Started playing at age 17 and it took me until I reached the age of 41 before I finally got mine---138 yard 9 iron. That was 12 years ago, and the closest I have gotten since then is 2 feet. Strictly blind, dumb luck for my ace.

I couldn't agree more. I have been playing forever and I still haven't broken 80--- Golf requires patience and it is not a sport that provides instant gratification and to make changes ala Rymer would only dumb down the game. Driving ranges could get creative with gimmicks to attract people to the game but leave the course alone! People can find a local easy "dog track" where they can learn the game and play without major difficulty.

Larry Nelson won a couple of majors, played in the Ryder Cup and was totally overlooked as a potential captain. I guess it's not "what you know" but "who you know".

I live in the area ( Skokie )--- Where did you witness this? I've never seen one in person.

The problem that I see is that your feet are always above the ball if you stand on the mat, and they are always below the ball if you stand on the grass ( without using the mat ) I think that the thing would have be a heck of a lot bigger so that you could actually stand in the sand for it to be useful.

47 + 42=89--- 8 over on the par 3's. 2nd time out using new Cally Diablo Edge Shovels.
