Lee Westwood chooses NOT to be PGA Tour member in 2011
lonewolf replied to Frank-0-Sport's topic in Tour Talk
Depnds on which direction you are facing :)) Now that the Ryder cup is over I like Westwood and Clarke. Good for LW, he can stay home more; make money playing golf; get taxed a little/lot more-but so what. -
It may be a copy/paste but, What's NOT serious? Are YOU serious with your one-liner.?
-
should have snapped a quick picture of him/her on your phone and turned him/her in. This person has been in the game long enough to be comfortable to even ask the question. Self-respect is out for him/her.....he/she will be on to more nefarious activities soon.

I think you are making this way too complicated. The guide is a "guide". The price is their price. If they didn't have a guide would you be making that big of a deal? It's almost as if they are giving you too much information.
-
half-kidding here: you don't really need people to help you pack? do you? If so, I don't see scotch, playing cards, poker chips on your list.
-
Um. check his match play record. good pick IMO.
-
How much $$ ?

Other methods; since I too have learned the hardway. Lay your club accross the flagstick if possible. Toss your glove on top of your club.
-
Calling back to claim - Um. Maybe. Seems kinda skeevy to me. Simply not turning it in = self-absorbed punk. There are really people on this site that ADMIT to these actions?

Great question. RE DJ and Bubba. I would go the opposite route on best ball format. How about lefty/lefty (Bubba/Phil)? Or long ball/controlled game (DJ or Bubba with Zach or Furyk) - Assuming Zach makes it.
-
Assuming you are coming down in the next 2-3 weeks...can't be said enough. It's HOT. That is good and bad. Rates are a little lower, but it's still hot. Wild Dunes Links are also proud of their course....but it is nice. I'm not a big fan of Wild Dunes harbor course...just my opinion One step down (IMO) from Wild Dunes and Kiawah courses are: --Rivertowne, Dunes West in East cooper area --Crowfield in N. Chas. area --Stono Ferry (my home courst) in West Ashley area Two steps down (IMO) --Charleston National adn Patriots Point in East cooper area --Coosaw Creek in N. Chas. area --Shadowmoss in West Ashley area Word to the Wise----It is aerification time at many courses around here now. They SHOULD tell you when making tee-times, but I would ask.

How about penalty shots? I'm a 12 and often hit BOTH less greens and fairways with a 1.8 putting avg. Penalty shots are often killers. Two types of Penalty shots. 1.) Normal ones (OB, water hazzard, lateral hazzard drops) 2.) "Penalty shot lite" Where a wayward shot forces a punch out; chip out; miracle shot attempt; take your medicine on a short-sided chip, etc.

Bidding on one on Ebay. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not a LEO but fare pretty well firing a pistol. So does my wife, who is also not a LEO. Just becasue your reference point (retired policeman) was "trained proficiently" and still can't hit a target with his pistol doesn't mean I or millions of others can't. I would say the retired LEO you spoke with is a lousy shot....his problem / not mine. Agreed on using a shotgun in the home when possible. But, don't agree that should be my only option.....nor is it my only option.

A bit full of yourself today.

--You're already in that country. Just becasue guns are illegal doesn't mean that people (criminals) don't have them. --Um, The "Troubles" in N.I. WERE a bloodbath. You don't need me to remind you of car bombs, grenades and Libyan arms donations. Or do you? --Many of us in the US don't care that you think that. Again, I'm not trying to convince you to get a gun; why are you trying to tell me I shouldn't have one? Regarding what gives me that right to use it? Do you really need that answer? I'm beginning to believe you are a pretty young person with little perspective. --It's not up to you to decide. Need is not the question. --Nice try. Why don't you answer my question about why the US had so many Irish immigrants in the 18th - 19th century? Why do you think taht was the case? Was it due to British kindness and granting of freedoms? You want to do the apples to bowling balls analogies then stand by. --Finally, you get a different perspective. fwiw, crime rates are generally lower where citizens have greater access to guns. in the US. When rules are made in the name of citizen safety get to the point where the citizens cannot protect themselves from the tyrrany of a government you have too much power in the government. This is going to sound harsh,; but maybe you need to hear it. The US is free from British rule and it's citizens are granted a constitutional right to bear arms. Irelend; well?
-
To my golfing friends James Black and Sean Miller, 2 questions: --1.) Do you believe that criminals abide by the gun bans imposed by your government? --2.) At what point would it take for you to realize your government is becoming tyrannical? Waht would you be able to do about it?-- I'm speaking hypothetically. The citizenry is unarmed; the criminals are armed; the government is armed. -- I'm not speaking hypothetically now. I really do understand your perspective. Different countries; different histories; different cultures. But the above fact remains. You have one less check agaisnt a tyrranical govt. than the US does. Your citizens are not granted the right to bear arms. I'm not trying to convince you to carry a gun; just pointing out the differences and the reason for the right in the US.
-
Um,,,,you are not completely accurate.
-
Once again, you are admitting to a loss of your freedom. You have been conditioned to accept it by your governemnt all in the name of protecting you. You have essentially given parts of your country to the criminal element and that is acceptable to you? I get it. You believe that if the government bans something then everyone abides by that ban (including the criminals). I'm not that naive or gullible.
-
------ This is going to sound harsh. The reason you don't understand gun ownership is because you have been conditioned to not understand it by your goevernment. All well intentioned, I'm sure. But, the citizenry being disarmed is inherently at more risk of being ruled through tyrrany. Your 'don't go to that part of town' comment is very telling. Essentially, you are admitting that your freedom to move about your own country is limited by your inability to protect yourself.
-
---------------------------------------------- "If you give people power there's a chance they'll abuse it." --If you give government power there's a gurantee it will be abused. The right to bear arms is a check on that power. This may be hard for someone under British rule and/or someone without historical context to understand but governments have-do-and will abuse power. Again, an armed citezenry is a good check against that abuse. You don't like guns...then don't own one. You don't appreciate the right to bear arms then don't bear them. But don't forget......the 2nd amendment exists in the US whether you like it or not.
-
True, to a point. You are conveniently forgetting a lot of history though. May I remind you of Northern Ireland (recent history). The freedoms and liberties of the citizens of countries that do not have the right to protect themselves are - by definition - less than those of us who do. Our founders recognized that. Let's talk about Ireland, for example. Why do you think The United States of America had so many Irish immigrants in the 18th and 19th Century? Do you think it was due to the freedoms and liberties granted by the British...or was it maybe due to oppression? Bottom line is this: The golf course referenced in the OP is in the US. And the US has a Cosntitution. And that Constitution has a 2nd Amendment that deems it necessary for it's citizenry to be able to own guns.
-
to fourputt and our golfing friends in Ireland, England and Canada; the answer to your questions and ignorance is quite simple. "Amendment 2 - Right to Bear Arms. Ratified 12/15/1791 A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Look at it like this: if you allow your government to disarm you in the name of your own security then you run a high risk of allowing your government to take away your freedoms and liberties. OR let these men say it: ""Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." - Benjamin franklin "What country can preserve its liberties if its rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance?" -Thomas Jefferson "The beauty of the second amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it." -Thomas Jefferson No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government" -- Thomas Jefferson "Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect every one who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are inevitably ruined." -- Patrick Henry "To disarm the people... was the best and most effectual way to enslave them." -- George Mason For our British friends: "Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the act of depriving a whole nation of arms, as the blackest." -- Mahatma Gandhi For our far left of political center fellow golfers: Every Communist must grasp the truth, 'Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun.' -- Mao Tse-tung, 1938 The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to permit the conquered Eastern peoples to have arms. History teaches that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by doing so. -- Hitler, April 11 1942 ---------- We carry guns becasue we can. Our founders granted that right; murderers and tyrants recognize the right to bear arms as a hindrance to their goals.

Agreed on your assessment. I too became overloaded on tips and information. I played a horrible 9 holes yesterday and then hit balls until I yanked 8 straight drives / fatted 8 straight irons. After nearly losing it I left my clubs on the range / took a seat for a few minutes / thought about playing golf when I was younger. I emptied my brain of random tips, if you will. A few minutes later I took a driver and walked up and swung. No thoughts about grip / ball position / stance / first move / swing plane / footwork / finishing position / blah blah blah. I just swung. 1st swing result: Heel-cut. 2nd-5th swing result: nice high ball flight with a little cut at the end (260- 275 yards). Just like old times. Then I swung 5 straight Gap wedges. 110 yards with a nice high ball flight a little left of center. Just like old times. True test comes at the range this evening and when I play tomorrow morning. BUT, I am purging my brain of recent and random quick tips.

Help choosing a golf pull or push cart!!
lonewolf replied to PuttPutt's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
3 things: 1.)Take your bag with you to the store and put it on the cart. 2.)Test folding/unfolding in the store. 3.) Push over pull any day.
