg 1st putt distance GIR last 5rounds = 16 feet and its really the last 5 rounds that has been a bit frustrating since ive been so close but not scored as well as i think i should. % greens inside 100 yards i would like to say 100% but the real figure is probably around 90% and not always close. birdie putt distance should be the same as GIR 1st putt. up and down first putt = 13 feet cody west after your input when i think about my wedge game is not very sharp. i feel more confident putting it close from 135-140yards with a full 9iron then a 3/4 SW from 75yards.

It sure looks like the difference is about 4 putts a round :) With 1.83 putts per GIR you must make a ton of birdies! My feeling when i play is that if i made a 2-3 birdies per round i would brake 80 every time. I will be on the putting green alot this summer i think. Im also thinking of experimenting with a larger head putter and maybe with a insert. I have always played Anser or B60 all metal heads. Maybe a change can be good as confidence is extremely important in putting.

    Can not score!

so far im only playing golf around KL but planning some trips but most probably it will be to thailand. but going home to sweden for summer holidays latley ive been really motivated to play golf so i guess i will get a good amount of practice in! scrambling for me is making par when missing the green so making par after pitching out of the woods would be in this category. i also keep up and downs which is chip/pitch(shot inside 50yards) + 1putt for par. But presented the wrong info. Scrambling is 35% last 20 rounds Up and down is 39% last 20 rounds. Sand saves 15% 33 putts per round Putts per GIR 2.06 Putts per missed GIR 1.61 When i look more into my stats and compare to the ones you talk about i can see that maybe my biggest "score destroyer" is that i avg 1.5 double bogeys per round i also make a triple rougly every 10 rounds and only making 0.65 birdies per round

i keep all my score in scorecard2 my shortgame is weak. scrambling last 20 rounds is 39% how does that compare to you guys?

dont remember every putt but the feeling i have is that i can miss either way short, long, right left. I guess my green reading is not what you would call good but i do think i always have a good idea of the break but over/under read it alot. I also play lots of different courses so difference in greens might play a part as well. Last couple of holes yesterday i started lining up the text of the ball to my line and it worked ok and i actually made 1 longish putt (10feet). So i will give that a go in the next couple of rounds. I soon have 4 weeks off for golfpractice so throw some good puttingdrills on me as well!

    Can not score!

My last five rounds i have been hitting the ball great hitting lots of greens but i dont feel the score reflects that. Last 5 GIR% avg: 49% Last 5 scores are: 77,81,80,78,79. I have been hitting a bunch of greens, like yesterday (79) i hit 11 greens but only made one birdie and that was after hitting i par 5 in two. I know my putting is killing me and i also avg 1 double bogey every round which is a killer. I have a putting mat(2.5m) at home which have gotten a lot of time latley but i still do not make it from that range(2-3m 6-10 feet) hence the lack of birdies. Very receptive greens and my short irons was on fire i think i had 5 of these opportunities yesterday and did not make a single one. How to you start making these putts? Time for a new putter? Also i tend to loose focus in the middle of the rounds and thats where that double bogey shows up. I usually come back a little after that but usually quite angry.
  22. i have owned both a gps and rangefinder. for me the gps was a waste of money and time! you have to rely on someone to make a good mapping of the course and most probably pay for it. also you wont know the real distance as you will get only to front, middle and back. you are also in the hands of the mapper on what hazards or distances you can get! the only small advantage is if you do not have a line of sight. but i have never been in the postion where i can get a reasonably accurate distance by just walking a few meters to get the sight. rangefinder will give you the exact distance to pin and ALL visable hazards and carries. since i got the rangefinder i find myself making a lot more birdies since i learned how far i hit my wedges. im pin high a lot more know then before. the biggest advantage for the rangefinder is that there is no subscription, no loading maps and you can trust the reading.
  23. How is the vertical axis in the graph decided. Sometimes i think that axis is very stretched or sometimes not enough. Is it possible to implement a option to decide the axis yourself? Ill make a quick edit! For example. Fairway hits, GIR, Up&Down; and scrambling i would like 0-100% GIR scoring avg does not go below 0
  24. Hope this is in the right forum. I recently played around in Australia an they have got some extra water this year. One of the waterhazards was flooded. I ended up outside the hazard but in some water connected to hazard. From the rules i read this Water hazard = All ground or water within the margin of a water hazard is part of the water hazar Casual water = Casual water is any temporary water on the course which is not in a water hazard and that is visible before or after a player takes his stance. The bold the reason i dont think it should be a waterhazard. My opponent was sure he heard somewhere that it should be treated as a hazard. I had my rulesbook and showed him the above quotes but he was certain so i played an alternative ball but counted "my" ruling with a drop for casual water. Can someone clearify this? If it is to be treated as a waterhazard please refer to decision or rule. Thank you
  25. the worst ones are when you are insanely unlucky when hitting a good shot! 1. Perfect approach that would land and stop 1 meter past the hole hits the stick and bounces in to the shit (bunker, water, rough) 2. hitting that solid drive, on that perfect line over that huge waterhazard looking good all the way just to come up a meter short. 3. bad bounces on good shots (i do like the good bounces on bad shots though) 4. missjudging distance to clear bunker and getting a plugged lie in the face of the bunker (bought a rangefinder so i can blame judgement anymore) 5. hitting shots fat
