yeah I was going to mention the green was inclined towards me, thats the reason it came back so far. if its a flat green it will spin about 3-4 feet judging from the divot.
-
this green was inclined back towards me...work with me here okay 15 feet maybe? somewhere around there!
-
HAHA well we always talk about wanting to get the spin on the ball like the pros and what not. I'm accomplishing that now more and more. But I keep spinning it back and off the green. I wanted this power and now i'm not so sure I want it anymore. I hit my approach shot with a 52* wedge (vokey) about 2 feet passed the hole and the darn thing spun back about 15-20 feet and then off the green!!!! only to mess up my chip back and then proceeded to 2 putt for a stinky bogey. ball is a prov1

Top High Handicapper Mistake
armandoartist replied to kilbyman's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
What is considered a high handicapper? 15? 20? 30? 40? -
I use my 60* for everything around the green I would say 40-50 yds and in. I can control the trajectery by moving the ball back and forth in my stance. I'll do bump and run and flop shots too. all with the same club.

Top High Handicapper Mistake

What's the secret? For moving from 10 Handicap to a scratch golfer... thoughts theories examples -
UPDATE!!! Well by working mostly on the long game my game has improved and I now carry an 11 handicap down from 13.7. The short game is descent but I need to pay more attention to putts. I'm hitting the ball more consistent and my scores have been in the low 80's and I broke 80 twice now. So I will continue to sharpen up the long game. hopefully next update I will be down to a 9 HC!!

vokeys I think are taking over the wedge market.

I have heard of this for quite a while. "That course sucks its design is horrible" Now they sometimes say things like real golf doesn't involve going from a 5 story tee box to a green from only 130 yards away. and also you shouldnt have a tee shot that can only go about 150 yards and a carry of 300 yards so your second shot has to be a really long shot to the green. not sure im making any sense but what do you guys consider good or bad course design.... I really thought the course is made and you manage it as much as you can.

What do you do when it gets dark and you have two holes left for a great round? Just a general question but it comes up a lot and sometimes I want that score for my handicap and I end up playing it in the dark with easier swings and accurate 7 iron tee shots. I end up with a bogey but hey I finished. What do you find yourself doing? glow in the dark balls?

Okay I'm not even close but with so many members here I was wondering who was the closest to getting on tour? maybe you could get some sponsors out of this. I think I could of been a pro had my parents had money and I started playing at age 2. I started at 25 and didn't see much improvement until 29 when I finally took some lessons. So what's your story? Maybe somebody is already on like the nation wide tour. But your probably not hanging by a computer but instead practicing 24/7.

How good are your good shots?

I think Tiger could hit his PW about 175 yards in a non competition event. just for the heck of it. seriously. I'll google it to confirm later. -
Sometimes a net won't help. When I first started I had a really wild swing where I would take the club back like John Daily and well it never really came back in line to the ball. There was this hole next to a freeway lots of passing cars and a huge net for safety. Well I took the club back and then swung through and it hit the red tee ball ahead of the white tee's it bounced up and left onto traffic and I could see it bounce off a semi truck and then bounced again off another car and probably continued on the freeway for another 200 yards. Luckily no major damage and nobody came looking for me. But I never expected that to happen.

I hit my worst shot and my best shot in the same hole about two rounds ago. It was a par 4 hole around 350 yards with a layup type gully ahead. I only needed about 200 yards for a perfect lay-up. I used a 5 iron and I just topped it and it rolled 100 yards :( yuk crap sh!t etc etc well now I have a 250 yard shot from semi rough to the hole over the gully. I could of layed-up with a 8 iron or so but I grabbed my 5 Wood swung the crap out of it and landed softly on the green then made a 30 foot putt for the best birdie of my life. That showed exactly where my skill level is 11.7 handicap, sometimes good sometimes bad. -

I also went from 18 to 11 this year.... so I have high hopes. by 2011 I should be breaking 70 (fingers crossed).... -
:) okay ...

It's not rocket science when your a 6 HC. different when your like a 15 HC or more.
-
so far I've been doing this the least popular way. I'll try the other way next time I play.
-
Well ever since I started playing 5 years ago. I always write down like this for a Eagle I put -2 (not yet actually) Birdie "-1" Par "P" Bogey +1 and +2 etc :( So I know its preference and whatever but Just curious how others keep score and how is it done in tournaments? do you write the score per stroke like a Par is 4 so you write 4 not a "P" like me, or do you just put circles around the number and squares for bogeys.
-
That was ridiculous!! Sincerely. Tiger Woods
-
Congrats! Mine was on a par 73 course FRONT 9 P,P,P,+1,P,P,+1,P,+1 BACK 9 P,+2,-1,P,P,P,+1,+1,P ONLY ONE BIRDIE BUT IT WAS TO MAKE UP FOR THE DOUBLE BOGEY.
