  1. 210 max with a 3 wood. I will probably hit the green with the 3W about 15% of the times. Most of the time it is a short chip on the green with some chance of 1 putt. Any thing longer than 220 then I will hit a club that will leave me a 100 yard shot with the PW.
  2. I have been playing a set of MX-20 with Dynalite Gold shafts and just bought a set of MP-60 with Dynamic Gold shafts. I didn't pay attention to the shaft model and weight as long as they are R flex. Wow, was I wrong? The 13 grams difference between between the shafts is huge. I don't like the feel of the heavier shafts and eventhough they are also R flex, they feel really stiff. Now I have to sell them back on ebay which is a shame because the iron heads are in excellent condition. Or should I replace the shafts? How much would it cost?
  3. I reccomend the Hi Bore Monster. It is nice and straight. Its MOI is near the limit so it helps to minimize bad misses. The drawback with this club is loudness. I have it and every time I hit it the sound rings my ears. But that is fine for me.
  4. I play with R irons but I have always play with Stiff Drivers. Most of my friends are the same. I don't even remember why I decided to played with Stiff driver since the beginning. Today I was at GolfSmith and I used the Launch Monitor to check my swing speed for the first time. My average driver's club head speed was 91 MPH and carry was about 195 yards resulting in 210-220 yards. I don't know why but I hit longer on the course, carry about 210-220 and averaging about 240. I checked many times with a GPS unit so it is not like I only remember my best drives. Should I be looking at R flex for my driver?
  5. I went to GolfSmith and the guy who helped me was really helpful. He had me hit the ball on a lie board and found out that I need 3 degree flat for my SW to 8 iron, and 2 degree flat for 7 to 5 irons. No adjustment needed for the 3 and 4 iron. The cost is $5 for each, so it was $35 total. I will pick them up on Tuesday to try them out. I wish I hane done this earlier.
  6. Yes, I tried gripping it down but it only helps a little bit. I don't have much problem with the long irons but the short irons are especially bad. I have been hitting them left all these times and not sure why. I would like to blem on the lie . I am going to GolfSmith today. Their website says they charge $3.99 to adjust the lie of each club. I am not sure if this is only for bending the lie according to my spec or this will include checking each club after I hit on the lie board. Thanks,
  7. At address my clubs are upright with the toes pointing up. I am 5'7" with 33" of wrist-to-floor measurement. Most info I found suggest that my standard clubs are any where from 1 to 2 degree to upright. Practicing on the mats, I can see that the marks are from the heel to the center and very few at the toe. If I just want to adjust the lie, how much is the cost and where I can go? I can't afford swing analysis, putting analysis, shaft analysis which I found out cost $400. I live in San Diego. Thanks,
  8. It helps you with improved flexibility, and balance. In addition, your mind should be relax with yoga. I used to do it and it really helped my game, however I didn't stick with it.
  9. I wonder if you think it is possible to tell if I am swing out-to-in by looking at the marks on the sole of my clubs? Is this normal or does it indicate that I have an over the top swing? May be you can view by clicking on this link. Or can someone helps me. Thanks http://api.ning.com/files/fitJa8d57V...506&height;=370
  10. I finally got my MP-60 irons today and I went to the range immediately to try them out. My first impression is that they seem to be heavier than my MX-20 irons even with the smaller faces. May be because of the sensicore shaft. I lost some distance with the MP-60 irons, may be about 5 yards. The ball flight is also lower with the MP-60. I can tell immediately when I mis hit which was about 50 percent of the time. With my MX-20 irons, these mishits wouldn't be so obvious. When I hit it in the sweet spot with the MP-60 irons, the feel is very nice. I noticed that I have pay extra attention with the contact location on the club face and adjust my aim, stance, and swing accordingly. I was some what care less with the MX-20 irons all these times. My only regret is that I have made the switch earlier. My handicap has been in the range 12-20 for the last 5 years depending on how much I play. I hope to break in the single digit ranks with better iron play and better short game.
  11. I agree, but you can work on your short game and your full swing at the same time. But whatever you do, you need to have a plan at the range. Don't just go to the range and pound balls after balls and expect to get better. For example, if you slice your drives, then work on fixing it (with a low handicap player observing your swing). At the range you will spot a low handicap player and he will most likely love to help you. Generally people love to give advice at the range, sometimes too much.
  12. Since you tend to chip over the green and/or have 3 or 4 putts you need to work on chipping and putting. Chipping: Even people who shoot 80-90 miss 9 out of 18 greens. Right now you probably miss 14 greens so you will chip on most holes. Work on: --Chipping from 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 20 yards from the green. When chipping, if you have a lot of green to roll the ball, you should chip with a mid iron and let the ball roll. For example, if you missed the green by 4 feet and you have 30 feet of green to roll the ball, then you should chip the ball with 7 or 8 iron and let the ball roll to the hole. The reason is that when you try to get the ball up high with a sand wedge, you have more chance of making mistake. Chipping with a mid iron is similar to putting with much smaller chance of making huge mistake. With this you should save at least 5 strokes from your score Putting: Currently you have 3 or 4 putts. 4 putt is a no no. With some practice you should have no more than two 3 putts per round. Do this: -- Practice lag (get close to the hole): --Putt from five paces from the hole. Try to get within 1 feet of the hole. --Putt from 10 paces from the hole. Try to get within 1.5 feet of the hole. --Putt from 15 paces from the hole. Try to get within 2 feet of the hole. --Practice short putts--2 feet, 3 feet Note that the length of your back-swing in putting will control the distance. So take a note of this. You should save another 5 strokes Suddenly you are shooting in the 90s. With better ball striking, you should break 90.
  13. Too Tom Kite look-a-like. I will stick with the oversize tour visor.
  14. Thanks, I will buy the titleist tour visor.
  15. So I beat Mickelson on this hole? I got up and down and parred this hole. My third shot was in a down hill lie and 130 yard from the elevated green, my shot didn't get high enough and rolled into the left side bunkered. I hit a good sand shot and got within 5 feet. Made the putt. One of the guy showed me the 13th hole tee box during the US open. He said during the tournament, players had to carry 260 yards to clear the canyon. Of course, players like Kenny Perry didn't like it. They had to lay up to the right side and it became a real par 5. There were about 15 hanggliders flying near the cliff. One even got so closed to us that we could have hit them with a sand wedge shot. The view on many holes were breath taking. I took a picture with my phone which doesn't do much justice. You have to see it in person. 16. I also have the same problem. Push fade (not slicing) and pull hook.
  17. What are some drills that help/promote hitting down on the ball? My problem is picking the ball at contact which makes the ball flight very high and losing distance. Someone suggested buying the 'tour striker' practice club but I don't want spend more money right now. Thanks,
  18. Height is over-rated in golf (I am 5'7"). Kim Jong Il, barely 5'2" without platform shoes, proved this point. http://www.nytimes.com/1994/10/19/op...ht-ederic.html
  19. How about this? LOL. On the other hand, I think I have found it. Does it look like it has a large brim? However, I want to find something nicer. http://www.amazon.com/Bridgestone-To...ef=pd_sbs_sg_2
  20. My standard sized visor doesn't cover my whole face so I am looking for a men's oversized visor but have had no luck so far. I don't need one that is huge like the women's oversized visor but something 20 to 30 percent larger than the standard men's visor. Have you seen one? Please recommend. Thanks,
  21. The other three guys wanted to Play Blue so I didn't want to be the only guy playing White. My drives are about 230-260 Which leave most of my second shots with 3 W, 3i or 4i. The problem was that I missed 16 greens and the rough was about 3" all around (5" during tournament times). One of the three guy shot in the 90s. The other two shot over 110.
  22. On Saturday I went to a local course and shot 84, my lowest score in two years. I played from the blue tees and the yardage is about 6300 yards. On Monday, still excited from my good playing on Saturday. I went to Torrey Pines South to test my new found confident. I played from the blue tees (7050 yards), which I quickly found out was a bad decision. First hole is 450 yard par 4 into the wind. It seems like we played every hole into the wind there. I got on in three and bogeyed the first hole and thought it was a good start. After that I started to doubled and tripled and ended up shooting 19 over in the front with only one par. I think I was a little shocked in the beginning at how long the holes were and even with good drives many of your approach shot would be with woods and long irons. I calmed down and shot 9 over in the back for a total of 100. I can't imagine what my score will be playing from the black tees (7600 yards) with deeper rough and narrower fairways during tournament times. You have to try this to appreciate how good the PGA players are.
  23. Go to Thailand! Amazingly, my carry distance is almost exactly the same with the ladies. All I have to do is hit straighter and have a sex change too.
  24. I already have the momentus and the medicus. I just don't want to spend another $100 on a practice club. Although I watched the tour striker video and I like it. May be I will buy it next year.
  25. We all know that practicing the short game is beneficial to your scoring but most of us spend 90% of our practice time on the range. Frankly, I just don't like practicing the short game. Usually I just spend 5 minutes putting and then 10 mininutes chipping and then an hour on the range hitting 100 balls. Most of the time, I don't bother stopping by the practice geen or chipping greens at all. In addition to lowering your score, short game practice is free on most courses. On the range, it is like hitting dimes. What do you do to motivate yourself to work on the short game? Please share.
