  2. I feel like I deserve some sort of recognition for all of this.
  3. They're pretty common and mostly universal.
  4. We finally settled on a white Nike glove with teal trim...
  5. I don't think that those types of courses are in the spirit of the thread - I think the OP is talking about cheaper courses or local municipal courses, as opposed to quality courses. Sure, there's a course around here called Firekeeper, designed by Notah Begay, that is comparable in terms of price to the course you're talking about. It's 7500+ yards from the tips, and rated 77.1/137.
  6. I tend to agree with the latter parts of this post. TPC Sawgrass is rated 76.8/155 from the Championship tees. One of my local courses is rated 70.7/125. Aside from being flatter, most local greens will run much slower as well. I would assume that to mean that a professional could just shoot at the flag, as opposed to having to think about what portion of the green the ball needs to land on. There's also probably a lot less trouble around most local greens (bunkers are extremely expensive to upkeep, and, at least in my area, there tends to be a lot less of them around).
  7. it's repetitive. i agree with the above - more useful statistics should be integrated into broadcasts. the golf channel/nbc used to use aimpoint putting lines on greens. it'd be neat if they'd show that along with hole out percentages from the person putting vs the field. it seems like they've stopped using the aimpoint line altogether, which is unfortunate - it's difficult to get a good idea of the slope of a green on tv, and i thought it always added great perspective. same with the protracer.
  8. About 75% of the NCAA revenue comes from television contract with CBS/Turner Broadcasting for the men's basketball tournament . A lot of that revenue is split up to all of the conferences involved in the tournament. I don't know for sure, but I think the venues during the tournament are bid on, and that the stadiums would collect at least some of the revenue from ticket sales.
  9. you're right - the NCAA makes all its money off of ticket sales during the tournament.
  10. Sorry I didn't get the ESPN bracket up This Louisville/Saint Louis game is painful.
  11. i tried playing LCP here in EK since the pros in SFL play LCP and since the OP said playing LCP could help lower my HCP, after i played my LCP round, i had my playing partner sign my card, and he said i couldn't play LCP, and had to add penalties every time i did LCP.
  12. Google'd "independent golf club testing" and found a couple. http://www.rankmark.com/golf-club-test/ http://www.golftestusa.com/
  13. If people want to switch it, let me know and I'll set it up.
  14. Yahoo! it is. Below is the link to the pool!! http://y.ahoo.it/i5BQkm5x
  15. I can do it - Anyone have preferences regarding host (CBS, ESPN, ect)?
  16. Anyone want to get a TST bracket challenge goin?
  17. I had the same thing happen. Contacted the golf course I purchased the club through, and they contacted TMAG and got me a replacement. Here's the thread. http://thesandtrap.com/t/46566/threads-of-r11-1-gram-weight-break-off-in-clubhead
  18. I came across another putting aid last season and have been using it ever since. Please note the superior perimeter weighting, creating maximum MOI and getting that ball rolling forward. It's GSS construction gives it great feel and feedback. I went with a revolutionary grip design that provides unparalleled comfort. Seriously, though, I've been using this for almost a year and have seen marked improvements (taken off 3-4 putts per round). My clubs were stolen out of my car, and I've been playing the 845s Silver Scots and this putter since.
  19. Actually hit this fairway both times yesterday (nine-hole course). People have mentioned Jack Nicklaus's alignment techniques (he for sure didn't come up with this, but might be the first person to mention it in an instructional video). Here's the video where he explains the technique (EDIT: Skip to 5:30 - Can't embed a video from "current time" apparently).
  20. there's one particular hole at a local course where i have to re-align myself after setting up to the ball - i'll approach the ball, look at my target, and my body does not feel as though it's aligned to that target. the teebox is arranged at an angle to the fairway, which isn't out of the ordinary, but for some reason, throws me every time i approach the hole.
  21. i came across this today - each green had two holes cut into the green, one with a flag in it and the other without a flag. these weren't "shared" greens, but it was a nine-hole course. i'm assuming they didn't replug the old holes when they cut the new one since all the grass is still dormant? i really have no idea. the question is, what happens when/if your ball finds its way to the hole w/o a pin in it? do you remove it from the hole and place it in a position no closer to the actual pin, but in a manner that ensures that the old hole isn't in your line of play? i would assume that to be the case, since it is a man-made, immovable obstruction.
  22. would you happen to have a photograph of a club you've painted with nail polish? i'd be interested to see the results/how the paint wears with use.
  23. i'm giving this another go and repainting my Silver Scots. i bought another new bag , and need to repaint the 'ol Tommy Armour's to match the bag. i'm using some different products this time to hopefully make the process easier, and the results are turning out well. on my first attempt, i used straight acetone to remove the original paint. that didn't work out so well, and there was still some residual paint leftover in some of the hard to reach areas, which caused paint to flake off when i painted over them, especially on the sole of the club. i went with more of a gel product this time from Mendards. this stuff works well, but doesn't get the paint off in one try. the first application will get the majority of the paint off, but there will still be leftover paint after it's rinsed off (i used an old toothbrush to work the stripper into the paint after letting the product sit on the surface of the club for 30+ minutes, then went underneath running water to get everything off). i ended up doing three or four applications before i got the clubs to a level of cleanliness that i was satisfied with. in my opinion, this type of product is certainly preferable to only using acetone. i really like the "naked" look to the heads once all of the paint is gone. i'll probably end up painting the soles first and seeing if i like them painted alone before filling in the cavity text (i would imagine finding the right club in the bag with no paintfill would be difficult). if i end up repainting the text in the cavity, i'll probably stray away from the original paint slightly. "845s" will remain white, but i'll make the horizontal line black and paint "silver scot" red. when i do start painting them, i'll be getting a few tipped applicator bottles to apply the paint as opposed to my old toothpick method. edit: as an aside, the clubs in my signature are no longer current. those, along with the bag that these Silver Scots once matched, were stolen out of my trunk.
  24. maybe you should Google it.
