Easiest Fairway Wood to Hit off Tee Box & Fairway?
RDM# replied to golfheaven's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I second the K15 3 wood, I also went out and traded some old drivers and got the K15 driver, it has helped me with driving. -
Yes, sorry I should have mentioned OP in my reply.

I have done the lie board before with Ping clubs, I don't think I ever did it with a standard set though, but like I said I seem to hit the DCI's fairly well and may take a shot with a standard set and adjust if needed. I am sure Golf Galaxy can adjust the lie for me if needed.

If I bought a set of Titleist AP1's off the rack, all standard, then went out and played them and decided to be fit, can a retailer still send them to Titleist to be changed to my specs? I wanted to see how I played them with them being standard and then change if needed, I know in Ping I am a 3 degree upright plus 1/2 an inch, but my DCI Oversize+ are standard and I hot them pretty well.

Have you hit them on the course yet? Any feedback?

Any thoughts or comments?

So took out my old Titleist DCI Oversize+ Irons and took them to the range, they are a Regular Flex, compared to the G15's they are much closer to a blade style even though they are still considered GI irons, but overall I seem to hit them a little better. With the Titleist irans you know when you hit it perfect and when you have an off hit, def feedback. Back in the day I played the DCI's and did fairly well, maybe old is better?

I am heading to Disney World in November and will be flying Southwest, I plan on taking my clubs so I can play a couple days on the Disney courses, so which is the best travel bag to get? I was looking at the Mizuno.... http://www.tgw.com/customer/category...PROD_ID=303147

I picked up a SKLZ Power Sleeve Club Weight tonight from Sports Authority, it was on clearance, $4.97, has anyone used it before? The package says it will be able to hit balls with it to identify and correct swing flaws. I wonder how true that really is. I did throw it on my driver and swung outside, it did slow me down a lot and it did feel pretty good. Any comments? http://sklz.com/golf-training-aids/p...lf-club-weight

That's interesting, I was at the Newark Delaware store last Wed, they always seem to be busy, I hope they don't close it down. The customer service there is pretty good and they have a nice selection.

2nd the great customer service from PING

I never hit the vapor but was checking out the box at Dick's yesterday, it had the spin rated a 6 out of 10, not sure if that is still high, according to the USGA list it is a low driver medium iron spin ball. I have the crush, I have not hit them too often, but I liked it the few times I did hit them, but I when using my Reg flex G5's I was ballooning it, the crush is a Low Low spin ball.

Congrats! I looked at the G10's also, I have G5's. but ended up going with the G15's, I lucked out and found a set for $389 plus shipping, and I had to send them to Ping to get changed to white, so I am in them for about $500, which is not too bad.

You can always look into a used set of older Ping's, Callaway's, Taylormade's, etc, they may be 12-15 years old but they are good clubs. I had a set of Titleist DCI Oversize+ clubs and hit them pretty well back in the late 90's. -
Take your 7 iron and they will use the board and tape, it takes a few swings and you will know if the lie is right for you. Club fitting is the best thing for anyone, I have and love Ping and their fitting system.

I took the K15 3 wood to the club tonight and hit the range, wow it is a nice club! When my swing didn't breakdown the ball just flew off the face and it was straight, when I mishit a ball it was not all that bad, so first impressions a pretty high, now I need to get it on the course and use it in the tee box, the rough and the fairway.

If you get any feedback from him post it up, I am not against getting one at some point, but I want to work with what I have for now

When I sent my G5's and G15's in to be changed they told me they needed to be within 4 color codes, but who knows maybe it depends on who you talk to at Ping that day, but it is a great deal, other companies like Titleist will not take a shipment from a consumer for repairs or changes, Ping is great about it. I would also suggest getting the serial number if you go with Ping, if you can, call Ping to verify they are real, they will be able to give you a history if any exists, with my G15's they told me they were green to start, then white, then maroon and now back to white for me.

I took a ride down to Golf Galaxy today and they had the K15 driver and fairway woods out, so I hit the driver and 3 wood. K15 driver was pretty nice, nice sound off the club and a nice feel, I hit the 9.5* with stiff shaft, some hits were better than other but that is not the clubs fault, its swing breakdown, but when I hit it soild it felt good. I did not buy the club, I have the Rapture V2 and I want to work with that first, I just have to sweep the ball more, it is just practice. The K15 3 wood really hit well, 16* stiff shaft, I did not hit off the tee, it was too high, but off the mat it felt very solid, and according to the screen I was hitting it 250 yards on a few, but I don't put a lot of trust into that screen, I need to get to the range and really see what happens, but I did buy it, $199 is not all that bad.

I'd say it depends on your budget, but Ping G15's are great clubs, but get fit for them, the great thing about Ping is you can buy a set and send them to ping to get the color changed and it is cheap, I bought a set of G15's 5-p maroon color code +1 inch, off ebay paid $389, sent them off to Ping for $75, which included shipping back, and they changed them to white code and +1/2 inch over standard, plus they regrip, if you go that route make sure you get irons that are within 4 color codes of what you should have or they won't bend them.

I would suggest the Callaway Tour ix, Bridgestone E6 or the Titleist NXT, but google USGA golf ball list, it will give you the spin ratings for conforming golf balls, the first letter is the driver spoin rate and the second letter is the iron spin rate, for example it will say Titlest NXT L-L

I actually looked at this bag over the weekend, but went with the Bridgestone Bag, which is a sweet bag, but the Nike is really close, I would have been happy with the Nike bag too. I always put the woods at the top and irons middle, wedges/putter at the bottom, and I use it on the cart, I have the woods to my back wedges out, seems to be ok, I just get anything I may need out before I play.
-
I ended up returning the Ping Vantage bag, whenever I put my clubs back in the bag and it was on the stands it pushed backwards and the feet went out from under, so I took it back to Dick's, I looked at the Latitude and after comparing it to the Bridgestone Bag it was not as nice, I got the black and white version.
-
I have not hit the K15 yet, but I saw it at Dick's, I was hitting some Rapture fairway woods in the small hitting area and they had a storage area near by, they had a bunch of drivers, they can't put them out until Aug 22.

I don't know much about the G2's, but when I got my G5's I know they moved the weighting some, and again with the G10's and the G15's have the weight in different areas, but I would say the G15's should be a better club, my opinion though.
