How do you guys tee up for driver and get the correct height first time??? Id like to use just normal wooden tee's as i bought a bulk buy of 500 black tee's off of ebay.. i know you can get these plastic tee's with the correct depth on them,but they look horid at address.. i know what the ball height against the driver should be but always push the tee in too far or not enough... any tips on a pretty dumb question???

Today i went to the range and i felt much better with my drives,i kept the backswing takeaway low,slow and wide ,i tried to concentrate on generating torso torque and it really does work...i dont know if i used the correct words but i know what i mean..lol and it felt a step forward in the right direction..i was hitting around about 220 maybe 230 its a job to pinpoint the real distance but im pleased with that,plus with a good ball i could expect a few more yards out on the course...

I think i might try both like you suggest,i did have a 3 wood but had big problems hitting it,long shaft small head didnt go down too well for me...maybe a 5 wood slightly shorter shaft would be better,but having said that i could just choke down on the 3 wood until i feel happier hitting with it..

I have : irons 5-SW #4 hybrid Driver should i get a 3 wood or 5 wood to fill the gap between hybrid and driver..?? i cant afford both at the moment so what would be of more use??? would a 5 wood go much further than a 4 hybrid( in theory)... im fairly new to golf so any help would be great...

Is this what lag means in the golf swing,you kind of pause at the top and start the downswing slow and then pour on the power through the ball???

I was at the range today,quite happy hitting a bucket of balls,hitting my driver about 80% ,a slite fade but the ball would of still hit the fairway..Along came this young lad im guessing he was about 18 or so (im 35) what a swing the young lad had,very fast and powerful,he was nearly jumping out of his shoes with his driver and it was dead straight and went a mile...if i try and swing above 75/80% with my driver all hell breaks loose,huge slice no distance...how am i meant to increase swing speed ,but swing within myself to get a straight ,longer drive....i just dont get it,i swing easy it goes straight but only about 210 tops...i speed up it goes big slice???

For my irons i did the same thing,i address closer to the heel and result crisper cleaner shots,this has cured hitting my irons off the toe...even if this is incorrect it works for me...

Cheers guys,im not normally nervous,i join groups of 4 that ive never met before and just play my game,but for some stupid reason doing this last round to get my HC is really screwing with my head...lol

Im from Guernsy in the channel islands,a small island in the channel..my club is La Grande Mare country club..

At my club i have to do 3 rounds..2 rounds with other members that already have there HC of over a year and the 3rd and final round with a club committee member...

What do you guys in the states have to do to get a HC??

I wish other players would play there game,i pull out what club i think i can reach with,i wish they would do the same...

A quick question...ive played golf at a par 3 course for about a year and a half,i joined a better club this year and i have to do 3 cards for my HC...ive done two and scored 95 and 96..i have to do a third card with a commitee member of the club and i have to go off the white competition tee's which are harder and longer...im getting a lot better with my irons and the last two rounds i seem to of ironed out my slice with my driver..im hitting my driver about 220yards maximum(on a good strike) and keeping it in play...i really want my HC so i can enter comps and meet new people but i just dont feel ready,how and when should i just go for that final card,,what would you guys do...

I played a round with my uncle,hes a 25 HC ,i havent gone for mine yet,he's always telling me what club to play ,how to do this and that and it really is getting me annoyed..im 35 for crying out loud,i wish hed just play his own game.On sunday i hit a bad put it was no way near close,so straight away my uncle shouts out that was noway near the hole,he said he would never buy a blade putter like mine(a scotty cameron newport 2.5) try this one he said his is an oddyssey two ball,i mean he probably hasnt even heard of a scotty...any way my point is on this par 3 (154 yards) he pulls out his #4 hybrid and hits his shot short of the front edge of the green by about 10 yards,i pulled out my 6 iron ,straight away he says thats no way near enougth club,i hit the center of the green with it....does anyone else put up with unwanted advice....by the way i hammered him 87 to me 98 to him....

I hit my 6 iron about 150 yrds,is that short or average..??i only know this as i can reach a par 3 on my course which is 154 yards..

Couldnt edit my first post? The ruling is if your oponent hits your bag no penalty,if you hit your own bag its a 2 shot penalty...

Ok Today on the first hole my golf buddy went off the back of the green,he had a short chip back onto the green,but he screemed a thin shot straight across the green and hit my golf bag the other side,this stopped his ball from going into the stream??who is in the wrong and what is the ruling for this? cheers Paul.. it was only a friendly but what if it was a comp??

Hi I started playing golf this year,(played before but only on a par 3 course) Is it possible to know around about what handicap id be??if i qualify for one in the first place.. I play a 64 par course and shoot mid to low 90's id just like to know where abouts id be...??? thanks for any help...
