  1. what i dont understand is how people DONT take care of their clubs. i wipe my club down after each shot with my bag towel, and will throw them in a bucket of water after a round let them soak for 30 seconds and take the copper wire brush and towel to them to clean them off. i've seen people play with irons that have so much dirt on them. how the hell do you expect to get any type of spin when the grooves are filled with dirt? i watched a show on the importance of the grooves and how the new rules are affecting shots. ever since then ive been OCD about ensuring my grooves are clean after every shot. you are doing yourself a disservice by not. most sets of irons are $500+. Why wouldn't you take care of them? the face is the single point of contact between you and the ball
  2. Glad to hear about the weather I'd love to hear about the other course Thx
  3. no one has played this area in the spring or can comment on the courses in the are?
  4. When we recently moved into our new apartment downtown my gf was away in europe for 11 weeks on business when I did the move (ya nice of me to do it alone i know). I got all the important things unpacked, the Plasma, the computer, digital cable box, surround sound, couches, coffee table. Rest of the stuff sat in boxes in various rooms in the apartment. It was the middle of summer and i had just got a 60* and wanted to work on putting and chipping so i set up a little chipping area down the carpeted hallway and putting in the living room. Moving boxes make great backstops for stopping errant chips, which I only learned after I put a golf ball dent in the hallway after skulling one. Needless to say gf was a little confused when she came back and there was close to 50 golf balls kicking around the place. Under couches, in random boxes, in the bathroom under the cupboard.....
  5. I'm from Canada and am sick of the cold. It's been 3.5 months since my last round of golf and me and a buddy are sick and tired of it. We're planning a guys trip down to the desert, centering on Mesquite Nevada. The plan is to fly to Vegas with 4 of us, rent a car, drive to Mesquite, and use it as home base to access both the Mesquite area courses, but also up into St Georges and Hurricane, Utah, as it is only about a 45min drive from Mesquite. We are hoping to make this trip in late February, though I just had the realization that the high desert isn't exactly hot all winter long, and can get snow in some places. I've looked at the average temp forecasts on the local almanac's online and it says it ranges between 4*C and 20*C for that time of year, but I'm wondering if that is going to be too cold to golf. I do realize while places might hit a high of some amount, they can be hidden in the shade for most of the day making is damn cold when you want to be golfing. Can anyone on here comment on what course conditions are like for that kind of time period? Part of the reason for the trip is to escape the cold, and while I'm not looking for shorts and sandals weather, I would like to play in pants and a golf shirt and leave the jacket and long sleeves in the bag. As we are looking at a 3 day affair of golf and 2 days in vegas we plan to do 4 rounds. 1. Sky Mountain 2. Coral Canyon 3. The Palms or Oasis 4. Wolf Creek Any thoughts on the course selection or substitutions you would make? I realize wolf creek is a little pricey but it's actually on par with what we pay to golf in the Rockies up here in Canada, so it's not that much of a stretch. And I am told it is worth it. Thanks, I look forward to any comments. AA
  6. 98 @ Silver Tip in Canmore Alberta. it's one of those courses in the rockies that is like mini-golf for big people. Ever seen 220' of elevation change in a hole? its big.
