Once you applied you know your ideas as I have and add 50+ yards in a session for a pro and 30 for irons and made them make everything on the green and so on it tends to rub off. I also applied the same ideas for myself and removed 5 shots with putting alone. Once you take a Pro and do a swingoverhaul in 3 weeks for him and its fully functional in 3 months and better than his old swing it tends to rub off on you. The Dan plan isnt a bad one but he is burning out from the amount of practice he is doing. The talent code as an example you need deep practice which isnt more time but less time to create a turbocharged increase of ability. Dan just isnt following that. I would alter the time spent, increase the intensity and add some better feedback and he be a + handicap with it.

Dan is practicing to much and not properly. Hitting a platue is common due to any flaw in your game will show up as a mistake somewhere. Hitting it flush making impact is priority one and as long you cant do that you wont get a + handicap.

Should we ditch the 'swing of a thousand positions'?
soon_tourpro replied to ChrisGSZ's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Feel is key. However science dont know how to train feel based approach effectively. It take 3 months or less to do a swing overhaul. Not 2 years ala Woods etc.. I got the numbers for it. -
Michelle Wie...Will she ever return to her previous form?
soon_tourpro replied to Tontj5's topic in Tour Talk
75-72-70-68 her scores last tournament. The Leadbetter camp move was a bad one. and she needs a putting trainer who can teach her confidence. -

The Leadbetter curse hit her. another one bite the dust. -
Its much harder than people understand. scratch is easy, but to get to +5 or such isnt. I see tour players come to a more normal course, they easily shoot 63. Bubba has some rounds under 60 on such. Not to say it isnt doable or even possible but it requires some big determination and ambition. a good plan isnt enough you need a great plan.

Is "The Perfect Swing" overrated?
soon_tourpro replied to TPowell's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
There are textbook perfect swings. In real life however there are more about good or better swings out there. Allan doyle for example could outplay anyone due to having a perfect swing for him, did beat Tiger with 13shots or more in 2 day playing. There are more players getting lost in search of perfect swings one was Nick Faldo who stop being competive when he lost the dynamics and became a short hitter. -
Takes more time and dedication than people realize, doable yes but worth doing it indvidually so. Once you shoot 63-68 on your home course regulary then your ready to go tourschool. you also need to shoot similar scores on other courses That is how good you need to be.

Proper Grip Pressure (It's Firmer than You Might Think)
soon_tourpro replied to iacas's topic in Swing Thoughts
One reason I seldom read or post on forums, no definition, no precision and guesswork in regard to golf. 99% increase pressure as they turn and go into impact. The last procent are pro´s that learned the proper griptouch. -
How You Got Your Swing.
soon_tourpro replied to skillzwhogolfs's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
7 Months of building deep practice and variation at range to build a feedback loop. Model used Mike Austin. Result are 5 clubs longer. Self correction loop. a free flowing motion going all out. -
If one ask me, changing the swing if your a high handicap make sense, your likely to have several compensations and no feel for the proper motion. I surely did. If your a low handicap its a thougher choice, you developed feel and how people teach the golf swing will make you a lot worse before its get better unless you get insanely lucky with a great pro. Textbook is wrong IMO: Feel + evidence is needed to produce consistent result. Feel to replicate the motion, evidence to take note your doing it right.

hehe Well, there is a lot of difference I am sure, clubhead loft, shaft, and such. However, the distance is there. which isnt all candy and dandy due to distance control now is off. had 120y to middle of green and thought I use my 56w, and smoked it over green, I thought gee, next time, 52w and a punch shot. I re-worked my technique, I was a short hitter, everything from 180y with driver to 220y. I hit my 7i where I now use my 52w. Doing this work which is the thing about the Op post, has it let me post lower scores and play better golf? yes. Even though its not done yet, as I still have left overs from the old 25 years of hacking. But the way I hit the ball thursday was pure joy.
-
Yes. Between 150-180 it varies due to what shot is needed. I use softer shafts so I tend to get a little higher ballflight. I was a short hitter until reworking my swing. Half inch shorter shaft due to my height. I sometimes stand there, knowing I once hit a 7i or such or even a 4i hybrid, and then look at the current club and ask, dude what did happen? My driver/spoon isnt up to snuff yet, did ok last time at 270yard or so but still adjustment in progress with the longer club, in may I coudlnt even hit driver at all and now are getting it down where I want it to be.
-
Normally most instructors make the golfer worse. Its a focus on technique instead of playing the game. All my last 7 months since december been focus on deep practice and variation to build a feedback loop to increase my technique to become better and better. The way I hit the ball last time, was pretty special. I dont find any trainer being able to do that.

Hacker for 20+ years. started to work technique 2 years ago, even took lessons. last year I just find the modern swing would kill my back, spent this winter 7 months to build feedback and variation to build my swing from ground up based upon Mike Austin principles. I am now 4 to 5 clubs longer than I was 3 years ago. My handicap is now 8 and gone down a bit the last 2 years, shot personal best 74 last year and now once the new swing is there I need time adjusting to the distance, its mentally mostly due to having 170y to go, pulling up PW and knowing its the right club takes some time. I am having bad health which dont allow me the time I need to practice but as far I can tell, I be shooting under par during the summer at some point. I am 48 years old.

Are you a player or a practicer?
soon_tourpro replied to sean_miller's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
cant get good without practice, once you get good its about maintance and tweaks. -
True. 7...185-200 8...170-185 9...160-170 PW...160-180 52w 130-150 56w 100-140 Index 8 atm for me, so while I had 3 years ago the distance of 4 club less than today and worked the technique, so now I hit irons longer than ever. up to 5 clubs longer when I really go at it. Only made 6 greens yesterday, many shots was a tad long and roll over green. so I get into difficulty what iron I need sometimes since the distance and pulling out a 9i or even a PW seems short. I then tend to be a club or half long as far which is slowly adjusted over time as I get comfortable. 290y par 4, 20y short green with driver. middle of fairway, pitch and didnt make the putt. 445yard par 5, downhill, driver + PW = Pin high, chip downhill run past pin 4y. managed to 3 putt. The guys I played with started to go for it as I distanced them a lot. I am age 48.

The essence of the golf swing
soon_tourpro replied to dreichert's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I havent found much intelligence in any golf forum as far as its drowned in the masses of theory and search for secrets. Your statement above is correct. -
'Don't Use Your Hands!!'
soon_tourpro replied to GlasgowsGreen's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
your doing it right. the consistency is due to your pivot and proper tempo with timing. -
Never to late. Going low at your home course is step one meaning shooting 63-68 regulary if you are going Pro. Getting scratch or even a + index is np even at your age. going Pro however is a different game and its pretty tough. senior tour at age 50 is doable for you, the other tour, forget it.

The essence of the golf swing
soon_tourpro replied to dreichert's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Unless you shoot under 60 at your local club, you have not much of an essence. I find "secrets" and other such as essence so funny. None are able to take what Hogan did and do it.
