  1. If you have the ear of someone there: Features: 1. Allow some support for marking the hole location while on the course (either by an extra putt, or a separate tag) . 2. Add a GHIN-type warning for obvious errors when signing a round: "You are signing a round with a 450yard drive", is that correct? 3. Ask what tees are being played so the slope/rating/differential can be displayed with your scores. Bugs: 1. If you edit a round and move a putt from off the green to on the green change the automatic on/off determination automatically. I had a round missing several putts because the GPS originally put both putts (and the hole) off the green. I moved them on to the green and ended up with zero putts. 2. There appears to be an un-advertised minimum refresh rate on the GPS. Several times I have tagged a shot and had it show up where I had been previously rather than where I was (most noticeably placing the spot on the cart path rather than on the tee box when I tee off quickly). Either mention that you should be in the same place for X seconds to tag, or have the device tag the next update (rather than the last).
  2. When you review your round you have the option to mark a putt as on/off the green. For shot averages they show the median, not mean, and I believe they are ignoring shots that are significantly shorter than the median.
  3. Here's my latest round. Completely forgot how to swing my short irons at the turn: http://www.gamegolf.com/player/frosty/round/97945 I while playing I noted my L/R misses to make a shot-zone for my driver and currently have on that is 65w X 35 d (using 12 of 14 drives). I need to improve that just a touch... I'm thinking of teeing off with the 3w from the deck next time out to get that club figured out too.
  4. URL: http://www.gamegolf.com/player/frosty Username: frosty Real Name: Mark Frost
  5. Which doesn't really help because their search is by real-name only, apparently. However you can get there just fine with http://gamegolf.com/players/iacas (as I figured out after some running around getting Eric's real name). The other odd thing is that I don't see any way to discover who a particular user follows. If you want to encourage discoverability and all the 'social' whatnot this is a bit of a wet blanket.
  6. The unit only vibrates (and beeps, quietly) when tagging (at least in my experience).
  7. I should emphasize that the missing strokes were all because I forgot to tag the shots, not that the device failed to register somehow. Other people might have an easier time integrating the tatting into their pre-shot (or post-shot) routines...
  8. I backed the original indiegogo campaign and have 'signed' 9 rounds with it so far this year (user name 'frosty' if anyone is interested) and here are my thoughts: 1. Tagging takes longer than you might think to get used to. My first round ended up being something like a 68 (instead of 81!) because I missed so many shots. My last few rounds, by comparison have only been off by 2-3 strokes and pretty much all of those were just putts. 2. Proper round review is very important. My current long drive is 398yards because I didn't notice I'd missed tagging an approach shot (but had double tagged a chip) so total score was correct but distance, not so much. Once you 'sign' a round it is set in stone, apparently, so I ended up creating a 'new' driver to get those outliers out of my averages. That being said, I can now review and sign a round in just a few minutes and the interface is reasonably snappy (unlike its original incarnation which was terrible). 3. You really have to charge the thing every round. The product literature seemed to indicate you could play more than one round on a charge but every time I've played (starting with a full battery) and downloaded later that day the battery level has been listed as 'low' on the uploader screen. 4. Once you have the raw data you can continue going back and adding stats. The shot-maps that people were posting screenshots of were not available on launch day, but were added as a new feature later.
  9. When I click on 'reply with quote' or 'reply' button on the last post on a page it pops up a text-box on the page and I merrily type away. More than once I have finished a rather involved post and the clicked the 'Reply To Thread' button that is directly below the box. Instead of doing what the button suggests, it throws away my reply and takes me to the 'advanced reply' box which is not, precisely what I intended. Is there a chance that this button's behavior could be changed, or could behave like the 'go advanced' button and retain my text? I'm trying to learn but I reply so infrequently that it is hard to develop the correct habit.
  10. I'll throw in a vote for Mark Pekarek at Greengrass Clubfitting in West Chicago. He's been in business for 20 years and has done great work. I'm happy with all the clubs he built for me. Their website it not the best, but they are very helpful on the phone. http://greengrassclubfitting.com
  11. 1. If you are an absolute beginner you would be better served to buy a reasonably priced set of used irons which fit your body (length, lie), learn the mechanics of the swing and get fitted for another set of clubs in a year or two. There is no single 'best' set of golf clubs and the chance of you picking right the first time are a bit slim. As long as you have a set of irons that fits you well don't worry about brand or model. Good ballstriking is all about your swing, not your clubs. 2. Their are counterfeit versions of most popular clubs available. Also, prices from golf shops in Singapore might be higher than what might be available on the internet. 3. One is newer, more shiney, and more expensive. (/cynisism)
  12. I have 4 in the bag now: PW (48) 51* 56* 60* I am considering adding a high-bounce sand-wedge because my moe course bunkers are overly fluffy and the lower bounce 56 I like off the fairway tends to dig.
  13. As many as I need but no more than I'm allowed. I'm currently trying to decide if I want 5 wedges or 4 and whether It is worth trading out the three iron to make it happen.
