  1. First of all, I have seen a big improvement in my ballstriking since reading the "deep hands" thread. My question is at what point in the takeaway should I start taking my hands "deep". It seems that if I take them deep too soon, the clubhead gets well inside my hands at parallel. Should I start straight back until a certain point and then go deep with the hands, or is there something else I am doing wrong? I will try to post another video as soon as i can.
  2. Uncle Buck It's hard to top John Candy.
  3. Lots of great recommendations. I'm going after work tomorrow and am planning to try out the Wilson Fybrid, the Adams Idea a7, and possibly a TM Raylor. Here's hoping that they have them in the loft I'm looking for. It seems that around here most stores don't carry any hybrids with a loft less than 22* or so.
  4. I see what you mean. Makes perfect sense. Would this promote and out to in swing that could be causing a fade?
  5. I decided to try recording my swing when I got home from work today. This is an old MacGregor 7 iron I use to keep the soil broken up in the backyard. Just looking for impressions/suggestions.
  6. "decent ball striker" is about right. I do keep most of these stats on a regular basis. Usually around 34-36 putts, 7 or so fairways, around 5 G.I.R., and I usually get up and down around 3 times. Most of my one putts are when I get up and down. My biggest stepping stone right now is the sand.
  7. I would mostly like to improve my G.I.R. The 52* and 58* wedges I have are just right for me so I cant see adding a wedge. I actually use the 3 iron at least a couple times a round at my home course and am comfortable with it. After seeing some of the recommendations here and knowing what would be the most useful for my game, I think I've decided to pick up a hybrid in the next few days. I'll do what was suggested earlier and take my 3 wood and 3 iron and find something that splits the difference. Thanks for all the help.
  8. I think I've decided to try out a hybrid at Dick's in the next few days. If it feels right I'll probably get it due to the fact that they are supposedly a bit better out of the rough. I figure an 18* hybrid should bridge the gap between my 3 wood and 3 iron pretty well. Thanks for the suggestions.
  9. I've been playing with 13 clubs for a while now and am looking to add a 14th soon. Right now I have: Taylormade Burner Driver & 3 Wood Mizuno MP-57 3-PW Mizuno MP T-10 52* & 58* Odyssey White Ice #9 I'm thinking about adding a hybrid to bridge the gap between my 3 iron and 3 wood. Any suggestions on a good hybrid? I have never hit one and don't really know much about them. Or would I be better off getting a 5 wood instead?
  10. Playing much more this year. I sprained my ankle about this time last year and had to put up the clubs. I have been making up for it this year for sure.
  11. Mizuno MP-T10 58/10, a dozen Srixon Trispeed Tours, and a new FootJoy Weathersoft glove.
  12. Srixon Trispeed Tour for me.
  13. In my mind I am singing a Beastie Boys song over every shot - "Let it flow, Let yourself go, Slow and low, That is the tempo." It gets me in a groove.
  14. I realized my mistake after it was too late to edit my post. Checked the scorecard again, and it should have been 6 pars instead of 5. I knew it wouldn't be long before someone called me out on it.
  15. These are the only two I have played so far. Looking to take in a few more though.
  16. The GW shot was roughly 70 yards. I'll take all the luck I can get on the golf course.
  17. @ bwdial: Have you played Silver Lakes? I think it will be my next stop on the RTJ Golf Trail.
  18. On the third day of my golf vacation. I started out with a 40 on the front nine so the possibility is already in the back of my mind. I played about the same until I birdied the par 3 15th. Now I'm really thinking about it. The 16th knocked me down a notch when I three put for my only double bogey of the round. Had a sand save on the 17th. It all came down to the par 5 18th. I knew I had to birdie to break 80. On my third shot I spent about a min. talking to my gap wedge. I hit it to within three feet and made the put for a 79. All in all I had 3 birdies, 5 pars, 8 bogeys, and one double. I hit 9/14 fairways, 7 G.I.R., got up and down 3 times, and had 32 putts. A penalty on the first hole and two 3 putts, but what a day.
  19. I was 5 yards off the green on a par 4. About 40' from the pin. Ball was pretty deep. I hit it pure with my 58* and it caught the break and dropped for birdie. Almost did it again later the same round. Hit the pin and rolled out about a foot.
  20. I'm looking to get this dual-hinge swing trainer. Has anyone used it? Would you recommend?
  21. Could playing Tiger Woods 2010 on Wii mess up my golf swing? I have to know what you guys think.
  22. That's what I wanted to know. Thanks for the link!
  23. I'm looking to get some new wedges and am wondering if the amount of bounce is something to choose based on handicap or if it's just preference. What are some of the advantages/disadvantages of different bounce degrees?
  24. This has always been somewhat of a problem. I had it under control but ever since I started back it seems that I do it about 50% of the time. I'm actually starting back after three years. For the most part I am striking much better. My swing feels smoother and much more balanced than i can remember it being.
