  1. Maddog - I'm interested in how this played out. Did you pick up the 64s? How 'bout the long irons? I'm eyeing a replacement for my MP-58s and the 64s are at the top of the list.
  2. For what it's worth, I was recently fitted for irons. My swing speed was consistently 80-82 mph. I hit a 7 iron consistently 155-160 yards. It was recommended I go with a stiff shaft 7i-PW; stiff shaft soft-stepped 3i-6i. Point being; there's a lot more that goes into a shaft recommendation than simply swing speed. Tempo, swing mechanics, ball striking ability all play a role. Best to get custom fitted for this reason, IMHO.
  3. Anyone experience reduced iron distance when switching to Mizuno irons from another brand? I recently made the move to MP-58s from 20-yr-old 845s. Granted, it's a move from a cast club to a forged, so that may account for some of the distance. Thanks for your responses!
  4. I just ordered some Mizuno MP-58s with the KBS Tour Shafts after going through the Mizuno fitting process at a local shop. The shafts had a tangible different relative to the stock TTDG. Anybody have any experience/thoughts on the KBS shafts?
  5. TM, did you ever go with those 58s? I'm thinking of getting a set myself and would appreciate your thoughts.
  6. I haven't hit the 67s/68s yet. Big difference between those and the 58s/62s? Also, I've read that the 58s (because the titanium insert) don't offer the same mizuno "feel" on shots struck "pure" as the 62s/67s/68s. Do you agree?
  7. I've recently hit the 52s, 58s, and 62s. I'd agree with msd3075 - 52s definitely take a higher ball flight. 52s, in my opinion, have more of a game improvement feel to them. As a consequence, I did feel as though they were more difficult to work relative to the 58 and 62s. Miss-hits on the 58s aren't penalized as much as with the 62s, but the 62s offer a sweeter "feel" when struck properly.
  8. Thanks for the feedback. Any reason you went with the 58/68 combo as opposed to 58/62? In other words, is there some kind of commonality between them that you wouldn't get with the 58/62s? I'm thinking of similarly splitting a set, but think the 68s might be a little too much club for me.
  9. Anyone have any experience with these? I've tried the 52s and 62s. Fair to say the 58s fall somewhere between the two in the forgiveness/workability continuum?
  10. I haven't tried the titleist, but I've tested the mp-52s, 62s, and am now on the 58s. First time trying mizunos...I'm not disappointed. All things being equal, I'd go with what "feels right" when standing over the ball.
  11. I agree with bman1313. I've played with the 845s for the last 18 yrs. I'm in the market now for new irons (looking at Mizunos) and, surprisingly, Mizuno's MP-52s (their most forgiving "players club") don't have a head that's much smaller than the 845s. All-in-all the 845s have served me extremely well. Highly recommended.
  12. I too am exploring Mizuno's new line. I'm in the market for new irons after 20 yrs with 845s. I tried the mp-52s first - nice club, but didn't seem to be as much of a game enhancement club as I anticipated. I'm now demo-ing the mp-62s. They definitely require a solid swing, but when you him 'em flush, it's certainly a beautiful feel. Can anyone offer any thoughts on the new mp-58s? Fair to say that they fall someone between the 52s and the 62s in the forgiveness/workability continuum?
