IMO whats been working for me is ebay, bought my driver for $20 included shipping. I started with garbage irons from who knows where. I still play them to this date. Maybe walmart brand? Any kind of upgrade will probably help my game a little.

I won a case of pinnacle golds and Ive played them before. I played them in 3 scrambles this year, just for the long drive prizes. Im hitting driver fairly straight and some are getting to the green or over(none on yet). I have to bump and run from within 100 yards, they have no stopping power it seems unless your over 100 out. I have a few prov's ill play next round.

Not quite the same in my experience, but I played an open for one of my vendors a month ago. I was nervous. sure scrambles I've played. But play your own ball? on a virgin course, yeah it was hairy. I shot a respectable 93 and the course was 6860 yards 72/139. The back nine was a 44 so I settled down. Not quite the same scale as your event, but good luck. It helped me to hit the driving range and work off some nervous energy, so I got there over an hour early. You may want to get there early yourself so you feel less like a deer in headlights, if you get stuck in traffic and have to scramble around the tents, your frame of mind will not be set for competition. Oh the score after my HI was 4th place overall. Some scratch guy shot 5 under, jeez to win it. Good luck

I played today in the scorching heat, playing the pinnacle and first hole gave me a chance to see it in action, hit into a 390 yard par 4 from about 110 and pin was up front maybe 10 yards deep into the green. I hit a lob wedge at about %80 and the ball flew true with a nice arc, it hit the front of the green, i couldnt see a mark, but from the fairway I saw the ball land, bounce forward, and roll forward another 5 yards im guessing. next hole was a 171 par 3, the pinnacle landed(green) bounced and checked /ball mark was maybe 10 feet in front of ball. 2 pars in a row, the next hole was a triple, no test could be conducted since I landed a pond from the approach. The next hole was 130 out on a par 5 and again the lob wedge, it struck green bounced and checked 10 feet past ball mark. The ball was flying far today so dont start with the 130 with a LOB? on the ninth I flew one 170 uphill, but I may have hit a sprinkler or hardpan. course was dry and hard, I thought I was flag hunting from 140 and gave it %95. My conclusion so far is that the pinnacle fxlong is a great distance ball, but garbage from under 100 yards as far as spin is concerned. I was too tired to practice the prov1 and only played 14 holes. I have previously tried testing the prov1 greenside and cant detect a great difference from 15 yards.

to clarify, in my experience using a prov1 and a non spin ball like a pinnacle gold fx long ball at greenside/approach I notice little if any difference. Its my understanding that club head speed increases the ratio of ballspin that much I realize. Using yardage as a measuring stick where would the prov1 begin to stop? or check after bounce when the goldfx long has no check? My guess would be 25 yard carry is when the difference occurs. thoughts? I have yet to test it.

Im over 120ss and its not at %100. im over 6foot 3 and the shafts are a bit longer so club head is moving fairly fast. So metal shafts are gauged at 5.0 6.0? not s or x?

I swing faster than most players and a assistant pro that played with me recently thought i should get new iron re shafted with x stiff. Does anyone here play with X stiff metal shafts? This guy says that the flex in my irons is so great that the contact is always going to result in a delofted hook. (club is still lagging from flex at impact) any thoughts?

60 all the time... i have hit a putter 10 yards out on the approach, lessens the chance of a mishit and usually i end up within 10 feet of cup

if a pro bottoms out 4 inches in front of the ball, where does a pro line up a 6i? center of stance? slightly behind center? how about a 9i? aligned with right foot?

Ill drive 270 to as long as 360MAX. I have little chance of hitting greens from 180 to 240 though. So basically I have a gap from 180 to 270. I lay up on par 3's over 170. Im decent from 160 in as long as my drive didnt go behind a tree. My best results are when I drive a ball green side, i usually make par. my numbers are based off of google earth and are with 10 yards usually. HI has fallen from a 22 to a 18.7 over the last ten rounds due to driver consistency lately, started playing 6-2007. My best 9 holes is a 42 best 18 is a 87. I snowman at least 2 holes a round.
