  1. i'll be 'THAT guy' this evening as i need to work the slice out of my Driver swing. The Driver has stayed in the bag for the last 3 rounds and i've scored well. I need to get the extra distance off the tee now to help me improve my round further.
  2. I've been back playing golf for about 2 months now. Yesterday i played at my dads par 69 course and played a round of 87 gross - breaking 100 and 90 for the first time!!! I'm really happy with this - my previous rounds were 104 and 101 so i had been improving slowly but yesterday i had a change in mindset. I told myself in my head that shooting for bogey on every hole was the way to go - i ignore GIR etc and focussed on keeping myself out of trouble. I've been having a lot of problems keeping my driver straight so i mainly used my 5 iron and 3 hybrid off the tee and just played a 70% swing all day. My short game was much improved an i only had one 3 putt all round. I've now posted 3 cards for an official handicap which will come out as 26.3 - i'm hoping i can now play consistently around the 90-95 mark as i'm the first to admit that my 87 was very lucky! Just thought i'd share with you guys as i was so happy :)
  3. MD Golf Superstrong Ti 460 - £89.99
  4. 104 on a par 69 - not bad for my first full round in 12 years :) I won't mention the 10 (5 off the tea) and the 2 9's any further....
  5. My dad and i were playing the other day and there was a singleton behind and a 4 ball ahead who had no intention of letting anyone play through. The singleton came up to us on the tee and we asked if he wanted to play through or join us - he opted to make us up to a 3 ball Was amusing as we got to the par 5 9th and the pair behind were stood waiting to hit their tee shots until we cleared the green....
  6. Thanks everyone for your answers! To clarify, i am worried about my blood sugar getting too low half way round the course and becoming hypoglycaemic. This would mean i would have to cut the game short. Obviously i will carry so snacks etc to keep my blood sugar up during the round i just thought that an electric trolley would reduce my exertion compared to pulling a manual trolley and therefore there would be less risk of me going hypo. I'm going to try a few rounds with a manual 2 wheel trolley that my dad gave me and then consider an electric trolley if my blood sugar is getting too low. Thanks once again
  7. I'm just getting back into golf after a long layoff. I'm a type 1 Diabetic and need to start exercising more - i've decided to use golf as the first stage of getting more active before i try swimming and cycling. I'm concerned that using a manually pulled cart may adversely affect my blood sugar and could ruin my game and my father's game as i will be playing mostly with him. I'm only 30 years old - would you think me to be a bit stupid/pathetic/weak if i pitched up at your course with an electric cart at my age?
  8. I'm thinking of getting a 3H and a 4H to add to by bag but i'm a little confused by the lofts of the clubs. It seems the loft on a 3H varies between 18 and 21 degrees - should i be picking the loft that matches the 3 iron from my set or will any 3H do regardless of the loft? I've been looking at the TaylorMade Burner which is 18 degrees and the Nike Machspeed SQ which is 21 degrees - anyone have experiences with either of these?
  9. I recently demo'd the Nike SQ's and the TM Burner 09's - both were very nice clubs. I seemed to strike the Burner 09's better though, hence i'm picking some up on Friday
  10. Hello everyone, I'm Jon from the quiet English county of Shropshire and i work in IT. Well, after a 10 to 12 year layoff i've decided to get back into Golf! I'm buying my new irons on Saturday after a few weeks of testing a reading reviews i've settled on a set of TM Burner 09's. Will be taking them down to the local range on Saturday - i'm ready for the emotional rollercoaster to begin!!!
  11. i tested the Burner 09's, the Burner Plus and the Nike SQ's. The burner 09's definitely felt the best in my hands and gave me the biggest smile when i hit them - not a very scientific answer but what did you expect from a limey? :D
  12. I think Tiger has done great things for the game in the public eye and has helped bring Nike bring better equipment to the Amateurs. In terms of play style i'm too young to know how Jack played :)
  13. I'm a Project Manager for a large IT company - i used to be a WSO on the Tornado bomber in the Royal Air Force until i found out i was diabetic!
