when someone asks me what club I hit...I tell them the yardage club that I used. "I hit my 150 club" or whatever it may be. Its up to them to know what club goes how far.
  2. now I figured it out! My shots move off-line because the ball isn't balanced! My swing is perfect!
  3. all I'm saying is that even WITH a full set of clubs, you still use imagination. I'm not saying that you can't just hit your stock distances if thats what your skill level is. Just saying that theres no reason to limit the clubs and distances you can hit with as much simplicity as possible. Thats the whole point of having all the clubs...simplicity.
  4. well that used to be the case...then pro players stopped being macho and decided to take advantage of technology and engineering to make shots as easy as possible..when they hit those long irons..they aren't trying to do that much with them(sans tiger under the trees last weekend) so they opt for more forgiveness and better trajectory for stopping power...only makes sense.
  5. I carry pretty much a full set and I hit a "stock shot" less than 10% of the time I'm on the course. No golfer hits stock shots all the time, therefore they are constantly creating shots with any club in their hand...at least thats the way I play and everyone else I play with plays.
  6. are you asking why they use Cavity back irons sometimes? They will use them for long irons because its easier to get the ball in the air from difficult spots. They may launch a little higher, thus land a little softer to help hold the fast, firm greens.
  7. most of the places I play(bentgrass usually) are never really dry. If its morning, theres dew and watering, middle of the day, watering..evening, watering.
  8. thinking that if I go with Pure grips, I'm gonna buy a tire inflator(cheap compressor with enough PSI to blow on a grip)
  9. yeah I have to either buy midsize or above or tape up grips to be midsize or else my fingers ache like crazy
  10. that blue is Kentucky blue :D you guys using the pure grips...you don't experience any kind of slipping after a few rounds using the grips? I love the price and the color choice of the Pure grips..just thought that since the pattern was kind of the same thing as the Tour Velvet that it wouldn't give as much traction eventually and of course the air compressor thing..but if I can install them traditionally, I might still give them a go. Right now I've got an order of several different grips from GP and also a grip from Pure to see how they all feel.

  12. if its not on the card but the club pro and staff(all long tenured) say that the rule is in effect..whats the play? Is a local rule only in effect if its on a card?
  13. I guess I'm gonna have to do that because my whole set needs re-gripped and I can't really decide on one. I like that the VDR is pretty affordable but I'm worried about its "softness" and then with cords...the only corded grip I've ever touched was so slick it turned me off(just a demo grip on a stick)
  14. I've been a Tour Velvet user for as long as I can remember but I've decided to try and find something thats a little less "slippy" after the newness wears off. I've been thinking of VDR's, possibly BCT cords, or the Z-grip. Do cords really provide a lot of grip as far as the grip moving around in the hand? I've done some searches here on the site about pure grips(no air compressor available), Iomics(way to dang expensive for me to go for but they seem like they'd feel amazing)...are cords just the way to go? FWIW, I play gloveless, have tough hands, and live in Kentucky so the humidity is off the charts during the summer.
  15. Its not how..its how many :)
  16. unbearable to watch...waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting. The USGA and PGA need to stop worrying about long putters and fix the pace of play. This only furthers issues with amateur golfers.
  17. watched one of your videos and your backswing gets almost parallel at the top...definitely not a "short" backswing.
  18. outside of a damaged club prior to swinging it..theres no one on earth that could break a club by just swinging it. At impact, there are pretty strong forces put on the shaft that make it possible but not during the transition or an air-swing.
  19. I hate slipping and taking a chance on hurting myself in one way or another. On top of that..I like the option of regaining 100% of the grip I originally had by changing spikes when they are worn. Can't do that with the spikeless shoes. Once they wear, they are worn for good.
  20. you know those two old dudes walking behind her are trying with all their might not to stare at her...."don't peak, don't peak, don't peak!" and the pepperoni pizza comment...first thing I thought, as well, lmao
  21. I play golf in whatever time it takes to finish the round. As long as I'm not sitting around waiting 5-10 minutes between shots..it doesn't matter to me. My twosome rounds usually finish in 3-3:30, threesome about the same, and foursome about 4 hours max. I wouldn't care if it were 5 hours as long as, like I said, there were no waiting between shots(hard to get a 5 hour round without waiting, I know)
  22. yeah...a Srixon cover has depth to it...its not really "yellow" or "green"...its kind of like a slime color. the little sparkles do help it pick up the sun for reflection. The new NXT-tour yellow is the same way. The older yellow balls are basically just painted yellow and have no reflective qualities.
  23. well my laser can fry ants and also etch my golf clubs....can your GPS do that????
  24. if you are worried what people might think and you want your name on there to say "thats my bag" maybe a high quality bag tag?
  25. they make par 3 courses and the like that anyone can go and enjoy. Hard to lose a ball and gives you enough swing practice that you can eventually gain some control over your shots. There are also driving ranges. I'm a firm believer that you must first learn the basic fundamentals of golf away from the course. People who can't get the ball in the air shouldn't bother paying the money to play a round. Just go to the driving range for a while.
