  1. The Demo Day I attened this spring was at a Golf Dome. Good thing as weather in Erie,PA was shitty as always in early spring. The Callaway Rep had a launch monitor with him. He would check you out on a club and make suggestions for a different club to try.
  2. If you can find them, try the Wilson Staff Zip. They were discontinued for this year. Their 2010 ball is C:25. According to my Wilson Rep,same ball new name. After not playing for 5 years,I tried every ball I could get my hands on last year. The only ball I liked as well as the Zip,was Bridgestone 330 RX. The good news is the Zip is about half the price as the Bridgestone!
  3. 48" driver is the longest under USGA rules.Back in the day on the Senior Tour, there were players using 50", I think Rocky Thompson was one of them. I think you guys are missing the point on my comments. To use a 46" or longer driver, you have to be using a under 60g shaft and very light weight grip(Winn Lite @25 g) is perfect. If you can find a lite driver head(under 200g) and flat lie(46*), then you are whistling Dixie!!
  4. You can cut off the shaft 1" and then regrip it. My advice is take it to a clubmaker and your area and have him do it. If you grip is in good shape ,they can re-install the same grip most of the time. I am sure someone in this forum can give you a name of a clubmaker near you, Post where you live and I will find one for you if you want. Mike
  5. Check out this Hireko golf blog and let me know what you think. Thanks http://blog.hirekogolf.com/2010/03/0...rs-under-300g/
  6. There was nothing sweeter than the sound of a balata ball coming off a persimmon head driver. However, those days are long gone! I gave up on sound with the advent of metal woods and solid balls.(as long as sound isn't a clunk)
  7. Golf Professional,so I do not have USGA Handicap. Age and arthritis has shortened my length off tee a lot and this combination of length and weight has added needed yards . The balls goes straighter, becasue I can swing the club and not jump out of my shoes trying to hit the ball futher.
  8. Has anyone tried an under 300 gram total weight 46" or longer driver driver yet? Due to terrible lack of Spring weather in NW PA ,I have just started using mine ( Mizuno MX-560-12* with 50g Exsar light shaft and Winn Lite grip(25g)-Total weight of club 276 g) and the results are tremendous. Longer and straighter than any other driver in my arsenal.
  9. Here you go. A scientific explanation of swiing weight. http://www.tutelman.com/golf/design/...coast#equation
  10. Try Wilson Staff Zip Core if you can find them. I was paying about $11.00 dz online last year for a Great 3 piece ball. Both great distance and feel around the greens. The same ball for 2010 is call C:25. Expect to pay more for a while. Wilson has always a good ball ,but bad sales.
  11. http://www.scratchgolf.com/irons/sb-1/ Scratch irons without a doubt. These are the irons Ryan Moore is using on Tour now!
  12. That is very true today on the PGA and Champions Tour. You had better be playing your required contract clubs or there will be hell to pay. Back in the 60's and 70's that was not the case. IE: Gary Players'fiberglass shafts-(Steel painted black). Lee Trevino's Fautless irons-(Gold Ram tour with Fautless marked on the lead tape)-Andy North winning 2-US Opens with Sounder Clubs(They were Wilson Staffs). I could go on and on about this[. but that was then and this is now. They pay,you play!!
  13. Looking at your last 5 scores, I want you on my side with that handicap index of 21( Unless you are playing a short, treeless course with no water, bunkers or OB with a slope rating of 55). Your handicap if you are playing an average course(slope 113), will become around 15,5 or so! As a teaching golf professional for over 35 years, I would start seeking out someone to help your short game. You will lower your scores faster and therefore enjoy golf more. How many yards of draw do you play? When you hit your fade how far right does it go? If you are adverse to taking lessons as I think you are,get some alignment sticks and practice swing down your target line. If you ever get to the USA,come to Erie,PA and the 1st lesson is on me. 14. Try the Wilson Zip Core. I tried all sorts of balls last summer and found I liked the Zip Core best. Great distance and also great feel from 100 yds in.You can find them on Ebay cheap!!!!
