I have the 52's and love them. I'm a 20 but can break into the lower 80's now. They are really nice. You can curve them by just putting your left foot forward or back and oppening and closing the face a little. Take a divot and they fly straight and true. Really great feel. You won't regret the purchase. I tried my friends mx20's and loved them so got on the mizuno forged wagon. Tried a bunch and got a great deal on ebay for 52's. I was afraid they were too much club for me but they aren't. (I don't think, as I'm playing better than ever.) they really are nice.

Titleist AP1's for a 20ish handicapper?
summerman replied to Bullitt5339's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I have the mizuno mp 52's and I'm a 20 handicapper or so and they are helping my game imensly. shot 40, 42, (on 9) and a 84 on tough course. don't be afraid to get a club above your current ability. I think it helps more in the end. -
I'm currently using Wilson Smartcore ball. Its a straight ball that doesn't quite feel like a marble and with my 10.5 titleist driver I'm keeping it in the fairway like never before. I am however missing the stopping power on the greens. It always releases and rolls... alot. I don't want to ball that spins like crazy off tee as I can really get a slice going. Anyone have a suggestion? Thanks.

Taylor made adjustable drivers and hybrids
summerman posted a topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I think I'm missing something. How is spinning the shaft changing anything? Isn't this the same as just turning the club in your hand? Does anybody have pictures of one of these clubs adjusted each way side by side to show the difference? Wouldn't the angle of the hosel also have to change? What am I missing. I went to the store and the salesman could only repeat what was in the ad, then scratch his head. (like I'm doing now.) -
I suffer some of the same at times. My cure for my driver slice is to make sure my hands are under my chin when driving, (keep the club close to me so as I'm not reaching.) It feels a little cramped at first but it has been working. As far as hitting 3 iron to right. You may need a more upright lie on your club. Having the wrong lie shows up more in the long irons. I hit my 3 to the right, 4 a little less, 5 a little better etc. I then had lie changed and it was much better. It's true the less loft the more possibility for side spin but lie is also a factor that is often times over looked. You keep hearing "get fitted, get fitted...." It made a huge difference for me. Shooting high90's to mid 80's. Good luck. I wish I could get a hybrid with a three iron length shaft and a 5 wood shafted driver with correct lie. Mizuno has the mp direct iron replacement hybrid which is a souped up iron. Check out the Mizuon site. I love my mizunos. mp52's. I find them very easy to hit. Good luck and let us know the solution when you find it.

Difference in Mizuno Irons?
summerman replied to SpacklersEdge's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I just got a used set of mp52's and love them. I was shooting high 90's and now hit 85 and going lower. They are really nice. I was looking at pings and calloways until a friend demanded I try his mx 20's. One round and I was convinced. Wow... I then bid on a few mx 20 sets on ebay but no luck. I then tried the mx 300's mx 200's and 58's and 52's etc. I finally got a great dbay deal on a used mp52 set $450 . I love them. You will love them. They felt better to me than the 300's and 200's and had less offset. I loved the 58's but was a little afraid and didn't see as good a deal. The Mizunos are really nice. They are hyped up alot but my experience is they feel great, hit great, and look great. My friends have tried hitting them and they all notice how different the forged clubs feel compared to there cast clubs. I can't compare to other forged clubs. Good luck. Get what gets you excited to play and don't look back. I agonize over things like this, but now I'm happy. I'm now just wondering if they are fakes!!!!!! If they are they are really really good ones. -
UPDATE, I ended up getting a used set of MP52's on bayarama for $425 used. I took them to range 2xs and played 9 today. I love them. I messed around and wanted to get KZG's but too expensive up here and too much trouble finding anyone to build them.... Maybe my next ones will be KZG but I really like these Miz 52's. They are solid and easy to hit. 3 and 4 arn't bad either. I hit a 5 iron 195 stiff. If you put a decent swing on them they just go where you were thinking and will supprise you how well you start to aim. Really fun. I almost also got the MX300's but I was hitting these better. Don't know why... I KZG's were awsome and I wonder how a full set of those would have been but I'm not dissapointed for the cake I spent. They really feel great.

I'm wondering about making a set of irons. How many of you have done so and was it ever a mistake? What do you do about adjusting lie, loft, swing weight, and what about frequency of shafts, splinining or spining whatever it's called? I'm thinking for 200-300 I can get a full set. I just picture me in the basement with the dremel cutting shafts then putting them in a vise and banging them with a hammer and going out to the course with the ugliest things ever. So has this happened to any of you? If I do try is there any advice? Thanks,

KZG's were the best, most solid, easiest to hit by me. I first hit the mx 300, 200 and mx 20 at Big Oak in Rochester NY, it is a pro shop?range, great place! I liked the Mx200 and mx 20's best. I then went to a fitter and had the KZG evolutions, Wishon 560's KZG forged 2's fit. Went to Golfers Edge in Rochester same day. (once lie angle was set upright I was hitting the clubs on the sweet spot.) All clubs stiff shaft. I then brought them (Wishon 560 6i, KZG Evolution 6i and 8i, Mx20 6i, 8i, the Mx 200 6i, right after being fitted to BIG Oak pro shop/range and hit them. The results were: KZG Evolution was the best. I hit a huge bucket or more of balls. I would hit a club until I got in a groove with that club and hit 3-6 in a row well then go to the next club and then back and forth agian and again. RESULTS: I could hit the KZG Evos the best by far. I could hit the first or second ball great and then hit 3 or 4 in a rown the same place, boom boom boom I would then try another club and it would take me a few to get in a groove and I could never get the groove going like with the KZG evo's. Next best...Wishon 560 but I hit the Mx20 almost as well as the 560, and the mx20 wasn't fitted to me as it was a borrowed club. I liked the mx200 and then mx300 last in that order. I couldnt hit then nearly as well and never hit that real solid hit I was looking for that I had in the KZG. Finish and feel? KZG was by far the best. Apparently these are foged in Japan at same plant as Mizuno's but are hand ground and finshed. It really showed! They felt like they had been hand finished for days. Anyone could see they were far superior in finish. I had the satin finish and the club heads in your hands were obviously the nicest feeling and looking, I can't emphasize how nice they were. My girlfriend and a couple non-golfers noticed the difference easily, they were that nice. I had the satin finish. The Wishon on the other hand, had milling marks and sharpish edges, It looked sort of crude but high quality at the same time. The Mx 20's looked better than the Wishon even though it was a 4 year old club, and the mx200 finished last as it looked like a cast cavity back in comparison. I was suprised by this. Now the problem, KZG evolutions $125/club, Wishon 560 $90/club, Mx20's or mx 25's $200-$450 a set on secondary market, mx 200's $500-$699 new. I really wanted to like the Wishon's best due to price or the Mx 200s as they were easier to get and way cheaper but the results I had were obvious to me. I hit mid 80's to high 90's with most problems off tee, (for refernce). I'm going to hit them all again as I have them at home and will post pictures too if anyone wants. Anyone have some KZG heads out there for sale? helloooo?

Forged iron's for a +26 handicap
summerman replied to redsox98's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I'm in a similar boat, I'm comming from titleist DTR's a cavity back iron and played the Miz mx20's and they were easier to hit, more solid and more fun. I'm looking at mx 200, 300 but today am getting fitted and looking at Wishon 560, and also KZG Evolutions. If your going to get them made check these out as they may be what your looking for. As much as I would like to have the 300 or even mp52's I'm more confident with a bigger head. It allows me to concentrate more on my swing versus agonizing about hitting in the middle of the sweet spot. I also found I could fade the mx 20's very controlably the first time I used them. I am also getting tired on the offset I have in my Titleists. -
Did you find the Mp 52's much harder to hit? I played the mx 20's a couple of times and found them easier than my titleist DTR's. I did a quick try of the 52's, 300 and 200 and didn't like them as much. The 20's felt heavier and more solid than the others. Should I take another try? Thanks.

PING i15's. Authentic or counterfeit?
summerman replied to mcotter's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I keep seeing a few sites where they are selling ping g15 irons for $349, Callaway x 22 for 329.. Golfdiscount.com or something. Are these fake? they say they are manufactured by OEM factory. I googled that and it seems there is an OEM chinese factory that makes all sorts of items. Anybody every buy any of this stuff?
